Sources for Late Model Ford engines....

The motor in the Monogram Torino is the big block 429. I personally dont know of any kit with a cleveland mill except for maybe some of the NASCAR kits (the AMT taurus nascar kit I won as a door prize has a Chevy motor in it!) You could use parts from the Boss 302 motor in AMT's 69 Cougar or Monograms Mustang to make a pretty convincing cleveland mill. The heads and valve covers are the same. Here is a cleveland mill I made using this method............. -
This is the my first finished build for the year. Was built using an old MPC pinto glue bomb and lots of parts from a mustang II firefighter kit and my parts box. Paint is duplicolor rattle can and the decals are slixx. I used parts from the AMT 69 Cougar to make the cleveland mill. Thanks for looking, Raisin

Like the grill, I used the dash from a Danbury Mint diecast, I had to section it a bit for proper fit.
-
Thanks Bill, The grill is from from a Danbury mint diecast that was sectioned to fit the opening. Hendrix resins also offers a 55 grill as can be seen on my 55 4 door. Its not quite as nice as the Danbury grill but is a lot cheaper!

This is one of my favorite builds. I used parts from AMT's 56 Ford and 58 Edsel, Lindbergs 53 Ford, Hendrix resins, and some scratchbuilding to make this 55 Ford Crown Victoria. Thanks for looking, Raisin

The theme for this years Motor City NNL was Hemi and all I had were Fords so I built this Sox & Martin Cuda. Its a Johan kit with slixx decals. Thanks for looking, Raisin

ford edsel pacer-58, beauty or a beast?
raisin27 replied to JAFFA's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The Edsel got a bad rap because of bad timing. 58 was a very bad year for all midpriced cars. Pontiac, Buick, and Olds sales were off between 40 and 60 percent that year. Other brands like Packard, and Desoto were on the skids or went under all together. Before the Edsel launch Ford had hoped to get between 3 and 6 percent of the midpriced car market, they actually achived this goal with a 5 percent share. However they hadnt counted on the entire market being down by 50 percent! If the Edsel would have been introduced a few years earlier or a few years later chances are it would have been a great success.........you know what they say "Timing is everything!" Raisin -
Really getting into these pro stocks of late, this one is made from an old MPC Pinto I picked up on Ebay. After a few days in the "purple pond" it came apart pretty easily. I used some parts from the Firefighter Mustang kit to tub it out, and am making a cleveland motor with AMT 69 Cougar parts. Got rid of the chrome headlights (I HATE chrome headlights!)and added a set from a Lindburg 53 Ford. Still got a ways to go, but shes off to a pretty good start. Thanks for looking, Raisin

Thanks everyone, the Cammer is the kit supplied one from JoHan. I think the JoHan Cammers and Boss 429's are about the best out there!

Finished up the Don Nicholson car............
-
I finally got the decals for the Don Nicholson Maverick..........still have to paint the black trim but I think I got a pretty good start on it. Thanks for looking Raisin P,S, Im not sure why the pics are so blurry, but if you click on them thet are much clearer

The Maverick is just about ready for the first shakedown runs now.............just a few small details and touch ups left, and if that Boss 9 delivers what it promises I may have to add a set of wheelie bars! Thanks for looking, Raisin

I worked a bit the Boss 429 mill, I love these JoHan engines!
-
Work on the Don Nicholson car has come to a standstill as I wait for the decals so I got out my other Maverick to work on. Got it painted and decaled. This one is being reserected from a glue bomb I picked up at a swap meet. Motivation for this one comes from a Boss 429 Shotgun motor. Thanks for looking, Raisin

Nice and clean!........thats how i like em. Raisin

Looks great........exceptional details on the interior. Im working on a 57 myself right now I just cant seem to get the dash details right, sure looks like you got it though! Raisin
-
Your lucky!, I cant even get my kids to look at a model. Raisin

That looks great...........I felt the same way after my first resin build, but have since discovered that some resin kits are better than others, and as much as i prefer plastic resin is the only way sometimes if you want to do a certain car.

Im new to the site and looking through the post it seems there are lots of great modelers here! I see there are a few names on here I know and several others that i hope to get to know. For my first post what better than my current project, a Maverick pro stock. This is going to be done as Dyno Don Nicholsons red and black car. I stared with a JoHan Maverick jit and added shock towersfrom a Monogram Boss Mustang. The motor is a 427 Cammer Ford, I found these cool wrinkle wall slicks at a swap meet and I will be using Slixx decals. For the grill I just couldnt come up with anything that made the chrome plated molded in headlights look right so I drilled them out and put in a set from the Revell 32 Ford kit. Thanks for looking Raisin
