  1. You will probably find this on your own, if not already, but be careful of the body shell part under the doors that's part of the cowling. The sprue braces tend to bend it out of shape (I've seen that on all three brands of the kits I have, plus the partly built parts donor), so you have to make sure that it's all glued down with precision. This is important for proper door fit, especially on the right side.
  2. Go for it. Beautiful car that carries on the Mustang tradition in spades once it became a muscle car.
  3. Are you going to add the fuel lines? These would be run from the rear tank along the inside of the left frame rail to the reservoir on the firewall, and from there inside the rail into the supercharger air tube/box. PS: The black wire wheels won't be totally invisible if you make sure the brake drums are the correct copper finish.
  4. For information for those following this, of all the boxings of this kit, the Revell version is the only one that doesn't have a chromed wheel sprue. Which is just fine, since the 1:1 cars didn't originally have chrome wheels. I am truly excited about watching a person of Harry's skills build this kit, since I've gathered a ton of research about this car over the years and the kit has been #1 for takeoff for a while..
  5. The continuation of awesomeness. I'd like to see some outdoor shots that may display the finishes a bit more like they appear to the eye, rather than to the camera with indoor lighting, as good as it is.
  6. I think the styling is much improved, with a more aggressive grille that gets rid of the cartoon Disney-style "smile" from the "Cars" movies that has plagued recent Mazdas. I like the rest of it, too.
  7. Here's another good tutorial, though there is occasionally some controversy over the type of cotton swab to use for burnishing (possible fuzz residue). Tamiya brand is often recommended. http://www.italianhorses.net/Tutorials/BareMetalFoil/bmf.htm
  8. I don't see that my comment was rude, but I apologize if it came across that way. Certainly not intended that way. Anyway, I also found the original photo, which has a caption identifying the person who retouched the headless man, etc. Not Harry.
  9. I don't know why I have to repeat it, except for new members, that Harry NEVER retouches anything from his source except to remove identifying badging and scripts. Otherwise, his examples are the way he found them.
  10. In the Pocher modeling world, this is like getting an exhibition at the Museum of Modern Art. Bravo.
  11. Neiman-Marcus strikes again. Their new Christmas catalog offers a 1/32 slot car track/diorama built to your specifications for the track of your choice: http://blog.caranddriver.com/green-hell-in-your-basement-neiman-marcus-and-slot-mods-usa-team-to-offer-300000-slot-car-track-w-video/
  12. Each one of your brass cars is more beautiful than the last.
  13. My guess is that it's the missing open car from the 1931 Hooper catalog.
  14. I don't get a photo in your post number 74 -- just the old question mark in a blue box.
  15. Rolls registry info indicates that chassis JS1 with the auto thermostat and other JS series were introduced in 1931 (the kit is supposed to be 1932, isn't it?). I found a catalog picture of an enclosed 1931 Hooper sports saloon with similar fenders. I find the caption a bit confusing, but I'll scan it today and post it. NOTE: I've come up dry on this --many of the Rolls coachbuilders had similar flared front fenders on fixed-head tourers and sports saloons, but I can't find one on any open car.
  16. I would add that I was incorrect about the illustrations being the same. The placement of the thermostat is the only thing that is common between the LHD and RHD illustrations. That's because the LHD version as shown above is mostly a mirror image of the RHD chassis and engine layout, and components like the carburetor, exhaust, etc This is the correct RHD illustration...
  17. I have both the LHD and RHD handbooks, and they use the same illustration in both manuals (OOPS! WRONG. SEE CORRECTION BELOW IN POST 484). The image below is from the LHD handbook. Neither handbook contains an original publication date anywhere. I seem to recall that somewhere along the way (I don't know when), Rolls modified manual shutter opening/closing with the automatic thermostat shown here. It can be overridden manually.
  18. I'm confused. My original Rolls handbook shows that your first placement of the thermostat control on the left was correct (page 12, fig. 3).
  19. It would be amazing to see a display of your brass cars in person. No one has ever done them better.
  20. Is it Line-O-Tape? I've got a supply for my Mercedes SS.

    Maverick

One that is never seen, and quite well done, though a little wash on the grille couldn't hurt. Any interior shots?
  22. Regarding the radiator frame with the square corners, what was your process here? It looks like it could help me make a radiator guard for my 1/16 Mercedes SS.
  23. Yet more astonishment. To go back a couple of thoughts, more modelers of every kind of kit and scale should pay more attention to the firewalls, though they don't need to go anywhere close to this.
