Interesting discussion, doesn't take much of a search to turn up plenty of pick-ups that ran as "legal" gassers back then, especially Willys and Austins. Along with trucks there were plently of wagons and sedan deliveries too. Rick, while there have been some recent disscussions as to what really constitues a "gasser"...I think you should just go for it! If the results aren't technically a gasser I'm sure it will still be a very cool race car when you're finished, best of luck!

No worry Glenn, there are more than a few members here and sometimes hard to remember who built what . I'm happy that you thought enough of my stuff to use it as an example.

Nice that someone would think my work was Marty's but the blue ranchero was built by me a few years ago. It's pretty much a combo of the AMT Ranchero kit and a Revell SWC Willys. Had to lenghten the frame a bit and combine pieces of both floor boards to make it work. Here's a few more pics. Aloha...Pete

Guys...just a quick point. The pics of the SWC car with out all the required gasser "hardware" shows one of SWC's many cars in match race trim. This a great thread and the "conversation" just keeps it interesting Aloha...Pete

Thanks to all for takin' the time to comment. This was a fun build and I'd like do another with more than four weeks to finish...due to the time crunch a lot of details and dimensions were simplified to ensure completion by the planned date. Also wanna thank Danno and SoCal for the Woody history and great pics of the real deal. To Paul Alflen...the plans aren't really worth selling, the drawings are quite simple. If you really want a copy I'd be more than happy to give you a set, just let me know where to send them. Aloha..Pete

Haven't seen many woodies with other than a windshield...

This is my 1st large scale model, it was built as a retirement gift for a coworker/friend over a 4 week period. Started with the latest edition of the "Big Deuce"...cut roadster body at the cowl/door line, drew up plans for the wood panels, panels were built by another friend from Koa and Pine, scatched up a winshield frame and attached/blended the frame to the cowl, then built the rest out 'da box. Thanks for lookin'... Aloha...Pete

Nice thread and some nice Hot Rods. Looks like there's no need to wait for Saturday though, so here's a few of mine... Monogram 32 Roadster Revell 32 3 Window AMT 40 Ford Coupe AMT Double "T"

Beautiful 32 Paulo. Well done! Aloha...Pete

Some really nice workspaces out there... Started building almost 2 years ago and I'm still on the "breakfast" table and painting out in the garage. The only real hassle is having to clean up all the time. Aloha...Pete

All nice, but the Starliner is my favorite. Looks real...everything about it is "right"

This thread has got to be one of the best...the many different builds displayed here are testiment as to why the 32 Ford has been and still is the all time favorite in the 1:1 world of Hot Rodding. My builds so far... R-M 32 Roadster: Wheels and Tires from Revell 29 Ford P/U, Induction from R-M 30 Woodie, and paint is Tamiya Gold and Clear. AMT 32 Coupe: Channeled and grill sectioned, Back Wheels from Kit but widened, Parts box tires, kit flathead with speed parts from AMT 49 Ford, and painted with Krylon Navy Blue AMT 32 Coupe on the Bench: Chopped and Channeled, Wheels,Tires,Engine from Beatnik Bandit, and painted with Krylon Peekaboo Blue

Hope this helps...from the Garlits Museum. Sorry Chun...I think I just finished the hijacking

Moose...I thought your black 5 window highboy was beautiful, but this has got to be the one of best Revell 32 builds I've ever seen. What's cool is that while the detailing is minimal, the model is still stunning. That is the best scale Candy Apple Red paint I have ever seen...are you decanting and using an airbrush or shooting right out the can? One more paint question; is that TS13 clear? Thanks for sharing...

I agree Curt...the truck looks very mean with the fat tires, if you gonna run the blower, may as well run the big "meats" too

Nice job Rick. I really like the colors; are the interior colors an actual color combo available on the 67 Comet? Also, got any pics of the engine?
-
Gotta' love them old Drag Racers! Nice job...color, decals, and wheels are all right on. Compared to cars from this era, I find today's drag racing boring. Aloha...
-
Matt...Great job, both execution and design are beautiful. Love the colors and stance. Most of these I've seen sit somewhat high in the back; did you lower it in the rear? Very Nice...
-
Curt/Chun...Good idea. Once they're done You'll need to photoshop a pic with the 2 of them wheels up! In the pic of the real cars together it looks like the LRW is a little more than just "restored", those tires are huge. Lookin forward to seein these when finished. NoName...a nice set of piecrust slicks would really be "right" on the Willys. The set in the Revell Thunderbolt would be just right... Chun...see ya Sunday. ALoha...

Sam...good lookin' roadster. The stance and color really fit the build. Also like the top, it's a shame Revell din't see fit to include one, maybe in a future reissue I guess we can't be too hard on them though, they really are pumping out some nice hot rod stuff. I am just getting back into modeling too and enjoying it more than ever. Just started last year and already have a stash (backlog?) of around a hundred kits with only 4 built. Keep up the great work...Pete

Hey Nitro...Your Willys really looks good, thats some beautiful candy red. Glad to see you got the window problems straightened out. Nice work, lookin' forward to seeing the Altered... Noname...is that the pick up from the old AMT Willys kit? Aloha...Pete
-
Hey Alyn...didn't realize you'd finished this one already. Looks great, your vision of the "Outlaw in Gold" was right on. Looks good down there in your Sig...
-
Another winner Alyn! The sedan looks great chopped and it really fits the roadster's chassis perfectly. I really like the detailing inside the body, matches the rest of the build. Got more pictures? ALoha...Pete

That's too bad Nitro...Before shooting mine with Tamiya Clear Blue (rattlecan) I polished them with 3 M compund then wiped 'em down with isopropyl Alcohol. No issues with fisheyes... Hope you get it sorted out. Aloha...Pete
