Why do old TV shows on DVD look stretched horizontally?
Dave Van replied to LDO's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
On my TV I have to change the Ratio depending on what I am watching......it's different for DISH, streaming and DVD watching. -
AMT Mustang II Hell Drivers Thrill show car
Dave Van replied to gasman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
The Mustang II only had card stock printed ramps. They will not be in this reissue per R2. The Ford and Mercury kits had plastic ramps in them. -

First off I had a great time. Show had many elements of the old Toledo NNL shows. Saw lots of friends, will not say who cause I'll forget someone. Those that saw me and came up THANKS....always nice to met internet friends. Picked up a few great deals. R2/AMT was there with Steve Goldman, JoHan and company were set up too. I am working on a project with them....info soon I hope. Show was very well run in a nice facility. ONLY suggestion is to break the line into those with models to enter and those w/o. The line would move faster..... VERY minor thing! Some may know I did a video series on these kits....found a mint kit for a good deal...look for a build video. A 3D print by a guy who has just started. I have always liked these Super Modified. I called them Red Neck Formula One cars. Lots of cool innovation. At $55 a decent deal. 3D is just starting to change the hobby.......amazing stuff. He had a few different and some decals. Bought another Blade Runner Spinner kit as it was cheap and these are drying up....now I need to build one. Overall a great weekend, saw my brother and his wife after the show and spent some time, he had foot surgery and we just sat around and talked. Side note: First trip with the Caddy where I did this much driving. LOVE this car....real hiway cruiser. Thanks for looking!!!

For you model rail builders I just finished this On30 scale 3D printed box car. Nice little kit. I added step, couplers, brake wheel and wheel sets. I used Intermountain 38" wheels #40048. Tamiya AS green paint. I am making RGS decals for it now. Sold by all4toys. Thanks

Very nice work!!I have a Allison story about that car. Bobby was at the SEARS auto center at South Park mall in Charlotte. Penske had just switched from the Matador to Mercury. I asked Bobby which he liked better the AMC or Merc?? 'That is a Matador' pointing to the Mercury beside him. 'We just reskined all the AMC's'

AMC Gremlins Kit Advice
Dave Van replied to Jerry Meeuwse's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
As stated all the stock AMT Gremlin kits are the same tool. The kit is OK.....just the 70's era tooling needs a little help. I have hints on how to make it build better in my Fotki album. https://public.fotki.com/DaveVan51/2012-builds/ My build is a P/S but fit issue are for any build. Thx -
What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
Dave Van replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
To be fair......... A resin parts package from Slovenia landed in NYC USPS office Monday and it was in my hands in WV TUE!?!?!?!?!? NO LOGIC here!!! Happy but wondering???? -
While my brother was going to OSU he drove a 3rd hand Chevette. He's always answer he drove a Vette!!!! I went out whit him in his Vette one day. The passenger door seal had failed so water came in. Add spilled seed food for his birds and he had plants growing in the passenger floor carpet. Nice car!!!

I had brushes with him at DNL Hobbies......not sure if there was something held over from his AMT days or what but 'Strained' is what I'd say. thx

What's with the U.S.Post office these days?
Dave Van replied to styromaniac's topic in The Off-Topic Lounge
Not really defended. I did state once that I got a package from CA (3000 miles) overnight and was shocked!!! If I send something to my daughter 100 miles away it can take a week......so if that is defending...YES I did. Many more posts about packages going in circles for many days or passing through the same city 3 times. Thx -

I got a new personal best!!!! Package left Sugarland TX, went through to wo TX PO before being sent to Wash DC. From there to Roanoke VA.....OK getting closer. Then Greensboro NC. Charlotte NC was a good stop, visit the NASCAR Hall of Fame. Vacation over back to Greensboro. Where next??? Who knows but I hope it's in WV somewhere. -
Trade Dress covers it I think. Best not to go up against FORD and it's hundreds of lawyers......FORD needs some cash right now!!
