  1. Completed the Freightliner. Have to say this kit is nowhere near the nightmare build that I was led to believe it would be. The three piece cab was probably the biggest issue I had to deal with. When I filled and sanded the roof seam it took all the rivet details with it. I replaced them with some archer rivets as someone on here suggested and I think it turned out ok. I did scratchbuild the muffler and the mirrors. Thanks for looking.
  2. HELP NEEDED. Trying to finish up my Consolidated Freightways White freightliner but cannot find a picture anywhere that clearly shows where the air and electrical hoses go. I can see from the kit parts that two of the hoses (I assume these are the air lines) are attached to the pogo stick but I don't know where there other end attaches to. I dont No indication at all where the electrical line goes. I have done google searches but the lines just kind of disappear in the shadows. Does anyone know of a diagram or clear pictures can be found?
  3. Looking great so far
  4. Getting close now. Still need to fabricate mirrors and a few more details. I want to add the hoses that hook up to the trailer bit so far I haven't been able to find clear pictures of how they are supposed to be routed.
  5. Paint and decaled the Freightliner today. Went with Tamiya Park Green paint. I used a darker primer than I normally do which made the green darker. I think its pretty close. The paint is a little glossier than I would like so I think I am going to do some semi gloss clear over everything.
  6. I am making some real progress on the cab of my White Freightliner. Got the seam filled in, added some rivets, and pinned the accessories for a more positive connection. Was hoping someone might know a paint that matches the Consolidated Freightways green?. Tamiya Park green looks close but a maybe a little too light. Thanks in advance
  7. Thats some amazing work
  8. Its starting to look like a truck now. Finished up the chassis and got started on the dreaded 3 piece cab. Decided the best way was to sand off all the rivets to fill in the seam. I will be replacing them with the Archer rivet decals that some on here have told me about. I did convert it to a single exhaust as this is supposed to be a no frills work truck. Scratchbuilt the muffler with some aluminum tubing and mesh material that I found laying around and heated up and bent the inlet pipe to fit. I really must say that this kit has been nowhere near the nightmare build that I was led to believe it would be. I want to thank everyone for the comments, help, and suggestions.
  9. Thank you, I was planning on doing something similar to this but so far have not found any decals.
  10. Some progress on the White Cabover. Frame is nearly done. Working on the muffler now, I will be converting it to single exhaust. Trying to decide what I want to do with the rear fenders, red?, aluminum silver? or leave them off entirely. Still no major issues with the kit, but that may change as I have started on the 3 piece cab!
  11. I recently built this kit as my first big rig build. It was made straight out of the box and now I think I would like to do a more detailed version similar to what you are doing with this one. I don't know a lot about the real trucks and was wondering if you could recommend a site where I could see wiring diagrams for the brake, fuel, and other lines? Thank you
  12. Thanks everyone, I ended up modifying the brake drums to narrow the track about .050 per side.
  13. Got started on the White Freightliner. So far so good. I haven't run into any of the horror stories I have seen about this kit. Yes the directions are a little vague in some areas, but nothing that I haven't been able to figure out yet. But then again I haven't got started on that 3 piece cab! I did narrow the front track width about .100" by redoing the brake drums.
  14. That turned out great. Beautiful conversion.
  15. For my second big rig build I am doing the single drive version of the AMT White Freightliner. I have heard some not very flattering things about this kit, one of them being that the front axle track is too wide. I want to correct this by narrowing the axle before assembly. Can anyone who has built this kit tell me how much to take out of the width? I was thinking .080" to .100"? Thanks in advance.
  16. I was in the area last year and attended this show. Lots of nice stuff to see and a great swap meet.
  17. Thank you everyone for all the comments. I am already thinking about my next build.
  18. Picked up and started on one of the AMT Tobias modified kits. Whenever I build a kit I have not done before I build a box stock version to "learn" the kit and I am glad I did on this one. Definitely not a kit for beginners!
  19. Great execution of a great idea!
  20. I always seem to find a few things that need some attention after I finish a build but until I do I am calling this one done. Built straight out of the box. I must say this kit went together very well, everything seemed to fit like it was supposed to and no surprises. Thanks for looking
  21. I really like the T Bird
  22. Those are some 1st class builds
  23. The Jungle Jim, Gunfighter, and Sandy Elliot cars were models that I started over ten years ago and finished this year when I took up the hobby again. Thanks for looking
  24. Picked the colors and got a good start on the cab. Deciding on what decals to use and then on to clear coat.
