  1. Two things to add. I have alets set up on my checking and CC accounts to text me for a number of different trans. Look and see if you can do same. One of my CC sent me a message that the rate was going to 35%!! This was illegal just a few years ago but those in DC got paid to make it legal. I have a zero balance so no big deal but at 35% you could be in a place you can never pay it off. Just FYI on the GREED that has been legalized by our employees in DC.
  2. I spent last Friday and Saturday with the guys at Atomic City JoHan. I have known Jack for 40 years now!!! I saw the convertible version and it was better than injection plastic. Clean with a finish surface not even Modelhaus had and I thought theirs was perfect! They said they were going to have a new version soon......and it's more than just a body added to this kit.
  3. I have a NASCAR Matador in process (for a while). I used two AMT 1990 NASCAR Thunderbird chaassis to make a much better chassis for the Matador. Good luck! My 1/1
  4. MPC NASCAR body with JoHan hood. The M<PC kit is a clone, size wise, of the JoHan......all parts interchange EZ......thx
  5. Alan is correct. The AMX funny car kit is one of many JoHan kits AMT marketed. While I know of no exact repop of the AMX F/C chassis I'd start with a recent AMT Vega funny chassis. It will get yyou in the ballpark. Be a cool project. thx
  6. I know of that car. I have had the same idea. While maybe not 100% accurate it would be much easier to find the JoHan Rebel kit. Many more out there on the market and other than the tail light and side window shape the same body. Good luck either way.
  7. May I ask why a AMC 69 Ambassador??? That is a VERY rae and odd kit......just wondering!
  8. Nice clean work! I own a AMC 74 Matador coupe so that scheme is close to home! Also met Ran a number of times....good guy.
  9. I've looked into it and did some work for years. My plan was to use the AMT/JoHan NASCAR kit chassis. It's frame is stock and I was adding the stampings to the flat floorpan. Then when Revell did the S&H Torino, but as stated WB is off and it does not fit under JoHan body. The JoHan promo has a nice stock chassis but it is a single piece with everything molded in. Here is my MPC body, JoHan promo chassis and interior. Otaki wheels. Thx
  10. My tech job had ZERO tolerance for failure. Why we tested over and over before any updates
  11. And S'Cool Bus over size HEMI's are cloned from a old dragster Monogram did.....why they are so big!!!
  12. Sign up for JoAnn's coupons and you can get 50% off those Atlantis kits. I just got the Mack....a DEAL!!!
  13. There is other TD Tooling Atlantis SHOULD have that would be more desirable......but I am pretty sure PIE tooling is in great shape and ready to run with little investment. Honest Engine is my pick for a rare TD repop!!!!! Thx
  14. VERY COOL DISPLAY!!!! a few pretty rare builds too. Great work!!
  15. I held a GoodYear license for model car tire transfers when I ran DNL Hobbies. I required a signed liability release, $25 a year fee and a product sample of each item we made. GoodYear hears that Harley Davidson makes more off licensing than motorcycles. GoodYear raises the fees to a per item fee making it impossible to do. This is when Monogram removed the engraved GY off all tire molds. We 'sold off inventory' for a while. GoodYear then finds they are making AERO from licensing and have a bad 'branding'. They go back to allowing reasonable license fees but too late......Monogram asks for fees from GY to put GY back on tires. I got out of the hobby biz for a while and only heard RC2 and R2 had worked out a deal for GY. If that has ended now we'll have to ask those in the know. That's my dealings with GY. UPDATE: the newest AMT truck kits have GoodYear tires.......
  16. I can't let FedEx off either........I ordered a car part, shipped from a city less than 300 miles away, next state over. 8 days later I got it. LOGISTICS working as designed. Passed through WV twice before being delivered. Sat in Grove City Ohio for a few days.....nice slow vacation......
  17. Those old Revell truck kits are 1/48 scale.....great for use on O train layouuts!!!!
  18. A buddy of mine makes 3D printed kits. The kits are printed in color and very easy. I suggested a Googie style car wash......and he did one!!! Very cool with a small footprint. Now I need to find room for one on my layout. Thanks Youtube build of kit
  19. They carry some....but yet to see any Atlantis automotive kits at HL.........
  20. Hobby Lobby was well stocked today. Even had 2 Demon kits. The kit is not on my list so I passed. There were 3-4 kits I could pick up but ended up with my 3rd AMT 60 Ford P/U kit. Each time I buy one I think of new ways to build it so for $21 a good deal!!!!! Took the wife to JoAnns Fabrics and I found a Atlantis Ex Monogram Mack stake bed truck. JoAnns had a 50% off coupon so this kit was only $15!!!! JoAnn's does carry all the Atlantis kits but good to check when near by and at 50% off a great deal. Thanks
  21. Heading to HL now.......1.5 hour drive....wife has DR appt
  22. Seems the folks at R2/AMT are very good at marketing!!!!
  23. I like the rusty colored paint, then rock salt and then paint method..................... not a car but....
  24. Peter pretty much covered it. Photo copy decals will ONLY work over pure white paint. ANY other color and it will alter the decal or make it disappear. So lots of issues. Add the original decal paper color, if it's blue or just a aged brown/tan, this will copy too. IMHO it's not worth it unless you have a really good decal, bright white paper being applied to a pure white surface. Best thing is you want GOOD copies....scan original decal, trace and make new art, send it to someone like Indycals that can print correctly. I've been a decal manufacture for 40+ years now. Thanks
  25. Wayne helped me out a few times....prayers sent.
