AMC Gremlins Kit Advice
Dave Van replied to Jerry Meeuwse's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As stated all the stock AMT Gremlin kits are the same tool. The kit is OK.....just the 70's era tooling needs a little help. I have hints on how to make it build better in my Fotki album. https://public.fotki.com/DaveVan51/2012-builds/ My build is a P/S but fit issue are for any build. Thx -
What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
Dave Van replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
To be fair......... A resin parts package from Slovenia landed in NYC USPS office Monday and it was in my hands in WV TUE!?!?!?!?!? NO LOGIC here!!! Happy but wondering???? -
While my brother was going to OSU he drove a 3rd hand Chevette. He's always answer he drove a Vette!!!! I went out whit him in his Vette one day. The passenger door seal had failed so water came in. Add spilled seed food for his birds and he had plants growing in the passenger floor carpet. Nice car!!!

I had brushes with him at DNL Hobbies......not sure if there was something held over from his AMT days or what but 'Strained' is what I'd say. thx

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
Dave Van replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Not really defended. I did state once that I got a package from CA (3000 miles) overnight and was shocked!!! If I send something to my daughter 100 miles away it can take a week......so if that is defending...YES I did. Many more posts about packages going in circles for many days or passing through the same city 3 times. Thx -

I got a new personal best!!!! Package left Sugarland TX, went through to wo TX PO before being sent to Wash DC. From there to Roanoke VA.....OK getting closer. Then Greensboro NC. Charlotte NC was a good stop, visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Vacation over back to Greensboro. Where next??? Who knows but I hope it's in WV somewhere. -
Trade Dress covers it I think. Best not to go up against FORD and it's hundreds of lawyers......FORD needs some cash right now!!

PASS........ I have a large number of 1/20th builds in F1.....so it does not fit. Want to sell vintage F1 kits??? Why not other makes in 1/20?? like this in plastic

I was talking to Atlantis on another issue and asked why the Pinto is not in the 24/25 catalog and they said 'No news right now'. May be a FORD license issue....my GUESS only.

Tamiya spray cans banned in Canada!!!
Dave Van replied to Bullybeef's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Like banning Cow Flatulence, yes there is a reason. It's low hanging fruit. While other countries are given a pass (by Canada + USA) to build new coal powered electric plants, the fix to all the planets issues is to ban a few guys painting models. No politics, just facts -

Tamiya spray cans banned in Canada!!!
Dave Van replied to Bullybeef's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It is SO FANTASTIC that Canada, much like the USA, has FIXED ALL other more important issues and are now affecting peoples livelihood. Tamiya spray changed the hobby. If I lived in CANADA my spare tire in the car would be filed with TS each trip. -
Yep!!! Sure ain't the MDC Roundhouse kits I'd buy in the 70's for $2.25 each!! BUT I have about 200 HO kits on hand from my HO days. There are deals out tjere. My O scale freight cars all are used other than a few Menards which are around $25 each. BTW the 2 part video on the Civil War O layout is great....even if you only have interest in the CW and not model trains. Thx

Sitting inventory cost $ so moving it can be a positive to a point then it becomes a danger sign. Where Atlantis is at??? -

I have a Dead MD-5000 but gave up looking for someone to fix it. I've not looked for ribbons of late, still have one good printer, but when ALPS came out they were $4 for color and $6 for white and metallic. ALPS was a great invention but you could not get the general public to see the advantages vs a $$40 ink jet printer.
