  1. Not sure why......but the Aoshema Mad Max Falcon kits have gone through the roof. Not sure if this film has driven up prices or just supply and demand in general. When the first came out they were under $40.....now around $90 and OOP. Long before any kit I built my own. It was a planned series Mad Max Falcons. This was my version of the Falcon right when the MFP buys it but has yet to upgrade it to lure Max back in. JoHan 72 Torino, AMT 72 Mustang and some parts. Other Max vehicles MANY more coming.....
  2. NO INSIDE info on this Revell project...... But I know at one time GM was a bear to get things approved while Ford often much easier and often offered help. This was during the Accurate Miniatures days when my brother in law was there....... MAY....I said MAY have something to do here. The last auto maker that did any subsidizing pf a kit was Ford.......again NO knowledge this came into play. But it seems Ford does recognize the connection between 'toys' (their term) and pinons later in life.
  3. And you'll never get them if the Fords don't sell........hint hint
  4. NO CGI....it all really worked....and is WILD!!! Each time I walked out of the movie I had a adrenaline high!! Note the 71 Charger to the right!
  5. There's only about 100 ideas in the film.....I've built from all the other movies....started a few from Fury today........ Seeing the film for the 3rd time Monday!
  6. The 'if you don't buy them....no more down the road is just hard cold business FACTS. No parental scolding here. Just truth. Those folks that will only buy a full detail Tamiya level NASCAR kit and will pass on these then complain......just making sure they are informed. Don't want these kits?? Don't buy them. It's very simple. One poster said they'd not buy because no Goodyear decals.......you didn't want the kit anyway. NASCAR kits kept the model companies in cash for a good while. Our hobby shop would place an order every Monday for kits. Cases of each srock number.....always 2 cases of #2900 for sure. What current kit sells like that??? Revell is looking at this as a test (only in my opinion) to see if that well is ready to produce again. Or do we need more Camaros, Mustangs and 57 Chevys???
  7. There is a story....just running around the Outback in cars would be OK....but not GREAT as I think the film is. Plenty on the net if you want spoilers.....I will not spill them here////
  8. Some newer Revell snap kits intended for kids are TOO polished....and that's part of this issue.
  9. If you are waiting on a Chevy or Toyota.......my advise is BUY 2 each, or more, of the Fords.......even if you hate Fords. it's been stated by someone in the know....these fail....NASCAR modern kits are done forever. I myself will buy a case each and build each Ford from the Daytona 500 2015. I'll do my part!
  10. I am a Mad Max fan from day one. I agree 1 & 2 were great........3 I can only watch as nostalgia. Fury Road is Miller's BEST work ever. I've seen it twice....and going again Monday. The entire film, the story, characters, photography and sound all great. And not because it's a Mad Max film. I see lots of films. I have family in the business. Between Ex Machina, Mad Max and hopefully Star Wars...what a year. BTW.....keeping on topic.......some great model inspiration!!!
  11. Ditto....not an issue....more a optical illusion. I did nothing but apply Dupli-color primer sealer, wet sand as ALWAYS and it's like any other kit.
  12. Saw it Thursday.......going to a 10:00 am show in the morning. FANTASTIC FILM.....I like it all......cars are unreal....I am working on a silver Falcon and the War Wagon now.....
  13. If I had better lawyers I'd right a book on the REAL story on NASCAR and who cheats the most. I was in the sport for many years.......saw it first hand......if only everyone knew......
  14. That in box is going to be full by then!!!!
  15. Lots of negative thoughts considering we have nothing but a drawing to go on. One insider predicted this......I sadly agreed. If it's not a '1967 2 door blandmobile with limited slip door handle that I want a model' of' reaction......it would be negative. I see it as a sign of a healthy hobby trying to widen the customer base and make more of what the die hards want. Too many negative thoughts.......
  16. I'd agree with that!!!
  17. I too built the kit.....Gen2 test shot. I'll need to pull it from the pile....but my notes said trim fit nicely on my version. Maybe things changed.
  18. I've had the same idea......but way down on the list. You are going into more detail than I planed.....so I'll just watch!!! GREAT film IMHO.....
  19. The chrome separate side body trim locates over the small body trim molded to the body. The test shots I saw it worked VERY well. SteveG may be able to explain better.
  20. I was asking as I glued mine closed as they didn't look right. Yours look good and wondered if you had to glue them too. Thanks
  21. Nice work on a kit often overlooked. I kinda wish Revell would add stock wheels and reissue it. What wheels and tires are those....and did you do anything to the doors???? Thanks
  22. This kit is full of great engineering.......wait until you build the front suspension.......
  23. To me the big issue is the creation of the art for the models. I have fully mastered 2D artwork that I use with my laser cutter to cut parts for models. I even sold a few at one time. When 3D printers started to hit the market I got some 3D software and tried to 'draw' some VERY simple parts.......I failed. If I had spent more time....maybe....but the time it would take means less time with my classic cars, models and trains that eat all my time now. Some will and have mastered it very well.....but I do not think the average guy will master creating artwork AS WE KNOW IT TODAY. That too will change someday. Laser cut model......
  24. I was told by a long time Monogram/Revell employee that the 'Classic' car kits were the worst sellers in the kit line.....every time they were issued. Really sad as I love automotive subjects of all eras. Monogram Packard......
