  1. Thanks for the comments, guys! Chris, the blue line is a decal. I had a vintage tire marking sheet from Speedline that had them on there that worked pretty well. I "tinned" the interior with aluminum sheet, and I had some seat belts already made for another project that ended up not using, so they were a nice, quick addition. The dash gauges came from another project too, that I actually lost during that build and had to remake, so now that I found them, figured they would work on this.
  2. Thanks for the pic, Tom. There are a bunch of full-size Mach 5's, but they are true to the cartoon. I'm going for bit of a different look! I managed to get some paint on the body and the decals before I clear it. I also decaled and painted the wheels and tires.
  3. Nice work, Dennis! I'm just now seeing this, but I'll be following from now on.
  4. Hi Dann, I've really enjoyed your recent posts, including this project. Keep up the good work.
  5. This is really sweet, Lorne! Outstanding job.
  6. Tim, Thank you so much for the detailed response. This whole thread, and the one before it, have been full of lessons and trials you have conquered before us. I really do appreciate the work you have done here. -Art
  7. Tim, it’s looking great. Thanks for the reply on the primer. It seems as though you may have changed course on that since you answered my question, so I’m curious, why did you have to paint it three times? That’s basically why I asked the question, because on the brass midget I was planning to use a self etching primer, but wasn’t sure if I needed to. So I am curious what issues you ran into. It’s so cool to see this finally going together!
  8. Hey Bernard! Thanks for the comments. Like you, I originally envisioned a more late 50's style racer, like the Ferrari you mentioned. I had some Halibrand wheels that would have fit the job perfectly, but I didn't have tires readily available/ But the GT40 wheels were right there, so that's what I decided to use. Once that course was set, I had in my mind to make it rear-engined, which it supposedly is in the cartoon, but with a V8 instead of whatever magical powerplant Pops Racer installed. So a lot of what I wanted to borrow would have been from like a Lola T70, or like machinery. One problem, though, is that the Polar Lights proportions just weren't going to accommodate that in any realistic fashion. So I had to make it front-engined. In keeping with the era, I decided to borrow from the 427 Cobra a little to fit the vision. I like the idea you had with the car pictured. That would be a fun project, too. Get on it! -Art
  9. Dennis, Thank you for the comment. We met at the GNRS earlier this year at Pomona as well. I hope you can make this one. I have a flyer to the show linked on my site here: Laski Scale Specialties Vendor Shows -Art
  10. Thanks for the comments! This post was supposed to go up at the same time, but I submitted it too soon and didn't realize it until now...
  11. Thanks for all the comments! Finally getting back on this one. Here's a quick update on the Real Mach V project. I narrowed up the rear wheels and flares a bit, lined in a hood and added a hood scoop, and made some side pipes from a set of headers from the Owens Corning Corvette kit. I also made a driver's seat from a Tamiya Porsche glue bomb I had. I have decided to go a different direction from the roll bar shown here, but I will have it on the next update. Thanks for looking!
  12. Turned out well! Nice job.
  13. Thanks for the comments! I really appreciate them.
  14. Great build! Makes me want a real one.
  15. Nice Manx! I love the paint. Like others here, makes me want to build one.
  16. Wow, John, that color really pops!
  17. I really appreciate the comments, so thank you guys! Here are a few outdoor shots that show off the deep metallic of this paint.
  18. Thanks for looking, guys! I really appreciate all the comments. Brad, they are a unicorn right now, but I know for sure that the Foose models will continue, so I'm sure this one will come back out.
  19. Just catching up, and I'm loving all the enhancements, Dann. Nice work!
