  1. Jeff, good to see you posting again. Your work is fabulous.
  2. Hi George! Yes I've used Devcon Epoxy on windshields, headlight lenses, etc (anything clear) it works wonderfully. I've made lenses with it by over filling dashboard gauges and letting it air dry in a horizontal position. Can you tell I really like epoxy? Lol...
  3. Ryan hi, I'm a big fan of using Devcon 5 minute epoxy. It's super strong and doesn't ever fog metal, chrome, or painted parts. I've found myself using it a great deal during my builds and use it almost exclusively on highly detailed or intricate parts.
  4. Great job and wonderful pictures!
  5. Agree with everyone else. KennB you are a true artist of styrene. You do wonderful things with the stuff. I've said it before, but I've always believed you can pretty much build anything from styrene and you've definitely shown us that. Very nice job again and I'm watching in amazement. Thanks for posting your outstanding work.
  6. Tyler, if you'd like to build your own there is some info in this post ...http://www.modelcars...2&hl=turbo&st=0 be sure to click on some of the links in the last post of that thread. Also, if you click the link in my sig and go to my Fotki page you can see some versions of the units I've built out of metal (solder + aluminum tubing, etc) as well as all styrene versions (large and larger).
  7. Bensenville here.
  8. I think most quote a shelf life of about a year in a cool dry place. At least remaining in a condition that's still perfectly usable.
  9. Just a reminder that the IHobby Expo at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center (Rosemont, IL) is this weekend. It is the largest hobby expo in the country! Always a great time, some come out if you can and enjoy. For more info : http://www.ihobbyexpo.com/
  10. Cesar, another wonderful build by you! Those are interesting wheels, are they from a Lambo kit? Cant wait to see more!
  11. Virgil, another inspiring post. Thank you sir! I agree about Chuck Most and have thanked him before for sharing his creative works with all of us. Good stuff. Modeling wouldn't be the same without a dose Dr. Cranky (and rust!).
  12. I use Fotki and photobucket. I use Fotki to communicate with a very large group of modelers + photo sharing. I use photobucket simply for hosting photos that I will post on various forums, etc.
  13. Looks awesome so far. Nice job on the paint. Wheels are great too!
  14. Agree with Mike above. I've used this primer as well as DC spray cans w/out any issues ever. No sealer, nothing fancy needed.
  15. I've used this a bunch of years ago as well. I have mixed feelings about it. It surely is "thick" ... what I mean by that is, even when dry the clear looks thick and wet on the model. Also, something strange I noticed is .. the kit I sprayed with this about 3-4 years ago which has been resting peacefully in a display case seems to have lost some of its "shine." And no, its not been exposed to sunlight, etc. So when fresh, it goes on thick and looks pretty wet and thick. After time (years?) the shine has dulled slightly. Has more shine than say a semi gloss clear still but not anywhere like it was originally. I have no intentions on ever using it again.
  16. Unusual model and not something for me but stunning and beautiful nonetheless! Outstanding as always John, thanks for sharing your wonderful builds with us. You are the Alclad master!
  17. Nice Tyrone, stance and wheels/tires look great. Can't wait to see it finished.
  18. Stewart nice work! A lil advice, you'll want to make a nice topper for the carbs and plumb the superchargers into there. Unless your running an intercooler than that will be between the blowers and carbs. Keep up the good work!
  19. I'm not seeing anyone advertise this other than in the print SAE mag. The annual model and toy show at the Dupage County Fairgrounds (Wheaton, IL) is this Sunday 9/25. It gets kinda crowded but its always a nice place to pick up a few deals on kits. Opens 9am.
  20. Rick, what is it that you want "gold plated?" Have you thought about making a mold of the item you want plated then using one of the many metallic powders from the resin companys dusted into the mold? When the resin is poured in and cures it chemically bonds to the metallic powder. There are many metallic powders which offer very convincing results. Just a thought.
  21. Hi guys, thanks for the kind words. Just an FYI ... since many of the existing molds have worn out I thought it was a good time to make some revisions to the current 2 sizes of turbo offerings. I know its been some months w/out availability, but summer brings projects to do around the house. I now have both turbos on my modeling desk and some small modifications will be made making them easier for me to resin cast. The cold side will now be 2 individual pieces and the exhaust (hot) side will remain 1 piece. So the assembly will be 3 total pieces. I may consider making a smaller (stock'ish) sized unit since there seems to be some interest. Also, the procharger molds will finally get repoured as well. In the not so distant future I will be making an F-4 Procharger. This will be a VERY large frame unit (if you've ever seen one you know what I mean lol) which I'm hoping will give drag racing builders more options on their powerplants. I'd love to see some on unsuspecting street cars too lol! As these items get finished I'll post an availability notice in the "resin" section. Thanks again for your support and kind words. ~Mike
  22. Nice Tyrone! Looks great!
  23. Stewart looks like everything is coming along nicely. Great job so far. Look forward to finally seeing it done. Thanks for sharing and updating this.
  24. Rob, the interior looks outstanding! Very creative, very nice.
