  1. Given the theme of the build, I don't think the piping is too much. This is looking good so far!
  2. There's a lot of potential where this is going and you're off to a great start. Neat idea on scratching in the wood grain. I'm curious to see how that turns out. Keep it up!
  3. Really just another incredible build. That engine is a masterpiece in itself.
  4. This keeps getting better and better. Where are the tires from?
  5. Just to chime in here on the unlimited categories; the 'rules' stated that one had to use at least 50% kit parts. Now, observing the winning models for the unlimited category, I see (to my eyes at least) very little kit bashing or scratch building. Regardless, I wonder how Revell and the judges quantified weather a model met that 50% qualification. On the submission form there was nothing to note about what other kits or parts were used in the final build. On the model that I entered, I feel that I probably toed the 50% line as I did a complete engine swap, aftermarket wheels and tires and kitbashed seats. Now, I didn't count the number of parts that I swapped out from the original kit, but based on appearance it could have gone either way. I entered anyway just to see what would happen. When looking at the builds generally posted here on MCM, I'd say that there is a lot of kitbashing and scratch building that goes on. Based on trying to stick within a 50% kit parts guide line could be difficult for a lot of experienced builders and I wonder if that kept the number of entrants down at all. Edit to say, after looking again at the unlimited winners both of the 16+ entrants used a lot of what look like non-kit parts. Which still validates my question as to what point was a model 'disqualified' by the judge for having less than 50% kit parts?
  6. Now that's pretty slick! The wheels look good and I really like the head lights and the mesh grill. And the motor, well now that's just overkill, WOW!
  7. That's a beauty for sure. Great color combo and the details on the engine look real good.
  8. Bummer. Sorry about the misinfo. I built the AMT '40 in my youth and I was sure that I put a blown flattie in it...it's long gone now though. I might have put it on there anyway, regardless if was meant to go or not . Good luck in your search.
  9. That's looking real pretty!
  10. I think the AMT '40 Ford had one.
  11. I'm an in-betweener too. It's a bit of a drive to a real hobby shop near me, more traffic than distance. Michaels is the closest and all I really buy there is kits with a 40-50% off coupon or little things. If I need something right away, I'll tough it out and go to the hobby shop. But if I need/want stuff that I know I can get for a better price, and can wait for it to be shipped, I'll look online first.
  12. Too many things look real to me on this one, so that's the way I voted!
  13. That's pretty cool. Nice theme. You should photograph it on a cracker... Now I'm hungry.
  14. Wow, I really like the new roof on there. Good eye on making that combo.
  15. Hi John, looking great so far. I love the wood texture on the steering "wheel". What kind of glue did you use to glue the two halves of the tires together? I had the idea of doing something similar but didn't know what would work. Thanks.
  16. This is going to be sweet. I like what you've got going. You should put a blower on that flatty!
  17. Grant was the big dog for sure, but it was Sherman that lead the march through Georgia and Atlanta and eventually took over for Grant. Edit to add: Awesome idea for a build! Looking forward to this coming together.
  18. Wow, that engine bay looks great! Excellent weathering. What do you use for the heater hoses and the clamps on them?
  19. This thing is just super-slick, Cruz. Wow. Love the color on it, regardless of what it "really" is.
  20. Great job on the restore. It came out looking great and I love the attitude that it has. What a save!
  21. Looks pretty good from here. I like seeing it hopping around on the Rally wheels. Don't see that too often on a lowrider. Nice touch.
  22. I love the idea here, about getting the most out of the box that you can and so far everything is looking great. This last one is cool, with the metal look and all. Question, will decals stick to the gin-san stuff or will you clear coat it first?
  23. I've been following along on this one and you are hitting another home run, John. Superb job. Can't wait to see it finished up. I really envy the speed at which you build.
  24. Going model, but I bet it's a big scale.
