  1. Monogram's various Chevy Lumina NASCAR kits from the early 90's used to have one of those molded into both of the quarter windows. 8)
  2. Den get him to put his name in 'da sig box so we all kan know 'm! Tanks! J
  3. faustus, Wow, you ARE building a replica! Something you got to remember is that the model guys in Hollywood raided the shelves of Hobby shops in 1975 or '76 to create that monster. Most of those kit pieces, even if correctly identified, may not be available right now. Your best bet is to create the pieces from similar parts and pieces and leave it at that. However, keep sending us these pictures... this is fun! #1 looks like sub frame connectors cut from the floor pan of a Chevy Nova. #2 could be an engine casting piece from a 1/8 scale motorcycle kit… like the oil filter on a Honda 750 with the tops of the fins ground down. It is setting on another casting from the transmission. Since there are other 1/8 scale motor parts in the mix there, ie: forks and a triple-tree, I just figured that #2 could also be motorcycle related… #3 Looks like a piece from a Truck or trailer kit. A frame part! #4 is a mix of pieces. The Frame rails are pretty thick for a model kit… more likely it’s a toy of a 55 - 57 Chevrolet (spare tire well next to the fuel tank). There is another couple of pieces stacked up over the “fuel tank†area. Could be the end of a Diesel truck fuel tank on top of some other non-descript piece. The “Mufflers†look too big to me, I think they were added over the cast in mufflers. #5 Looks too much like a transmission and tail shaft minus the bell housing. But it could just be the placement in piece #4
  4. Faustus, Neat quiz here! Really makes me appreciate the crafting that went into the construction of the early Star Wars movie props. Most of the time they flew past the camera too fast see details anyway so what was the reason? I agree, the first one is a suspension part that was flattened out... maybe from a metal toy chassis or slot car. The second one is a diesel truck air cleaner. Why the questions anyway? Are you building one of these movie props? Oh, and could you please post your real name in the signature box of the Profile section. Thank you!
  5. Very nice demonstration and clean build. Thumbs up!
  6. But of COURSE you can join!!! It's a build off and anyone can participate. 'course, I gotta get my bike posted.... "Hey Gregg, give me back my camera!"
  7. Cool pics. Now I can pick you out in a crowd....
  8. #4 is the floor pan for some type of truck complete with the frame rails. Might be a snap kit. The overall images of both look like panels from the millenium falcon movie model.
  9. Welcome aboard James!
  10. Semi-pro... sort of?
  11. Depends upon the part and where it is to be attached! Epoxy works great too as does superglue, whiteglue, doublestick tape and chewing gum. Maybe more information is needed...
  12. Doug, Gregg knows as he HAS a set... maybe if you ask him nicely....
  13. Very nice clean building style Uelder. Your posts on this site are well received! Going to the Puerta Rico show in October? I would love to buy you a beer and talk about how your going to give me that beautiful bike....
  14. None that I know of unless it's a racing car. I remember the IMC Ford GT 40 had a couple of electric fuel pumps in it that looked like that, but... unless you knew what you were looking at. Nobody knew they were fuel pumps. Something like that could fairly easily be scratchbuilt.
  15. Try these steps: There is a link on bottom of box, says Add image to post Now, it will show the thumbnail, and you can upload an image. This works right now with only the SubSilver template, the default now for the site.(Go to the profile section to change templates, or the way you view the board) We will change mod so that all templates can use this eventually Uploading like this should make board a lot faster This system/MOD will upload your image to a third-party server. You don't have to use your own hosting site to put images up now. Let me know if any problems with this.
  16. Of course he has inside info, he's the editor of MCM isn't he? 8)
  17. House of Colors paint is acrylic lacquer so cleaning off the Frisket glue is a simple matter of wiping the body down with alcohol or paint thinner. Gregg suggests rubbing out the paint with Tamiya polishing compound. I am surprised that the Frisket left behind some of the adhesive but... I suppose the solvents in the paint loosened it from the backing.... Good luck and let us see the final result please! Jairus
  18. I have very little in mind when I do any drawing... as it might skew the result. But, any of the drawings that I do are usually a combination of creativity and the desire to keep eating.... The drawing done for that issue is a piece that was destine for the 2005 Calendar. Golden Bell Press pulled the plug on that project so the drawing sat in my 'puter until I used it to fill a hole in the "Sketchpad" line up. The car is the Corvair show car, first use of the Corvair name incidentally, with different wheels as if produced and hot rodded. http://www.corvaircorsa.com/54Corvair.html The fastback roof was unique to the Corvair and does not exist in the model car world in any kit form. There may be a resin manufacturer that used to produce one but I couldn't find it. Maybe someone will be able to post an image or link? At any rate, use the link provided to make your own.
  19. Randy, Here are your Miranda rights: one of the very few rules we have here at MCM forums! is that when you register, if you register using a "handle" or an "alias", you MUST place your REAL NAME (at least first and last name) in your account "signature" so that it appears below each message you post. The signature text block is found in your profile section. If you need assistance in accessing it, contact a moderator. If you choose not to display your real name in your signature, you will receive a warning which, if ignored, will result in removal of posting privileges, but I doubt that will be a problem knowing that Doug will prob. vouch for you....
  20. Frankly, I think it's a very nice scratchbuilding project and could benefit from a little weathering. Very cool project!
  21. That's nice Bobby! The color combo is the most frequently seen next to the dark blue... Suggestion however, shoot the pictures outside on a sheet of black matt board. The model unfortunately looks like a toy sitting on that white blanket. Shoot the pictures with the camera angle right at or about eye level if you were 1/25 scale. Make sure the background is far enough away to not be in focus so the scale is not a problem. I like to shoot in my driveway so that the house and trees across the street become the background. (hope the neighbors don't find out...) Give it a try and post more pictures... k?
  22. Welcome aboard Mark!
  23. Of course this is an on-line build!
  24. Dear readers, this is an open invitation for all modelers to join us in a Nationwide Biker build off. Gregg and I will each start our own threads demonstrating our progress until done. We hope to have many bikes done by the NNL West. So Gregg, how are you going to build this winter, Hmmmmmm?
  25. You should see mine... I gotta share it with Gregg....
