Completed the Freightliner. Have to say this kit is nowhere near the nightmare build that I was led to believe it would be. The three piece cab was probably the biggest issue I had to deal with. When I filled and sanded the roof seam it took all the rivet details with it. I replaced them with some archer rivets as someone on here suggested and I think it turned out ok. I did scratchbuild the muffler and the mirrors. Thanks for looking.

HELP NEEDED. Trying to finish up my Consolidated Freightways White freightliner but cannot find a picture anywhere that clearly shows where the air and electrical hoses go. I can see from the kit parts that two of the hoses (I assume these are the air lines) are attached to the pogo stick but I don't know where there other end attaches to. I dont No indication at all where the electrical line goes. I have done google searches but the lines just kind of disappear in the shadows. Does anyone know of a diagram or clear pictures can be found?

White Freightliner Cabover

Getting close now. Still need to fabricate mirrors and a few more details. I want to add the hoses that hook up to the trailer bit so far I haven't been able to find clear pictures of how they are supposed to be routed. -

White Freightliner Cabover

Paint and decaled the Freightliner today. Went with Tamiya Park Green paint. I used a darker primer than I normally do which made the green darker. I think its pretty close. The paint is a little glossier than I would like so I think I am going to do some semi gloss clear over everything. -
I am making some real progress on the cab of my White Freightliner. Got the seam filled in, added some rivets, and pinned the accessories for a more positive connection. Was hoping someone might know a paint that matches the Consolidated Freightways green?. Tamiya Park green looks close but a maybe a little too light. Thanks in advance

White Freightliner Cabover
raisin27 replied to raisin27's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Its starting to look like a truck now. Finished up the chassis and got started on the dreaded 3 piece cab. Decided the best way was to sand off all the rivets to fill in the seam. I will be replacing them with the Archer rivet decals that some on here have told me about. I did convert it to a single exhaust as this is supposed to be a no frills work truck. Scratchbuilt the muffler with some aluminum tubing and mesh material that I found laying around and heated up and bent the inlet pipe to fit. I really must say that this kit has been nowhere near the nightmare build that I was led to believe it would be. I want to thank everyone for the comments, help, and suggestions. -

White Freightliner Cabover

Some progress on the White Cabover. Frame is nearly done. Working on the muffler now, I will be converting it to single exhaust. Trying to decide what I want to do with the rear fenders, red?, aluminum silver? or leave them off entirely. Still no major issues with the kit, but that may change as I have started on the 3 piece cab! -

I recently built this kit as my first big rig build. It was made straight out of the box and now I think I would like to do a more detailed version similar to what you are doing with this one. I don't know a lot about the real trucks and was wondering if you could recommend a site where I could see wiring diagrams for the brake, fuel, and other lines? Thank you -
White Freightliner question
raisin27 replied to raisin27's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Thanks everyone, I ended up modifying the brake drums to narrow the track about .050 per side. -
Got started on the White Freightliner. So far so good. I haven't run into any of the horror stories I have seen about this kit. Yes the directions are a little vague in some areas, but nothing that I haven't been able to figure out yet. But then again I haven't got started on that 3 piece cab! I did narrow the front track width about .100" by redoing the brake drums.

That turned out great. Beautiful conversion. -
For my second big rig build I am doing the single drive version of the AMT White Freightliner. I have heard some not very flattering things about this kit, one of them being that the front axle track is too wide. I want to correct this by narrowing the axle before assembly. Can anyone who has built this kit tell me how much to take out of the width? I was thinking .080" to .100"? Thanks in advance.

I was in the area last year and attended this show. Lots of nice stuff to see and a great swap meet.

My first big rig build

Thank you everyone for all the comments. I am already thinking about my next build. -
Picked up and started on one of the AMT Tobias modified kits. Whenever I build a kit I have not done before I build a box stock version to "learn" the kit and I am glad I did on this one. Definitely not a kit for beginners!

Great execution of a great idea! -
I always seem to find a few things that need some attention after I finish a build but until I do I am calling this one done. Built straight out of the box. I must say this kit went together very well, everything seemed to fit like it was supposed to and no surprises. Thanks for looking
