  1. Big thumbs up from the dirt and rat contingent!
  2. INS sent her back home... it's printed on the cover now. Check your latest issue.
  3. Better watch'et Zeb... I almost deleted this....
  4. Oh, it's lightining fast to the printer and then to the presses. The slow up is the poor guy putting in the staples..... Takes him a loooonnnnggggg time to staple all those issue with his trusty little "Swingline".
  5. For me it was this one... The T-bucket is a 1/25th scale model. The figure came from the Boot Hill Express with modifications. On the floor is a red tool box and the battery. A revolver sits in the drivers lap. He's wearing tattered jeans and his bony feet are on the peddles. His hand is on the shift lever. Engine is a V12 built up from two V8's. Lots of scratchbuilding here. Lic plate is tin foil. Fuel tank is a modified piece from the Tom Daniel Piewagon. Features working steering and a see through radiator made up of photoetched screen stacked to acheave believeable thickness. Note the antifreeze stains on the radiator. 8)
  6. Looks like Bob Paeth's finger.... Great tip!
  7. Chrome resin! I have been looking and looking for that stuff... I saw an ad somewhere..... Oh! And TIME! That has been in very short supply lately.
  8. "And now for something completely different...."
  9. That is a very nice airbrush but ... seems a little overpriced to me. But then I am used to Badgers so this maybe the right price. Especially considering the coupon... Anyway, a double action airbrush takes longer to get used to but.. once you get the hang of it, you will NEVER go back!! Wouldn't hurt to check the hobby shop and local art store to see if they have the same product at a more reasonable price. Couldn't hurt, right?
  10. Plastic is not porous like wood, nor is it made up of fibrous particles to soak up and store wood stain. Therefore, I would not recommend using any products designed to stain wood to make plastic LOOK like wood. On the other hand, stand back 25 feet from a real woody and just try to see the wood grain patterns. Generally, the structural wood pieces are a lighter color, have a slight yellow tinge, and no apparent wood grain. The paneling however usually has noticeable grain. The simplest method is to paint a base color on the framework and a base color on the panels (usually darker). Then mask off the framework and lightly dry brush horizontally very light tan and then black over the panels to simulate the grain. Clear coat the whole structure and you are done! Of course replacing the plastic pieces with real wood is even better….
  11. This is all I could find in my magazine collection. From HOT ROD July 1970. Sorry it's not a 1969 Camaro, but a '70. However from this I think you can get an idea of what the '69 probably looked like... 8)
  12. No, your not crazy. I remember a truck that held a whale was photographed and published in HOT ROD magazine racing Tyrone Malone's V12 Diesel powered "Fastest Truck" on a back road at dusk. There were flames coming out of both stacks and... it was pretty cool! That was late 70's by the way. I just went through two boxes of HOT ROD magazines and didn't find it but... it was just a single photo, not an article. Don't think the trailer was glass however. Might have had windows or something tho... :?
  13. Craig answered this question wonderfully. It is all about money and the biggest purchasers are Walmart, Kmart and the other big store chains. Hobby shops are, unfortunately just a blip on the marketing environment. However, AMT is no longer in the business of making models. Point-of-fact the model section (which includes Polar Lights and MPC) is now up for sale. All products announced and in the pipeline will be produced and delivered but nothing new beyond that. Model King and Stevens International currently have free unlimited chance right now to produce anything they want from the AMT archives. NO LIMITS, until AMT is sold... if they are sold. If there is something you want to see produced… I would email Stevens as they are searching the warehouses right now! Things are in kind of an insecure state of flux right now... but it will settle down in a year or so.
  14. Very, very cool! Nice work on those, I might take you up on that sometime... 8)
  15. Excellent work on the Camaro. Put it somewhere besides on the deck and you could fool someone....
  16. Welcome to MCM forums Tom. I think you will fit in very well here! 8)
  17. Tim, you had better photoshop in some sparks there.... they look like this....
  18. Welcome Kim! I'll show you mine if you show me yours....
  19. Black rub strip: Mask it off and airbrush it! Very simple, you can do the masking with blue masking tape, no cutting, shoot the black under low pressure with the nozzle real close so no overspray. But don't put it on too wet or the paint will try to creep under the tape. Very nice build!
  20. Do it! I DARE YOU!!! They have been like this alll week and it's driving me nuts.....
  21. The trailer is just too cute!
  22. Hey Gregg... how about Harry doing a sketchpad once in a while? Harry, put something together... 4 pieces that are original and based on available kits and submit it to Gregg. Okay? Oh... Love the '59, not so much the '58. Dodge Charger is perfect but it needs a wider grill in my opinion. Your Photoshop skills are VERY GOOD by the way....
  23. WOW! Now that's cool! Let's crack open one of those bottles and celebrate
