  1. Like Abe Lincoln said......'don't believe everything you read on the internet' .....now it seems he should have added LHS too... My buddy who is a wholesaler said he sold out in minutes when he thought he had ordered a 2 month supply. It is proving to be more popular than Revell thought. Rumors of the death of plastic models is just rumors....
  2. How many of us here DO NOT PAINT GRAY BODIES?? After I paint my first issue of my AMT Avanti kit by dipping it in a can of enamel Dad had left open......Never not painted a model but for a 'ghost' contest build were you were not allowed to paint. A $28 Hudson kit is not aimed at kids......no apology needed.....don't like it???? DON'T BUY IT!!!! Vote with your wallet. I hear the new Revell snap Mustang is nice. Agreed....much ado......
  3. Different tool maker it seems........parts layout is a little different too. FANTASTIC kits and subject matter that 15 years ago were unthinkable ......
  4. It's been covered in the other 54 Hudson thread and in EVERY Ford truck thread. NO BS......body molds are not polished to the same degree as say a Revell snap kits mirror finish. I have no investment or interest in Moebius.......this is just my experience. Like ALL models I prep the body removing flash and gates, mold lines if any. Spray it with Dupli-color #1699 sealer, allow to dry, wet sand and it's ready. Same work to prep as any Revell or AMT kit....maybe a bit less. Lee has it right......not an issue for anyone that has BUILT a kit.
  5. Mine is the salt method....
  6. More info........ kit decals? aftermarket decals? screen print....aLPS before application? after?? end result wanted?? appearance? protection?
  7. Called a 'sealer' on the can.......it looks and acts exactly like Tamiya gray primer....and at $3.99 a giant can....works for me!
  8. For me it works like Tamiya gray primer. So yes......I use it as a primer.....and the sealer part is bonus. I have built 100's of models using it. I also use it for all my model train projects.......used maybe 30 cans over the years.......love it.
  9. Have you used the Dupli-color SEALER?? It is not the same as the Primer. Both can be bought in gray......the sealer to me is like a scale primer. I keep Dupli-color primers on hand too in all the colors they offer. But I use more 'sealer' than anything. I can get the Dupli-color at our Magic Mart cheap....and I don't like change....so when something works...I just tend to stay with it. Whatever works for each is good!
  10. I'd spend the $3.99 for Dupli-color primers and sealers and skip the WM stuff. I think it's as good or better than the tiny $8 can of Tamiya. Dupli-color has never failed me.
  11. And 1971 Torino's share NO parts with a 1972 Torino or Gran Torino.......no sheet metal, glass or chassis.
  12. One I think is under rated and I'd own is Honda NSX......
  13. Maybe the point here is that delivery was to begin last month but delay after delay have pushed it back. To be honest I have a deposit on one. Mine was due NOV but I know it will be 2016 at least. I have sat in that orange prototype and it is cool....but the delays worry me some.
  14. This resin caster had a relationship with Roth......and with his name on the car.......it can become an issue. This was not long after Roth's death when his 'estate' was going after everyone. I'd not attempt as I'd fear getting shutdown if someone wanted to do so. But by no means was it my project......but knew they guy involved.
  15. I know it was looked at once for a plastic kit....but never got past the idea stage. Then a resin caster got the OK to do it. Roth passed and the kit OK got ......'lost'.....and thus not put into production.
  16. Revell Chevy SD.....I returned it to more stock with some parts from AMT Chevy PU IIRC. Decals from a HO scale train box car set.
  17. I think today the vintage JoHan kits have a 'It's hip to be square' factor.....cool stuff....
  18. yes.....mix and match parts
  19. ordered some items recently.....nice stuff....good service
  20. Texture issue????? Shot mine with Dupli-color gray sealer (not the thick primer) did my normal wet sanding with 800 grit.......and even with old arthritic hands preped in minutes and ready yo paint. But I am HIGHLY skilled.........
