What year Pete is this?
TUFF TIN replied to skysoldier46's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Appears to be an early '50's model. If you would like to build one you should start with a T500 California Hauler kit. Mike -

These are pretty cool rigs and the only place I have seen them is in Nevada. They are transfer dumps. The second box works normally and you back over the tongue and pull the box into your truck box and reverse it when empty and then go to the back one which is setting on the frame backwards and pick it from the rear. Frame stretching?
TUFF TIN replied to skulls's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
From time to time, someone sells long frame rails on E-bay or.......... you can use Evergreen #350 for the side rails and #346 for the top and bottom and build your own. Mike -

Log Truck Chassis
TUFF TIN replied to TUFF TIN's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Making a little progress. Added wood to the steps and cab guard and shortened the safety chains on the stinger. Still lots of little things plus add the truck flaps and paint the cab and hood again. Mike Hosted on Fotki -
Log Truck Chassis
TUFF TIN replied to TUFF TIN's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Chris; No. It just looks short with out the cab and hood. They are a bit to short in the first place for me. May look a bit longer with the stinger I added. Mike -
Hosted on FotkiBeen building on this for a long time as it's really been a pain but the chassis is coming together..........finally. Hosted on Fotki A bit of a different angle................. Hosted on Fotki From the other side......................... Hosted on Fotki The stinger close up. Now I have to shorten my safety chains............................. Hosted on Fotki You may remember the interior................................. Hosted on Fotki And the cab and hood just before it's last "purple" bath. Kenworth Bubblenose
TUFF TIN replied to Sergey's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
The "Doghouse" is the engine cover between the seats. Not sure on KW but the early Freightliner the cab didn't tilt and you needed access to the motor this way. Mike -
