  1. I'll be using over-sized zoomies for the the exhaust.....perhaps a little too noisy for a street rod but I'll cobble up some super traps or baffles for 'em.
  2. I quartered a 1/8 TDR Hemi head and attached the pieces to the styrene part. Bonded the other piece I cut from styrene to the TDR chunks. I'll fill in those voids with plastic scrap later.
  3. Dog gone it Brad......now I can't get that tune outta my head! Oh well, back to the Zonker. As you can see in the photo the 1/6th die cast metal heads and plastic valve covers are way too big for this odd ball size heater. 1/8th parts are too small. I didn't want to cut down the metal heads as they would add more weight to an already hefty engine........here's what I came up with. I traced the bottom and top of the 1/6th head onto a piece of paper, reduced it on the 'puter and used the reduced copy as a pattern. I cut the pieces from 0.20 sheet styrene.
  4. For what it's worth Brad....I'm like way impressed......fantastic detail!
  5. Here ya go Bart.....do ahh diddy diddy dum diddy doo..........yeah, the air filters have seen a little road grime.
  6. Before someone calls me out on it...I know those are side draft Webers, but I figure being a cartoon car I have a built in fudge factor, Ira said so! Hee, hee.
  7. What about you Doc - which combo makes you feel warm and fuzzy? Here's a shot of the timing chain cover, water pump and intake manifold painted and installed.
  8. Yeah Bart, the loaded quads are kinda cool but how 'bout 3 dual throat Weber carbs? With velocity stacks.... That's it, what works for you guys?
  9. Dual quads with velocity stacks and air cleaners..... Hang tight before you decide, there's a few more pics coming using something a little more exotic.
  10. Dual quads with air cleaners instead of velocity stacks.....
  11. Dual quads with velocity stacks......
  12. Okay gang, help me out a little if you would...... Mr. Bones doesn't want to mess with an under-driven street blower......he wants to be able to drive this thing on the street using regular old gyp joint convenience store pump gas. Below are some mock ups of 1/8th TDR Innovations parts that I haven't tweaked out or painted yet......they are white and may be little hard to see the detail, but it's there. What combo would you like to see on the finished build. Here's a photo of the cut down 1/6 scale manifold....bear in mind that I haven't done the heads or those huge Hemi valve covers yet. Here's a couple of old school four barrels..... More options coming in a few.
  13. Looks like speakers to me....... I couldn't get the camera and lights into a position for good clear pics, but I think you'll get a pretty good idea of where the speakers will live.
  14. Now we need some mesh covers to keep flying debris from punching holes in them, right? I cut some circles from copper mesh and formed them into a convex shape.
  15. After digging through the spare parts box I came across a plastic part (don't remember from what) that had some thingies on it that looked like I could make speakers from. I cut them out.......and painted them to look like big ol' honkin' speakers.
  16. I guess some days are better than others...huh? I was in the shop this morning sippin' on my black coffee and eyeballin' the Zonker......yep, you guessed it, in walks Mr. Bones to check on the progress of his ride. It always makes me nervous when a client shows up unexpectedly. He walked around it scratching his hairless chin and replied "I really like the ride dude, but it got no tunes....no tunes, no deal!" I tried to explain to him that I didn't have a lot of real estate on the inside of the Fiat to fool with but he just wouldn't budge..it's got to have some rock & roll! So I guess the first order of biz is to cobble up a package tray to mount speakers in.......
  17. Ron if you want to call my post a "tute" that's fine with me. I didn't set out to do a tutorial but if you see anything in my posts that works for you......it yours. All I'm doing is having fun and sharing how I do this and that. I'm no expert and certainly haven't attained the skill level of some of the other members on this forum. As long as you enjoy viewing the pics.....I'm a happy camper.
  18. I don't believe I have Erik......sounds way cool!
  19. John, your attention to detail is beyond belief....I find myself getting lost in your photos. My hat's off to you sir!
  20. Many thanks guys....... Yeah I think that's what it was called Jim. It wasn't very pretty or shiny, ha, ha. Looked a bit like house paint applied with a broom. I'm working on building up the frame and suspension now. It's going to have to be pretty sturdy........even though I cut down and gutted the 1/6th die cast block it's still a hefty chunk compared to plastic. Should have some more pics soon.
  21. Gotta' love those big old land yachts...here's a photo of one I restored a few years back, I drove this thing around for about a year, really didn't want to sell it but you know how that goes....money doesn't talk, it swears. Guy made me an offer I couldn't refuse.
  22. Some of you old timers may remember that "spatter" paint they used to use (back in the day) in the trunks of production vehicles.....after rough sanding all my cuts and seams, I thought I'd try to to simulate it on the inside of this goofy Fiat. Man, I hate sanding......anyway here's a few shots of the body....she's getting' close to being ready for paint.
