This build is the gift that keeps on giving. Such incredible detail work and craftsmanship on everything, it's mind-blowing. It's a pleasure to watch your work, Mark!

Looks great, nice build and great story. I worked with a guy about 15 years ago who got his dad's 68 convertible Camaro in a very similar color, with a black top. Was a great car.

I've used the same method of wrapping wire around something and then wrapping it with Teflon (thread seal) tape used for plumbing. It's real thin and adheres to itself, but this only works if you want white ducting as it won't take paint. I haven't seen it in other colors. The advantage is a little more flexibility than the shrink wrap.

Stunning interior! The wash over the BMF on the console is a neat trick. Can't wait to see this one done! -

Beautiful job and tasteful details. The PE looks great and makes me with I'd sprung for it when I did mine. It looks real good with the modern motor in there too! -
The zip tie belt is genius. So obvious a thing to use and it looks perfect! All of this is truly mind-blowing work.

Sorry if Ive missed this in all the posts, but has anyone put this new body on the 2006 Challanger chassis to see if its an easy fit? I'm thinking about doing new tech, old body pro touring style with the new 70, and wondered how they fit together. -
My goodnes that's a pretty build. Love the purple! Worth the wait, I'd say.

Looking really good so far. That's a great shade of blue.

Interesting video, cool to see the old stuff like that. Did the '54 really get 500 miles to a tank of gas? Btw, I've always said "Willies", though now I do try to pronounce it correctly as "Willis". I get that from reading a lot of car mags as a kid, but not getting to talk with many people about cars. I was never straightened out. Thanks for the post. -
Thanks for the comments everyone! I really apreciate it and I know my dad will too It's hard to wait to give it to him...

Hi all, This is a Christmas gift I've done, to give my Dad this year. It replicates a car that he and his brother owned back in the day in the 60's. I used the Revell kit's; both the SS and the Special Edition. I have to say that this was a great kit to work with and built up really nicely and easily. In order to get the correct SS badges (strangely missing from even the SS version of the kit) I used Keith Marks decals for a lot of the exterior. The color is good 'ol Testors small bottle Dark Red for the exterior and Testors flat red for the interior. I chose 2 colors for a little contrast so it is not 100% factory accurate. This is also my first totally airbrushed body and I used the Donn Yost method and I have to say it came out pretty darn good. I do wish I had laid a clear coat down after decalling as they have slivered (silvered?) a little. I did the decals after foiling and didn't want to clear over the foil. I detailed the engine some and weathered the chassis and engine bay lightly using some black wash and pastel chalk to give it a little used and driven look. I added some white metal break calipers to some small washers to simulate the disk breaks. Rims are from the '32 Ford kit. My dad had a set of mag rims on his at one point, and look better to me than the steel wheels. I used this link from Spuds Garage as reference for most of what I did with this, as the pictures my dad had were limited.http://www.spudsgarage.com/vehicles/62Imp409Lee/ Any comments and critiques are welcome and appreciated! I'm glad to have finished this ONE model for this year and can't wait to give it to my dad. Thanks for looking!
