I know what you're saying. There are so many threads on "Workbench" about "WIP" projects that get stalled or delayed or go nowhere or whatever, and keep you hungry for the next installment. I almost wish that instead of "On the Workbench," we had a category of "Build Journals," where the step-by-step building process could be outlined and nothing would be posted until the model was finished. On the other hand, I can think of certain topics posted by a modeler who has never shown a finished product, but whose painstaking custom work on tiny bits and pieces has been tremendously instructive. Anyway, it's summer, and people go away for a while. Who knows?

Very slick. Some of the best radio antennas I've seen – right scale and very straight.

I'd say this belongs in Tips, Tricks & Tutorials. PS for those who wonder where Coimbatore is: Coimbatore (Tamil: கோயம்புத்தூர்), also known as Kovai (Tamil: கோவை), is the second largest city in the South Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It is the administrative headquarters of the Coimbatore District and a major textile and engineering hub of South India. So there.

Interestingly, the Iso Grifo was sort of a Corvette under the skin: The car got a light facelift that made it less aggressive but turned it into possibly the most elegant-looking Gran Turismo (GT) supercar ever produced. This “street†Iso Grifo GL received the fast, modified but reliable Chevrolet Corvette’s 327 V8 (5.4 L) engine—either in 300 or 350 hp—coupled to a Borg-Warner 4-speed toploader. These engines were ordered in the US, but were completely taken apart and blueprinted before they were put in; as they did with the Iso Rivolta GT. With over 400 horsepower (300 kW) and a weight of less than 2,200 pounds (1,000 kg), the vehicle was able to reach speeds over 275 km/h (171 mph). (Wikipedia)

Military Vehicles EYE CANDY
sjordan2 replied to Dr. Cranky's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Absolutely. And I tell you, my favorite kit of all time is the Airfix / MPC Blower Bentley. Looks to me, based on the perfection of the tooling, and the precision molding of all parts down to screws, nuts, washers, rivets, etc., that this was devised by their military specialists – all that, and this particular kit isn't that difficult to build. We have a lot to learn from the military modelers, and they know about aftermarket details that car modelers haven't begun to explore. For those who practice weathering, you need to follow military modeling sites. -
It's a small world, John. I saw that you also live in Knoxville and did a little Googling – you're right next door to the house where we lived from 1989 to 1992. (The next one up toward Bob Gray.) I believe our street number was 1133, but that was a long time ago.

Very, very straight and detailed. The real deal.

These are all terrific. And It would be hard to improve on this Lincoln (originally Pyro?).

I just don't understand why you would try to restore this when you can get one that's fresh out of the box.

Window channels for W/S and backglass
sjordan2 replied to Mike Kucaba's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I also would like to see some techniques. But it's not just for rooflines, it's also for the vertical part of vent windows. This is a consideration that almost everyone overlooks. -
Like I said on the other forum, another awesome professional build. What's the paint? The metal flake works just fine.
-
If that's a quickie, I'd love to see one of your slowies. Wow. Awesome shine and finish (and I'm one of the worst critics of scale model metallic paint).

Stingray Roaster? Any tips on seasoning and basting? Beautiful build, by the way.

c6 corvette racing stripes
sjordan2 replied to Greg Myers's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
This kind of stuff can't be copyrighted, just like any other approach to racing stripes, and you'll find it on a host of different brands. But who wants to be seen as a copycat? Bad move. -
Definitely version 2, which has the perfect curved shape and looks like it was made for the car. To me, the original looked like an afterthought.

Lots more here, in the Design Gallery http://www.purerossi.com/frameset.html

Mike Lomaka's Amerivette and Italivette artwork in the latest issue of MCM reminded me of something that's out there on the market: The Rossi SixtySix Corvette, based on the C6. As for me, I like it. Others hate it. What do you think?

I wanted to add that I truly appreciate what you're doing, especially anything that relates to Vietnam veterans, though all veterans are due respect. Your Vietnam-era friends will remember that the sort of appreciation shown to our troops since the Gulf War was in short supply during Vietnam. I was in uniform from 1969 to 1971, and that uniform was not appreciated by the general pubic at the time. When I went to a mall in my Class A's or khakis, or stood in a crowd waiting for an elevator, I was oinked at, had the bird flipped at me and even was spat upon. But I was truly blessed by being able to remain stateside throughout my service. I just want to say thank you.

This guy used spackle thinned with water over "cellfoam," or whatever you call it. I think it looks pretty good. http://www.arcforums.com/forums/air/lofiversion/index.php?t140485.html

VERY nice work, especially the eagle. [Love your design, Harry.]

How about something with the Vietnam Veterans Memorial wall?

I didn't mean to. Something went odd. I'll deal with it tomorrow.

Just call me Ty, huckleberry.
