Wow, that is a lot of lettering! You have pictures of all sides? Looks fairly easy, just time consuming. I think we can work out a deal off line. PM me or email me what your willing to spend. jairuswtsn@aol.com J

The chassis was already built and the body vacuum formed in clear. Body material can vary from Butyrate to Lexan or PetG. The last is easy to form but cracks easily. Yes, the car is made for a commercial track and generally the owner will drive it once in a while. But generally these cars become shelf queens due to the high cost of producing one and the fact that the motor is an antique and worth too much to destroy. My only duties are to paint, decal and detail. Most of the time all graphics and lettering are hand done with "One-Shot" enamel paint and a tiny brush. The base color and any stripping are painted with Pactra Racing Finish lacquer paints through an airbrush. Details are added like mirrors, exhaust pipes, intake rams, wheel inserts, etc.... Prices range but basic body paint is a hundred with a additional details and greater time spent will indeed raise the price. Sorry I cannot be more clear. One of my customers spend a bit over fivehundred on his car. I built the whole thing, chassis, motor, trued up the tires, painted the body... everything! He takes that one out from time to time and actually says that it set some sort of track record for the era of the car. Pretty cool stuff!

Here is slot car that I just finished for a customer and thought that this might be of some intrest to a few of you. The body is a Cooper Maserati F1 from 1967 or so. Since I received the chassis with the body already mounted, the wheelbase was already set at a short 3.75â€. Vacuum formed transmission, evergreen styrene was used to make the exhaust pipes and aluminum tube for the intake stacks Chassis is brass and steel wire frame with a Mubachi can, Champion endbell and Arco magnets with shim. 8)

Normal is relative. None of my relatives are normal... so ... NO. What's your last name Brian?

Numbers, its all about numbers.... Yes the total registered members of this forum have gone down a bit from what you might have remembered last log-on... That is because a large number of "registrants" were spammers with links to perscription drugs, gambling or other stupid websites. WE WERE INFILTRATED! Instructions: Please put a paper bag over your computer screen, as we are about to scrub the forum of all such infections!!!! Just kidding. Bad guys are already gone.... Please go back to your normal activities. Whatever they were….

You'd be disappointed anyway, they are such jerks.... :-) (especially Gregg who was FIXING eModelcars.com at that time) (Jairus was examining his belly button but we won't talk about that)

Ah..., I think Andy's fooling all of you by taking pictures of his FULL SIZE ride!

Now that's what I call "Kitbashing"! Nice project, looking forward to updates!

Car looks great but the background is not the best choice to show it off in my opinion. Maybe get some posterboard from Walgreens and prop that up in a curve with some masking tape. The styrofoam is just too distracting. Of course that is just my two cents and you can ignore me if you want to..... But the car is really cool! Love that limefire green.... Nice build 8)

Mike, Everybody wants something specific from the magazine and it is very hard to please each and every reader with each and every issue. You Mike, want big pictures and lots of explanation but unfortunately that would be at the expense of cutting maybe 6 other readers models. These 6 other readers are modelers who want to see their cars printed within the pages of this very magazine and they are very important to the survivability of MCM. This is why the staff at Model Cars Magazine generally runs a variety of articles including How-to's, contest coverage, features and reviews in each issue in order to please the broadest cross section of the public. If you Mike are a new comer to this hobby and want to learn then purchase a subscription to MCM because you will not be disappointed because we publish articles for the beginner and the advanced modeler alike. Oh yes, please put your full name, first and last in the signature box in the Profile section of this forum. Thank you! 8)

Thank you Bill, you confirmed my first thought. The metal chassis and friction motor was also a dead giveaway eventhough Hubbley used to use them in their toys.... Anybody else? This question will be going into the current issue I am working on so....the question won't be available for comment much past Friday the 4th. :?

I received this question via e-mail and the car sounds like a Promo due to the windshield molded to the body but thought the rest of you might like to throw in your two cents worth.... (sic)Hi Guys, In Issue 109, yur bud Dennis Doty did an article on AMT's 1957 T-bird J-257. I meant to send this e-mail to yall back then, but like yu I have lived more than 50 yrs on this rock and sometimes me body don't co-operate with me mind as I would like it to. Which brings me to my question, but first a little background. I have in my collection an AMT 1957 T-bird that is somewhat unusual, for me at least because I have never seen a model with this accessory. Tha model is a convertible, red plastic w/ an integral red plastic windshield frame, clear plastic windshield. Interior is White w/ Gold trim, Deluxe steering wheel w/ 3/4 horn ring. It has clear plastic headlights and red translucent plastic taillights. Both bumpers are chrome with 1957 in tha license tag space, rear bumper. Tires are black plastic w/ white plastic Deluxe hubcaps/wheels which are on splined axles. Here's tha unusual part, tha chassis/frame is metal/painted black and it has a pot-metal geared momentum motor right over tha rear axle. Tha only markings on tha model are on tha chassis plate between tha front wheels , yu hold tha model with tha front pointing down to read it: AMT INC. BIRMINGHAM MICH. Your Mission, if yu choose to accept it, is to tell me what, when and how this particular model came into existence and whether this is a promo or a toy. This e-mail will self destruct ifn yall can't complete yall's Mission. Yall have a quality mag, a bit thin, but considering yall's competition over at Kalmbach and what they did to Scale Auto Enthusiast ( I have mags going back to 1988 some even farther back Model Car Science, Auto World), Yurs is more fun. I even have a '64 Ford Fairlane unbuilt with a stock hood, it has been sitting for a long time unbuilt and yu were talking about leaving kits half done or undone. Think I have yu beat. Oh yeah, I have a few of those Imperials too. Yur in freindship, Henry E. (Zeb) Matson, Jr.
