I like it - the model, the color, the wheels and the story!!

Fabulous conversion resulting in a beautiful model of a very attractive car. I really like the colour combination.

I would definitely recommend the Revell kit but if I was building a 1960 Corvette I would start with the excellent Revell 1958 or 59 Corvette kit and make the necessary changes to update it to 1960 configuration

I my opinion this is the best T-Bucket kit available. This is one I did a few years ago obviously inspired by Norm Graboski's Kookie Kar Hosted on Fotki

Cool model. It brings back memories of an article in Hot Rod back in the day about installing a 289 Ford in a Healey. The V-8 weighed 60lbs less than the Healey-6 and moved its weight back to the extent that the front end required lowering!!

Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I finished this just in time for the Woody Theme Class at my local model show. For under construction photos and info check my posy On the Workbench http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=92220&hl= My objective other than building the Speedwagon as a ’34 rather than a Deuce was to stay true to the original Thom Taylor design and Dan Fink build. I was surprised at the lack of detail photos of the real car on the Internet. An image search results mainly in photos of scale models. A few areas I changed from the kit to get closer to the real design and car are the addition of - roof rail fabricated with Evergreen styrene rod painted with Alclad - engine fan and radiator cowl - blue interior trim - instrument panel painted interior color with gold trim and white faced gauges Paint – The blue is acrylic enamel I had previously had mixed at an automotive paint shop but Tamiya Blue proved to be a good match. Testor’s “Wood” was used for the Woody frames and Testor’s Flat Sand for the interior. The wood panels are the kit decals. The Woody parts and dash where clear coated. There were a few after-market coachbuilders that built truck based Woodies back in the day. This may be an example of a F-1 based Woody. Hosted on Fotki

Great project and model Steve. I am always amazed when I realize how deeply, quickly and successfully Ford got into virtually all aspects of motorsports in the early sixties and then for the most part pulled out within ten years.

Revell USA LaFerrari kit - first look and first impressions.
Phildaupho replied to tim boyd's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
Thanks Tim for another fantastic review. I really appreciate the re-release by Revell USA of Revell of Germany Ferrari kits for two specific reasons - lower price and white plastic. I have one of these currently on order at my LHS as I have always found the Revell Ferrari kits very satisfying to build. They look great when completed but if never finished I do not feel I have wasted my money. I have both Tamiya Enzo kits [regular & FXX] in my collection that remain unbuilt probably because of the unrealistic commitment I would likely feel to devote the extra time to make sure I did a worthy build to justify my investment. I also have a real aversion to red plastic which both Tamiya and Revell of Germany insist on using for Ferrari kits. -
Here are some more photos including relatives. You can also check the album on fotki for under construction photos and photos of real F1 Woodies. http://public.fotki.com/phildaupho/1/1950-ford-f-1-woody/ Because I had cut things up so much, assembly was a bit of a challenge to get everything to fit together. 1950 Ford F-1 Woody Wagon - update - completed Aug 28-14
Phildaupho replied to Phildaupho's topic in WIP: Model Cars
I am not sure how it happened but I just finished this model and posted photos to fotki. I am planning on doing an Under Glass post later today. Somehow a photo of the finished model is now the first thing you see at the start of this post and I did not put there!! -
Thanks Tim for such a complete review. I am looking forward to my kit arriving at my LHS. I have previously used excellent the Model Car Garage 67 Camaro photo-etch detail set on an AMT Camaro and was very pleased with the results and assume it will work well with this Revell kit. It includes the standard grill and the hidden headlight RS version. I remember seeing my first brand new 1967 Z28 in a dealership across the line in Washington State and was very impressed. Shortly after a local road racer got the first Z28 in Western Canada and successfully started racing it with very few modifications.

I have been on a Woody kick lately with three under construction. I came across the great decal sheet from the Johan 59 Rambler I built a few years ago and decided to give it a change. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

1934 Ford Cabriolet - Early 50's SoCal Hot Rod
Phildaupho replied to Dennis Lacy's topic in Model Cars
Great model. I really like this style trend which is gaining popularity with 1/1 hot rods such as a couple appearing in current issues of Rod & Custom and Hot Rod Deluxe. -
Hosted on Fotki I am kind of surprised there is not already a thread of many pages regarding the soon to be released new tool Revell 67 Camaro. I have a stash of AMT 67 & 68 Camaros and Revell 69 Camaro Z28 kits to eventually build the three years of Penske Sunoco Trans Am Camaros. It will not surprise me in the least if Revell eventually releases 67 & 68 Z28's.

I'm building a '34 Woodie but it's really a Speedwagon
Phildaupho replied to Phildaupho's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Paul - I am using the AMT 3-window - any version will do. - Phil -
Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki With apologies to Brian Wilson and Dean Torrence I recently read an article about Jan of Jan & Dean finally driving a ’34 Woodie for the first time after changing Brian Wilson’s Surf City lyrics in 1963 from a reference to a ’34 panel to “I bought a ’34 wagon and I call it a woodie”. In the original video for the song a mid-thirties Ford pickup is used with Woodie written on the door! I decided to convert a Revell Speedwagon from ‘32 to ’34 configuration thinking it would be pretty easy but it ended up requiring numerous modifications. I wanted to stay true to the original Tom Taylor/Dan Fink Speedwagon design but giving it a fresh look as a ’34. - The door lines on both the ’34 and the Speedwagon are very similar so I cut away the cowls and rocker panels on both. - Because the Speedwagon would need to channelled, the ’34 cowl required a slight sectioning as well as the interior - The hood sides were made from sheet styrene as I wanted them smooth anyways - Sectioning the grill was a bit tricky and the V8 emblem was removed - The Speedwagon rear fenders were used mated to the outer lips from the ’34. The fenders were joined across the back with a fabricated panel mimicking a ’34 fuel tank cover - The wheelbase surprisingly ended up being shorter than the Speedwagon so the rear axle was moved forward and was actually raised slightly. - The engine was also moved forward so it would look properly centred in the engine compartment - All of this now needs finessing

Very fine examples of two great kits representing exceptional automobiles

I got Parnelli Jones to sign my model at the Pacific Northwest Historic Road Races near Seattle where he was the honored guest. He even said I got the blue pretty close and he should know because he actually was reacquainted and lapped Old Calhoun only a few weeks previous at the Brickyard Vintage Racing Invitational Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
