  1. Nice model! The green stripe really makes the model! Good work! Sam
  2. Very nice, Lyle! I love the Model T rods. Yours is just different enough to make it stand out. The Pontiac grille is a nice touch. Great work! Sam
  3. That's a beauty! I like the yellow color - it really pops! Good work! Sam
  4. John, I have to admit I'm not a real NASCAR fan, but that car is really nice! The rooster is cool! I admire anyone that can do those complicated paint and decal jobs that well. Nice work! Sam
  5. Oops! Looks like you're right. That hemi was in my old parts box from the 1960's and I didn't know what it came from to identify it. The distributor location should have told me it wasn't a 426. Sorry.
  6. Excellent!! Great details and finish. The aluminum parts really add a lot to the good looks! Sam
  7. Great build! Reminds me of the '57 Dodge wagon my parents owned when I was a kid. Good color choice! Sam
  8. I think this is a 426 in my Revell '32 Ford.
  9. ANOTHER QUICK UPDATE: I made some stools to go in front of the counter. Here's a pic showing the construction. It's all hardware store stuff. A #6 screw goes through the hardware into the floor of the diner to hold them in place. I was lucky; the plastic screw covers are just the right shape for the tops of the stools! I was stupid and didn't get enough hardware - only made six stools. Gotta get three more. Sam
  10. I use plastic pudding cups to mix paint or epoxy, or put thinner in them to clean small paint brushes. I just toss 'em out when I'm done. Sam
  11. Ed, you are the master of a rare art form! I've never known anyone who makes models of gas pumps. They're kind of a forgotten piece of automotive history. I'm glad you're keepin' them alive! Great work! Sam
  12. That is cool! Very unusual subject, and great colors. It's even got an "air conditioner" on the right side window! Nice work! Sam
  13. Super cool build! Great detailing on the interior! Those headers must shoot flames out about 3 feet! Sam
  14. UPDATE: I added some grass, shrubs, and interior details. Still not finished, but getting close! The seats are pieces of pine corner molding, tables are balsa, counter is a block of wood with a balsa top. Counter and table tops are printed paper glued on. Gotta make some stools next, and paint some customer figures. The black line in that parking space is a crack in the diorama base (cheapo paneling). I'll putty it up and paint it later to look like a pavement patch job. I can almost smell the coffee and bacon! Sam
  15. Wow! That's nice! I want to drive that one! Excellent work! Sam
  16. Great diorama and model! Really creative idea and very well done! The hammock is the perfect touch! Sam
  17. It's not dumb, but it's definitely odd and very cool! Nice job! Sam
  18. Beautiful trucks! I really like the blue. Great builds, both of them! Sam
  19. Yeah, what he said! Beautiful rod!
  20. Outstanding! A '32 that's not a Ford - that's rare! Great detailing and paint, and the headers are way cool! Sam
  21. Welcome, Mike! I'm one of the "old dogs" here, and I've learned a few new tricks reading this forum. I was out of the model car hobby for 30 years building R/C planes (still do). The new model car kits are a lot better than the stuff in the 1960's when I was building! Enjoy! Sam
  22. Very nice rendition of an unusual subject! The color scheme is great! Sam
  23. Very nice Deuce! The interior is really well done, and the color is perfect! Sam
  24. Thanks for the kind words, guys! I'm glad you like it! The diorama is coming along slowly. I've been busy. I thought that before I finish it, I would make some faux black & white pics of the diner taken just before it would have opened in the 1930's. I put a few of my older cars in front of it and stuck a "Grand opening coming soon" sign in front. These are night shots with flash. The finished diner will have awnings, some trees & shrubbery, and a sign on it, and a few other details. Its time period will be the late 1950's. Sam
  25. Wow! Nice custom Caddy! Great paint and flames, and the engine detail is really good! Sam
