  1. That's got a lot of potential! The motors look like twin nail-heads, to me. Is there a reason the headers are stuck to the frame?
  2. Hello once again everybody and thanks again for all of the nice comments thus far. Not a whole lot to show here but the interior is done as is the engine and following are a few photos of both. i realize looking at the pictures that I need to cut the thread in the interior where the door would open...oops. When the weather gets nice again, I've got to clear the body and grill shell and then polish and add the "glass". In addition, I've got an idea for the exhaust but I have to see if I can pull it off. After that we're looking at final assembly, some beauty pictures for the under glass section and then it will join it's new family on the shelf. I'm crossing my fingers for sunshine! Thanks for looking!
  3. Looking good so far, Walt. I think it makes a beautiful street rod, so I would go that way with it. But that's just me! Keep it up.
  4. This is just freaking amazing. The level of detail that you are putting into this is just mind boggling. When this is done, it belongs in a museum somewhere. Kudos to your hard work on this, and no doubt patience.
  5. That's a good question! I was going to run the exhaust outside the frame, but the more I look at it mocked up I feel like that would be too busy and distracting. So, I've got a couple of ideas I'm going to play around with and see what I like.
  6. Hey, thanks you guys, it means a lot! About the wheels. I was originally going to build this as a replica of a a 32 I saw at a car show and fell in love with. But as I started putting things together, and looking and the other paint choices etc, things kind of changed direction and I put my own spin on it. The car I used as inspiration had wheels like these on it, albeit with more rubber. I really like and wanted to use the "hella's" and figured I would keep the rubber band tires on it and hope for the best. Like some of you, I too am pleasantly please with how good they look and blend into the car and the paint job. A happy accident I suppose. I'm hoping to button up the interior today, so keep an eye out. Thanks again all!
  7. Finally an update on the deuce! It got some attention this weekend and here's where we're at. I added the orange stripe using electrical tape, secured on the ends with super glue, then coated with future to seal it down. So far it's holding nicely. I've also been trying to wrap up the interior. It's two toned with different shades of primers. I added some piping with orange thread (good lord that was tough). I had a problem with the other side panel and had to strip it and am in the process of repainting it. Once that is done I'll be able to assemble the interior and get this baby wrapped up. Right now the motor is not glued down which makes it sit a little funny. Question for you all: Does the firewall look okay all silver or would it look better painted to match the two-tone of the rest of the car. I'm leaning towards the latter but I'm undecided. Thanks for looking, hoping to have more soon. Cheers.
  8. Should do okay on the trails.
  9. This turned out great. There's really nothing not to like about this. Paint was a perfect choice.
  10. For a lot of mock up stuff I find blue tack invaluable. It's sticky enough yet will come off clean too. And is re-usable.
  11. That's a unique color choice, but it really works on that car. Is it as tan in person or does it have more of a yellow/ mustard tint to it?
  12. That's a cool bug. I think I'm starting to like these better fenderless. Well done.
  13. The hood sides look great on this. The wood in the interior is super cool too, do you have a technique on how you got it to look that way? Beautiful build.
  14. Yup, BMF is on the agenda for the next one(s) she does. For sure. Nope, no relation to the other Ryan Silva just two dudes with a cool name... Thanks for the kind words eveyone, I'll pass them on.
  15. Yeah, the cage sits really weird in the tub OOB like that.
  16. Hi All, my girlfriend Nichole, wrapped up her first two builds this past weekend and we wanted to show them off. First is the Revell 65 Shelby GT350, done in Testors Lime Ice lacquer. This one was close to finish a while ago, but had a little run in with one of our cats that jumped on a shelf above it, causing the shelf to fall on the car. I was able to help her fix the window pillar that broke as well as masking for some touch up paint. Other than that this one was all her. Not too bad right? The Charger, of course, is the infamous Fast and Furious re-issue. This kit just sucks, but I'm sure most of you know that. She did her best to make lemonade with the lemon, though, and all in all it turned out pretty good. This one is all out of box. She wanted a bumble bee stripe on the back so she made one with electrical tape. There's some problems with the interior tub that cause the body to sit above the frame, but with all the other issues this kit has, and it's just going on the shelf, she didn't want to fanagle with it too much and we're calling it done too. Thanks for looking and I'll pass on any comments to her. Happy St. Pats day!
  17. Here's my green team, lined up on their way out for some green beer.
  18. Looks like it belongs in the dealers showroom. Nicely done. The interior is great!
  19. I've got a hunch that it's real.
  20. This is now finished and under glass. Thanks for following!
  21. Hi all- I was able to wrap up my 70 Chevelle this past weekend. I kind of bit off more than I could chew with this build, in the sense that I didn't spend enough time early on getting the motor to fit right. But, that's ok, I was able to secure it albeit not accurately. There's some things I'm not happy about, but I'm going to leave it as is. It looks good on the shelf. If you are interested the WIP is here: Chevelle WIP Color is Model Master British Racing Green. I'm going to stop using Model Master Enamals, I have nothing but trouble with them. The wheels are from the Monogram '55 Ford pick up hot rod painted Graphite Lacquer and Clear. I wanted this car to dark and ominous. Something that if you saw on the street, you'd be scared to race it. NOs bottle was made using a fire extinguisher and a printed decal and some beading wire for the line. The roll cage is all scratch built. The motor is from a late '90's Jeff Gordon Nascar. The air cleaner is aluminum and wrapped in the dual snorkel outside of the air cleaner from the '62 bel air. Hoses made with wire and shrink tubing. Plumbed with beading wire and braided hose for the radiator. The pully's and alternator are from the parts box. The air collectors are just exhaust tips from the parts box. I attached some aluminum tube to the back to slip the hose over and there is solder in the hoses to help them keep their shape. The exhaust is scratched up with aluminum tubing of different sizes. The drive shaft is aluminum with ends from the parts box. The wheel wells were tubbed to fit the tires and the rear end is modified from the same Nascar kit with scratch built shocks. I realize now that there would probably be springs of some sort there too. Oh well this time. Anyways, thanks for looking. Enjoy.
  22. Here I am with at the Fall Good Guys Pleasanton show with a deuce I was partial too.
  23. Something about the back ground screams model to me. Just doesn't look right.
  24. This is going to be a cool project. I'll be watching. Just a heads up, for the Revell/Gearz contest "custom" models still have to include 50% of the original model to qualify.
  25. Are you using a compound to "sand" with or have you actually attached some sand paper to the brush? Could you post a picture? I'm curious about this one.
