  1. I hate when that happens, but yeah, most of it will be covered. Looks great,Brother, loving the colors together
  2. With proper prep, this is what I got with Duplicolor rattlecan over Tamiya primer on a hand cast resin hood (it's happened more than just here,on different days with different parts,so itisn't just a case of improper prep or a one-time thing)... And with Duplicolor sandable primer underneath (all rattlecans from auto parts store)... I'm not saying "DON'T TRY IT!"just to test shoot it on a part/place a mess up won't matter
  3. NICE!!!Any updates? It's been a while
  4. VERY nice build!!! I always liked the 69's better then the 70's,nice to see a well built one
  5. NICELY done!!! I'm kinda a Dime/Sonoma lover myself (had a static slammed '96 Dime extended cab and a more slammed '95 2wd Blazer both last year, slammed as in,3-4" frame clearance with a static drop on the Blazer,LOL!) I'll definately be looking forward to this build!
  6. That's what I always did...until I sprayed Dupli over Tamiya on hand cast resin,LOL!
  7. They didn't play well together on a cast resin hood I used last year...I dunno if that's due to the resin,or the paints (I was using Duplicolor lacquer from a rattlecan, the ckind you fin at auto parts stores). The Tamiya primer is (unless I'm mistaken) a synthetic lacquer, not nearly as "hot" as some lacquers,it works well under it's own type, and enamels (don't ever spray lacquer over enamels though...never done it,but I remember the lecture we got in auto-body shop class way back in '90 in high school about that,LOL ). Like Rob sad,ALWAYS best to try it out on scrap or spoons first anyways
  8. KOOL build! Those ol Monaco's look good in any direction,IMHO
  9. Very nicely done!
  10. Or Roscoe catching the Dukes? NICE build,my friend!
  11. Sounds killer and uniquely kool,my friend,look forward to watching! We'll learn together,take your time,ths ain't no race,enjoy it
  12. I digs it,looks kool,my friend, nicely done! This is one of my favorite (of all time) kits too,LOL,I'm building another one currently myself (this was the kit that got me back into building back when first released),yours inspires me to get on it! Makes me wish I'd gotten out to the shop to work on it this morning insteada sleeping in,hahaha!
  13. Very nice,kool build!
  14. Steve, your build ALWAYS amaze and inspire me,I LOVE it!!!
  15. LOL,I did similiar back in my motocrossing days to some unsuspecting YZ250's
  16. Any progress???
  17. Looking good! Any progress on it?
  18. Looking great, can't wait to see more! I just started another one of these too
  19. James-It not only rained, got golf ball sized hail too,LOL! Jonathan-That Merc's looking good, paint looks a mile deep! I have another one of these,I'll build it more like yours,no flames. I was thinking of using that can of Tamiya Mica Blue I have when I get round to it...if I don't use it on a '48 Ford No worries now about losing the stuff in that fire, but thatnks my friend It was a year,a month, and a day ago-funny how much junk one family can aquire in that amount of time,LOL. Lost this lease-purchase house we moved into after that fire this month and had to move too...scam victims (people have no shame),but that's another story,LOL! It's all good, had we stayed there,I'd never have the new workshop, didn't have yard space for it,so I's still happy-go-lucky about it all
  20. The model that got me back into building after a decade+ (of not building-except that Revell '06 Mustang GT in '06) was Revell's '49 Merc Kustom kit when first released back in 2008. Unfortunately-though it didn't melt and therefore could probably be REbuilt-it was damaged in the house fire w had last year. I happen to have a couple NIB kits of it though (thanks to model forum friends who so kindly donated them shortly after getting settle dlast fall after the fire) ,so I'm going to build it again, with only a few small changes-but hopefull a bit better this time (not that the other was bad,it brought home a 2nd in the Box Stock class in 2010 at a Hobbytown show,LOL)! Anyways, here are a few pics of the original the day it was finished back in 2008 (I hadn't even got the spotlights or wipers on in these pics,LOL! )... The NIB kit... All's I got done today was to prep and spray the body (Duplicolor "Black" synthetic lacquer from a can),get the decals on,and gloss coat the hood (sorry,no pics of the shiny hood yet),as it was storming pretty bad, hail and lightning/thunder. While I was high and dry in the new workshop, with an uninsulated steel roof,it was pretty loud,LOL! I'm itching to work on this one though-moreso than any build in the last couple years anyways, because it kinda broke my heart to see this/that ne damaged last year. Besides that,it'll be the first complete build in the new workshop
  21. Thanks bunches, guys! I did get the mirrors sprayed today,it's t-storming/hailing out there now (read: steel roof on the workshop uninsulated is LOUD,LOL!),but I'll get em on tomorrow. I just needed to finish something ,LOL! Ray,see my avatar,I DO love a Mustang (and miss that one),especially a Cardinal Red droptop GT Here's the full pic... I'm itching and have already started a non-Mustang build (gasp...) that I'm pretty excited about doing (I'll be startig a WIP thread in a few),but I'm itching to finish that dang Bullitt too,LOL!
  22. That's looking FANTASTIC!!! Awesome job on the doors and engine :D
