  1. Strongly agree. This would also reinforce the FAQ nature of the pinned subjects in Tips/Tricks.
  2. Is this what the wheel center is supposed to look like? I got a metal sticker set from stradasports.com that includes this star/laurel design (needs underpainting) - FMD brand, part #FA-24003. May be available from Model Car Garage. (About 3mm wide)
  3. Clean, beautiful, very impressive.
  4. While "Off Topic" seems like a good idea at first glance, I wonder if it might loosen up some members to think they could post political opinions (thus requiring even more admin vigilance)? Maybe it's worth finding out, in order to purge General of so many off-topic posts.
  5. Beautiful piece of work.
  6. Let's blame Canada.
  7. Maybe add a pinned "Off-Topic" subject at the top of "General?" Other boards have that. Nahhh...that would be as carefully observed as the rest of the topics. Maybe take the pinned threads in Q&A/Tips Tricks, and put them into a third topic called "FAQs?" Nahhh...that would be as carefully observed as the rest of the topics. If dealing with what we have is too much for some members, imagine what happens when something is changed.
  8. Wow, all around. Perfect hood liner. What epoxy resin did you use for the interior roof lights? Looks perfect, and would be just right for exterior lights such as turn signals.
  9. I have no problem with off-topic stuff in General, since I think it adds an extra dimension to our knowledge of other forum members. As for FAQs, I think we're pretty close already with the pinned subjects at the beginning of "Tips, Tricks & Tutorials." Those topics address by far the most-asked questions and provide links to other related tutorials, etc. around the Internet. If you need any more than that, you'll find plenty of good books with answers, not to mention asking Google. I can't see the forum admins having to deal with such a thing.
  10. It's the engine cover. (chain-driven)
  11. Looks incredibly awful to me. Recent reissue looks to be the same. http://www.ebay.com/itm/161012785001?_trksid=p2048036
  12. True, there's nothing like a Beetle. The original may warm the heart of a teacher, but the New Beetle is also available as a Revell snap-tite kit. NOTE TO DADS: You can help with verbal guidance, but don't do an ounce of work yourself. Been there on many projects. [Or how about Rommel's Rod? That should generate some class discussion ]
  13. The old Gold Cup version of the Jo-Han Mercedes 500K coupe (Roadster Limousine) was molded in the perfect burgundy color with a great shine. Just a little Meguiar's Scratch-X takes out any scuffing or blemishes. Later issue molded in red wasn't nearly as well-finished. However, painting the inside of the body parts is recommended to reduce the "plastic" look and add a sense of metal density to the model.
  14. I think you could paint the outer lip of the door jambs with body color to keep the polished aluminum parts from showing up.
  15. Perfect taillights. Wish I had spare windshields to share with you.
  16. I'm in awe of the crisp Maserati logo you put on the cam cover. The only thing I would add is a teeny bit of chrome strip around the inside lip of the bonnet opening.
  17. I built this one decades ago and it's pretty much what you see, comparatively simple. The worst part is the wire wheels, which will never look right out of the box. Needs Rosso Corsa or dark red paint, not typical Italian red. If you don't replace the wires with Herb Deeks wheels from eBay, at least use needle files to thin down the outer parts as much as possible.
  18. Perfect. Need to see more.
  19. Those are 3500 GT taillights, not GTi. The kit lights are correct, as shown on the 1:1 GTi below
  20. Neither my Aurora nor my Monogram kits came with instrument decals, so that's still up to me. The tires are a semi-gloss vinyl with paintable styrene inserts for whitewalls. I would highly recommend reinforcing the door hinges with metal.
  21. How did you come up with the instrument panel gauges?
  22. I have never been exactly sure how the seats work on the different versions of the 3500GT, but I do know that the cantlievered movement you describe was part of this Allemano version of the car. Just not sure about the GTi. In any case, you still need to add the bottom part of the hinge.
  23. According to the Internet Movie Cars Database, it's a 1970 Pontiac Catalina in the factory Sierra Yellow paint. http://www.imcdb.org/vehicle_145482-Pontiac-Catalina-1970.html
  24. This was a very rare model kit made by Record. This one sold for 38 GBP on eBay UK earlier this year.
  25. So, Harry...when did you decide to change from Dirty Harry to Magic Harry?
