  1. Looks very powerful! I suggest you try to shoot pictures with a tad bit more lighting. I am afraid that the pictures looks a little bit under exposed. Cannot wait to see the final product! Keep posting and Welcome to MCM Forums!
  2. No, nothing for sale on eBay 'cause everybody wants it too cheap. I generally don't make any $ any money off model guys by selling artwork. They want plastic I guess... go figure. What are you looking for?
  3. Side one, track 3 The Beatles Abby Road! (Fav Beatles album!) Beatles Led Zepplin Stones Moody Blues Al Stewart Doors Fleetwood Mac Jefferson Airplane... etc. Love them all!
  4. So... advertise and get your first customer! Usually word of mouth is enough to generate plenty of business later on in this very limited a market. Your models in general are beautiful and the headers specifically are very well done. (What were you planning on charging for a set of custom made pipes anyway?) However, many of the modelers that I meet are very self-sufficient choosing to either use the kit parts or make their own if needed. Good luck in your venture if you decide to move forward!

Wow! That really is quite nice. Especially like the primary belt pullys instead of the "over-the-top" kit pieces. Well done!
  6. The box art is nothing to write home about but the kit is well received! I wish the folks at AMT would pull there heads out... and produce some decent artwork for the boxes!! But then that would require some .... THOUGHT!!! And we know that they don't want to do that....
  7. Looking forward to seeing you again Miguel!
  8. Neighbor and future club member too B! J
  9. I have been a member of "Scale Auto Builders Association (Inc)" since 1982, or so it says on my name badge. Bob Paeth was the President then ... (I think), my memory is not what it used to be. Anyway, the club did more to increase my technical experience and talents in modeling than anything else I could have done! The chance to bounce ideas off other modelers heads, learn tips for painting and detailing... Watch what others were building. It was a fantastic time for me. I would drive home with soooo many ideas and inspirations in my head that it was almost impossible to go to sleep that night with out spending an hour at the "bench". I would have to say that my association with SABA was without a doubt the major reason I managed to do so well at the 1986 GSLMCC. (look it up) Clubs are also great for trading kits, generating money for local shows and holding building seminars for the public. The latter is important as it usually generates new members for the club. Yes, MCM forums have a lot of those traits and is a good thing for builders who have no club association. But there is something special about building a face-to-face bond of friendship with others of like beliefs and values that gets lost here. You really cannot have those bonds with the impersonal connection of the computer... which is why Gregg and I choose to make everyone post his or her real name. At least now you can say that you know someone at least indirectly when you run into... say, “Biscuitbuilder†or “MrObsessive†at one of the shows. Bob, meeting night Sunday! Don’t forget!
  10. Sorry zeb, I don't care for polls.... but Classic rock, blues, talk radio, and classical music in that order... Hmmmmm, a little Jazz now and then is cool too.. Miles Davis is my fav! Oh, vinyl is the best way to listen to music as far as I am concerned. Have many hundreds of records... many hundreds of 8-tracks and lots of (Gasp) CD's! No Mp3's however....
  11. Now thats DANG cool! The hauler needs something on the nose.. either the VW logo or a peace sign... something. Very nice building and great photography! 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8) 8)
  12. Oh for heavens sake! http://www.modelcarsmag.com/
  13. The magazine is available at most of your better stocked Hobby Shops. If that is not possible then a subscription is the only option. You can sign up for a subscription on the website, but you will need a credit/debit card. If you want the January issue, then you need to sign up now because it takes about 30 days to get the first issue started. http://www.modelcarsmag.com
  14. It's my understanding that the Willys was an "economy" car. Small with a little flathead 4 engine. Nothing exists to my knowledge that fits that bill other than a Jeep motor. Could be that Revell of Germany has a 1/25th scale Jeep that your could remove the powerplant... However I have no idea where else you might find running gear, bumpers, interior, trim.. etc. (Remember Willys/Overland produced the original Jeep?) Before starting ANY project I do a lot of research to see what parts I can aquire and which I will end up needing to scratchbuild. Obviously you could scratch build the WHOLE bloody thing if you have the talent and time. But where would the fun be in that? Sounds like a fun project. Keep us updated on the progress please.
  15. Very nice Charlie! You will make a nice addition to this crazy bunch of plastic benders... Welcome aboard!
  16. Looks good so far... got any close up shots of the woodwork?
  17. Since I have never seen you wear a hat... I figure I am pretty safe.
  18. Mini Lites found as optional wheels in many MPC kits would be a good choice. Lots of guys used them for racing back in the day. The most current kit to have them is the AMT 1973 Mustang kit.
  19. Doug, Gregg is gone back to the islands but your models are on my poker table awaiting our next meeting... when ever that may be....
  20. Bob has been a fixture of the model car world since dirt was invented. Here is one of his models on the cover of Model Car Science way back when I was playing with blocks.... The MCS X-100 was Bob's car and a how-to article written by the the man himself resided inside this issue. Yes, he signed it for me a while back and NO it is not for sale!
  21. Welcome aboard the fastest growing model car forum on the web Bob!
  22. Very nice car... but then the standard model is/was pretty nice too! Taillights are actually the best part of the "redesign" while the doors are the stupidest. (Makes sense in a crowded parking lot but the expense of engineering and gas struts just to keep them open says PLEASE NOOOOO) Headlights are cool! I wouldn't hold your breath on Revell making a kit of this design.
  23. Using the backside of a #11 blade means flipping the blade over and using the dull side for cutting. NOT the sharp side! The sharp side should be up. The reason for this is that the cut removes material instead of spreading it apart like using the sharp side would. One also needs to hold the handle at a very high angle with regards to the surface to be cut. Scale Race Cars makes a photoetched blade that fits the standard Xacto handle just for this use. It actually cuts a finer line than the back of a #11 blade and sells for $8.00. You get 9 cutting blades called "Scriber blades". Check them out at: http://www.scaleracecars.com
  24. Suppose to be out any day now! So, watch your mail box.
  25. Looks good so far... what did you wrap around the seat? Is that real leather?
