  1. Gregg is king of the pranks at GSL. He would be soooo proud you guys!!!! Very nice!
  2. I have maybe 40 or more projects that are/were started and to this point are still awaiting completion. However, think if it this way: you actually learned something while doing what ever and... if nothing else it kept your skills sharp just working on what you did accomplish. Not everything needs to be seen through to its final result! Some projects can simply be written off, as a playground for future projects, is how I see it. Many times the unfinished project (for me anyway) is parted out many years down the road. Sometimes I am simply awaiting further inspiration or the chance to aquire more advanced skills in order to accomplish a final product. Some of my best projects were started in one decade and finished the next. Most times our hobby can be seen not so much ABOUT the final result as it is about the pathway TO that goal! 8)
  3. Yup, right now the weak point in using the computer for modeling purposes is got to be the printer! Until resolution can get as good as the commercial photocopier we are reduced to driving down to the local Kinkos to do the final reduction! Hey Ray, you don't mind if I mention you in the Ask Gregg & Jairus column I am currently working on do you? It's in connection with the engine database you are hosting and ... uh, updating?
  4. Photoshop elements is a good computer program available for both PC and Mac. It can do resizing and color correction. I think the price is pretty reasonable. Other than that... it's up to the hard ware, such as the printer, that decides how nice the finished product looks. Sometimes printers and scanners come bundled with photo reducing programs... You might watch for that!
  5. Ken, Do you mean like a shrink ray? :?:
  6. Ok, I might have been wrong on a couple of points but I stand by my basic premise. You cannot build a decent custom car in 7 days no matter how many people you have working for you. Even in Boyd’s shop! It takes a real craftsmen TIME to look at his work and make adjustments day by day in order to get it right. I NEVER finish a drawing the same day that I start it because you see things through different eyes after a good nights sleep. Most of the builders on shows like Overhauling, Pimp and whatever, have to perform at turbo speed while the camera is on them. They have to produce the part and that's it! Little chance to make changes after a good nights sleep... I bet if you talked to most of the builders who worked on the '56, to a man, they would suggest one or two things that they would have liked to do differently with their part of the car if they had more time!
  7. VERY nice tip Mike! And, silly me, I thought they would make good exhaust megaphones..... 8)
  8. It is a cool site but they have too many category’s and not enough guys posting pics of their builds..... but what are you going to do? I did find a great... I mean GREAT link to LUFT46 web site on BnB however! What a neat cool site for fantasy post war German aircraft lovers! (sigh) 8)
  9. ... did I mention that it's ugly? 7 days build time is for the public because their attention span is usually pretty short. However, this type of build generally never actually makes it into the public’s realm. And selling it on eBay at this price is really a crime! I like how Monster Garage stuff actually disappears from the public view ‘cause it's usually fairly dangerous and poorly built. However, it does have something Overhauling doesn’t and that's ATTITUDE! Most viewers who watch the Overhauling show think that these cars are just as cool and well built as anything they see at Oakland or Seattle auto show! Sadly that is not the case and usually the bondo is put on right over the rust and the paint is barely dry when the "builders" receive their new toolboxes! The coolest car I ever saw built up on Overhauling was a ’26 T built by the “Shifters†car club. No pretentious designs and no builder in-fighting, just a neat vintage rod built the old fashioned way. Now that was pretty neat!!!!
  10. Hey, guys! I know that we have hit the magic 300 mark. Aaaannnnnd ... a lot of you are probably migrants from HHB. However,... ..... and I'll probably get in trouble for saying this, but lets be ... ah... exclusive, about who we "nudge" over to MCM forums. OK? We want to keep the riff-raff out, if you know what I mean... nudge, nudge, wink, wink, say no more. (What's that mother?.. OK, I'll be right there...)
  11. Ugly and over priced... but that's just my opinion...
  12. In your profile section there is an area toward the bottom for adding the Avatar. Follow the steps and you can pull one from a web site or load it direct from your computer. Warning: The size is critical. About 1.25" square at 72dpi. Or 120 x 120 pixels at 6k.
  13. Good start... but your going to use up a LOT of baremetal on that one!
  14. Welcome aboard Billy! Your name is also your handle so you really didn't need to add it to the signature box. Again, welcome and enjoy your self!
  15. Over 300 registered members... but users? There are 118 registered members who have yet to post.
  16. Pretty car but... you need more LIGHTING! 8) Also... welcome aboard MCM Forums and please put your name in the signature box so we all know who your are!
  17. Very nice build! Your choice to use the scallops was a good one... 8)
  18. Welcome aboard Rick. Keep your hands and arms inside the car.... and enjoy the ride! 8)
  19. Naughty body John! MCM forums cannot condone the making and trading of bootleg movies!!! You are on the edge dude... 8)
  20. I may be wrong but isn't #1 and #3 wire swapped? 8)
  21. Ah... what's that Gregg? Is it like a lobotomy or something?
  22. Ok, your right ... but it looked bigger to me at GSL... :-)
  23. Welcome aboard Matt! Love the attitude on that lowboy.... 8)
  24. Some of you may know Joel Dirnberger as he has attended GSLMCC a time or two. However, for those not so familiar with his work here is a link to Joel's really neat web site. Especially a look at his large-scale replica of the GM Futureliner which is totally scratch built. What a masterpiece! http://www.joeld.net/futurliner/linerscale.html 8)
