  1. Thanks Chris...I ran the body under hot water and worked the fenders till they lined up a little better with the tilt frontend. I saw your truck and it looks nice, I like the color you used.
  2. This is AMT's latest reissue of the 1940 Wiilys 2 'N' 1 kit built 100% out the box except for one decal on the tailgate. Base color is Krylon Peek a Boo Blue, followed by a thin coat of pearl blue flip flop, and some urethane clear to seal it all. This was a favorite kit when I was a kid and it still builds pretty much hassle free after all these years. The kit builds into a pretty nice model with a little work...it does need some tweaking here and there but doesn't need a lot of additional detailing to look good sitting on the shelf. The new wheels and tires included in this issue are a big improvement compared to the old ones. All in all, a fun build with a whole bunch of nostalgia thrown in. Thanks for takin' time to have a look. Aloha...Pete
  3. Wicked Cool!
  4. Hey Scott...nice work on both! I'm presently working on the latest release of the AMT Willys and building it as a pick up too. Getting all the body parts to line up properly can be quite a challenge, as we see with your Willys truck...the end results are worth it.

Just a "Shave and a Haircut"...really like your style. Beautiful work !
  6. Hey Dennis...What a great looking Hot Rod, doesn't get more traditional than that. Thanks for taking the time to list your parts and the sources. Definitely one of the best 34's in scale! Aloha...Pete
  7. Got these from JDS Racing yesterday. What a great product, hands down the best stacks in scale I've seen. Not only are the parts really nice but Joe's customer service is excellent...ordered on Monday and they were in my mailbox (in Hawaii) on Friday. Thanks Joe!
  8. John...that's just beautiful. One of the best looking scale Vettes ever built! Aloha...
  9. I enjoyed building this kit. The fit and finish were quite good, the Pontiac engine looks pretty accurate, and the decals for the quarter panels laid down nicely. The only issue I had with assembly was getting the front of the chassis to fit in the body. I took the "smoothing" a step further than they did on the 1:1 (shaved the door handles, outside mirror, and the emblems) and lowered the car all around. Used Testers "Blazing Black One Coat Laquer" and Wet Look Clear. Looks pretty good on the shelf, will probably try the Coronet too. Aloha...Pete
  10. Thanks for the feedback....Most of the decals are from the Austin Gasser, the flames are from Revell's 67 SS 396 Chevelle (cut up and "reassembled"), and the rest are from Slixx. The light purple is Tamiya TS 24 with a pearl clear, and the dark purple is Testers one coat laquer "Purple Licious" all covered with Wet Look clear. Aloha...Pete
  11. Built for a club challenge over the past 4 weeks… AMT’s “BOSS NOVA”…the wheels and tires are from a die cast dragster, injection manifold and valve covers from Speed City Resin, prewired magneto from Pro Tech, and the paint is from both Tamiya and Testers topped with Tester’s Wet Look clear. Narrowed the rear, changed the front axle to a “dropped” unit from the stash, and molded in the hood. Thanks in advance for takin’ time to look

I like all 3, but the Monte is especially cool!
  13. Thanks to all for taking time to comment... As requested earlier in the thread, here's a pic of the undercarrige. Nothing compared to the level of detail offered in today's kits...but simplicity and ease of assembly made the kit "fun" to build. The only thing that required a little effort was working the seam down the middle of the engine and trans. .
  14. Jean-Jacques...beautiful wagon! The interior looks very nice, thanks for sharing your technique with us.
  15. Chris...good looking Camaro. Nice job weathering the undercarrige.
  16. Steve...beautiful work, in both the design and execution. What was the source for your resin pieces?
  17. Nice stuff Dominic...looks like you were very busy this year. Merry Christmas!
  18. Matt...nice lookin' build. Love the color choice! Got any good shots of the interior?
  19. Harry...I'll shoot a pic and post it tomorrow. Aloha...
  20. Tulio...I agree 100%
  21. Nice work Gary...these things look great built as vintage stockcars.
  22. Guys...thanks for taking the time to look and I apreciate the favorable comments. Aloha...
  23. Tulio...I love this thing! The stance, the colors, and your choice of engine and modifications are just right. As always, very clean work...even if you were in a hurrry
  24. Dang Doc...you had a busy year. I especially like the rusty 60 Chevy Gasser, nice work.
  25. Built from the latest release of Monogram’s “BADMAN”, even after reading about all that was wrong with this thing I still had to have it. - Paint is Tamiya TS-16 Yellow - Hooker and Isky decals are from the “stash” to replace decals left out of this release - Tire lettering is from Slixx - Left off the “Mud Flaps” and the Air Dam …and the rest is from the box. CONS: The body showed the age (50 yrs?) of the molds. Some panel lines were nonexistent as were some of the lines for the window trim. The upper quarter panels were very wavy and needed to be block sanded. The kit is not very detailed. PROS: Once the “body work” was done the kit went together pretty well. The finished product is still pretty cool even after all these years… Thanks for lookin’…
