The Monogram 1/43 line almost did continue on after the two kits shown.......but not at Monogram!! Soon after Monogram killed the 1/43 line a key person at Monogram formed a group of folks to start a model company aimed at producing 1/43 scale plastic model kits. I was asked to help out. I modified and built 3 Starter brand 1/43 kits.....these were to be used to show what we intended to produce and to be used as display models at trade shows. I don't have the exact reasons the project/company stalled.....but the US market wasn't ready for mass produced platic 1/43 kits. This venture did turn into another model related entity but that's another story.......

If you are referring to the kit itself..... No insider info on this exact kit.....but I know often in licensing you get a blanket license. R2 had a license for the 3 Stooges figure kits. They then did the 40 Panel.....sold enough to warrant a Willys kit. Remember the tooling is long paid for. If they can get non model car guys to buy a model because it's 3 Stooges.....a win-win for us and them. I bought ONE.....may never build it.....I thought it was cool idea....and a free whoopie cushion??? I'm in! Called getting the most for your license fees.

I vote MPC with a door cut open. IIRC the IMC kit had a nose that was a bit different than shown.....but unless I go pull both kits can't say 100%.

Nice clean build!!! Is that the Revell Monogram 1/24 kit??? I just bought one to build my 66 2+2. I am sending it to a restoration shop Tue and I am building a model like I want the car so the guys at the shop know what I want the end result to be. Even though I own a 66 Mustang....never built the kit.....any issues???? Again nice work!

RETRO box was not changed.....happy molded white too....... Got two on order but yet to get them.

I have a few of those kits put back.....you gave it a steam punk look!!

There are also some very nice photo etch toggles...... They are a SS ring and a paddle handle that you attach to the center of the ring.

IIRC there are 4 kits.....two different versions of two different kits. One a 6 wheeler the other a 4. They say 1/24 but in mock up seem perfect to go with 1/20 kits.

A very cool build....perfect stance...... one suggestion....... the decal on the door looks like it has some silvering under it. It may just be the photo....but if it does have some apply a drop of Walthers Solvaset to the decal and use a new sharp pin to stick just the decal film...not the image...and the Solvaset will eliminate the silvering.....

WHY?? Many reasons.....most can't go into here. Just stay tuned. But it is correct many of the desirable promos and kits are LONG gone.

It's coming but no ETA yet. Been in the works for a year or so. Kool decals in it and we have something for it too. Plastic axles IIRC.

I like paper as a media and build a number of paper kits........but mine are all structure kits for my model railroad.

Correct Ira........the build was destroyed when a shelf collapsed years ago....I had to save this little part as it was the start. I plan to build it again....... Thanks for your years of work shared.
