Who makes a '37 Ford sedan delivery body?
Jairus replied to bobss396's topic in Car Aftermarket / Resin / 3D Printed
Mill City Replicas used to sell a '37 Ford Sedan Delivery. I know because I brought one! It is not good however even being a two-piece mold, because the sides are not the same and the roof was too flat. It also did not have the correct body side moldings around the rear fenders. I started correcting it and got disgusted, tossed it into the box and forgot it until now. I figure that since Mill City had one in the past... nobody else has tried to do another, more correct one. Mill City is no longer in business by the way but those bodies may still be out there... By the way Bob, we need you to post your last name too please!!! Tanks! -

Pretty nice Carl! Have no idea what your talking about but I LOVE the details. Might put a flat clear coat on that driver... unless he is sweating a lot....

Only response I got back from Model Car Hub was that their inbox was too full to take another request. No help there! As for the R&D unique engine... I could consider that a great choice as a starting point. A little research and you could fab your own F.I. intake. 8)

Ok, I did some searching. Looks like the wheels could be scratchbuilt using a set of 8 spoke minilites with a thin sheet of styrene behind and 8 tiny little windows cut out between the spokes. Not easy, but I suppose you could get away with simply painting a set of minilites gold.... As for the diecast question, I went to the Model Car Hub question and answer site and punched in Cosworth Vega in diecast, kit or resin. They will email me back results and I will post it here. 8)

Kyle, Street rods are so subjective that I think it would be best if you started on your own, by picking up a Rod & Custom magazine at the Grocery store for ideas. They have lots of examples of that era of car that I am sure you can apply to your street rod project. I think that it will be much easier that way, than someone on the board suggesting ideas to you. Page 38 of the current issue has a fantastic example of a rodded '31. Check it out! 8) -

I would bet that your best chance is to use Google and look for hobby shops in your area. I live in Salem Oregon so I really cannot help you.

Sources for Late Model Ford engines....
Jairus replied to a topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Well, that is correct in that the engine from the Torino is labeled as a 429.... however, since there are no decent kits which contain the short production Cleveland 351 (1970 – 1974). I suggested starting with the Torino engine. It CAN be built up into a very believable 351 Cleveland because I did it! You see, I used to own a 1972 Mustang Mach 1 with a 4 main bearing version of this engine. I spent a lot of time on my back under that engine in the 5 years it was in my garage and I can tell you first hand that the Torino engine is the closest you will find! You could source the heads from the ’70 Boss 302 as they ARE Cleveland heads… but the differences are so slight as to be nearly nonexistent. While I had the Mach, I replaced the pan gasket; the timing chain, the starter, radiator, and valve cover gaskets, rebuilt the 4bb carb twice and fretted over the vacuum tubing constantly. It got to the point that I could work on that engine without turning on the freaking light… Michael "Raisin" Garrett is correct however, that you could use one of the NASCAR kit engines. But unfortunately that will require you to find another source for a correct oil pan, correct intake manifold and auxiliary components. The Torino already has those plus the correct 4-speed tranny. Why make it harder than it needs to be? The only major modification I made on my conversion was cutting away the forward part of the intake manifold so that the cooling hose and distributor could be mounted directly to the top deck of the block, as this is the most obvious feature of the Cleveland. The rest of the casting is spot on with the Cleveland including the timing cover, oil pan, fuel pump, water pump and block casting details. Okay? Okay! -

Thank you Doug but, I take no credit for this piece. James is the builder first and foremost. Something you guys might not understand is that this car is COVERED with baremetal foil! The whole car!!! Then tool marks, such as that a grinder might leave, are applied to the surface. Fantastic eh? Not only that but most of the floor has been replaced with vacuum formed panels which were pierced and distressed prior to applying rust. James is a master of weathering and this is his masterpiece. 8)

Fatter tire for choppers?

Now that's worth writing home about.... -
Needs some work but the potential is there... Going to have to replace some of the floor panels... Well, it least it's got a jack... Hanging out in James' back yard I managed to snap a few pictures of his latest project without him seeing the camera. Chris is none-too-happy with this latest project since there is already one in the garage taking up valuable space her Magnum could occupy but.... what are you going to do? 8)

isnt this the lovliest house youve ever seen??
Jairus replied to JAFFA's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That makes more sense today with modern engines and pressurized fuel systems. Today’s cars really don't stink much but the older cars with their vented gas tanks and carburetors smelled of gas and oil all the time. Even the new ones! It's sort of like smokers... you really notice them now that smoking is all but banned, but there was a time when you walked into a building and really didn't notice. It was simply a part of the ambiance. It’s the same thing with older cars. -
