1969 General Lee Stuntcar WIP
MoparWoman Jamie replied to MoparWoman Jamie's topic in WIP: Model Cars
Okay, here is photos from when I first got it back in 2012. -
Okay, I been at this project for well since 2012. Me and my wife thought since our son loves the Dukes of Hazzard General Lee. We that at the time back in 2012 maybe he would love to have a model of a General Lee since he doesn't have any models. I asked grandma & the mrs what was his fav part and they both said he loves to watch that car do the jumps over things. He also always wondered what did the cars look like when they came down an hit the ground. He didn't know those where called the stunt cars an neither did my wife LOL. Anyways I got talking to the mrs & grandma about how the model should look and also I gave the idea of why don't I build him a model of a General Lee but of a stunt car one though and have it bang up here and there in the tail and maybe give the front a hard impact look. Like say as if the car came down at a tilt an hit the ground. So in summer of 2012 I got a AMT General Lee model that was or had been assembled already by someone in at my local hobby shop and I easy started to remove the decals off of it by soaking the model in warm water. I have to correct the rear window area anyways. The interior tube is like a blank one. I took an scribed the driver side door seam. I wanted the model to have at least one openable door. Plus a openable trunk as well. I knew I would have alot of correcting to do on the kit since the model lacks alot of detail. I have no issue with correcting stuff. That what makes model building that much more fun to do. I wanted a better looking engine bay and also more detailed interior tube as well. I'm working the blank out one to as that is the type I will need for this project. I'm building a roll cage out of brass for inside the model that will be base off what the real General Lee stunt cars had in them. The real stunt cars didn't have very much in the interior at all. I am redoing the "almost" whole front end of the model both chassis and shell. First I have to make the stuff look pretty then damage it. The stuff I'm doing on the 1969 Charger build I have going on here as well is also going to this build as well LOL. My son doesn't know even though he has looked at this project that it's his. My intentions are is to get the details close to realistic as much as I can along with the weather effects as well and to make the model car look very much like a real car as I can. I will post photos asap. I'm also open to weather effect ideas as well.

I been working on this project along with a AMT General Lee model that I'm building for my son. This project an that project has a lot in common. A lot of the pieces I'm building for this one I'm also stamping for his project as well. If you all are interested in seeing the project I'm doing for him.. I'll post a thread on his project. But his is more a stuntcar then this project is though. I'll be updating this thread asap.

I know it's been a while since I updated this project. I talked to my mother-in-law back at Easter time this year. I got her input and also my wife as well on it. I know I can do better on the floor pan an chassis as well. I have a vision of what I want this project to look like when done. I do have a few other projects going as well. A few I have not posted about yet.. I might maybe. But with this project, I been studying here and there of what the real car looks like, and watching on you-tube on how NASCARs are built and how the cages look. I want to get back to working on this maybe this weekend or soon.

"NEW" MPC Dukes of Hazzard kit not what you expected
MoparWoman Jamie replied to Greg Myers's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
So, whats the new tool? So far I have not seen anything new in the kit. From the looks, looks like the rims got worst instead of better. The push bar wanna bee thing is still the same. The only new thing looks to be a Roll Bar? -

Just because the box art looks all nice an fancy, doesn't mean the kit inside it will look or be anything like what is really on the box art. -

You might want to adjust those front wheels man, the Revell ones always sticks way out more then what the rears does just so you know. -

No, I'm referring to the roll bar pipe itself. The have the kit roll bar from the Landy kit molded in the wrong spot. Move the roll bar pipe that sets behind the pass side person shoulder up to where they're head area will be at, that will lead the roll bar pipe up to the roof been area in the roll bar leg. Just so you know onn the show in the 1980's they also ran with a no middle bar as well in some episodes. The correct way with the middle bar in. -

Your roll bar, the bar behind the pass seat should be at the bend at the top of the roll bar. Other wise your doing one great job! -
The roll bar in the real cars was contoured to the car sides mean it was slightly bent at the base of the side windows tilted inwards to the inside of the charger roof where it was then ran across the back area of the front seats interior roof area. BTW, great job on the projects so far! I love both of them.

Just so you know, that Clip features one of the original General Lee's from the tv series. I'll be keeping an eye on this thread for sure. Keep up the good work on the projects. I have a few General Lee model projects going on right now myself.

Okay you all, I have a question here and I'm down right not even sure how to even ask it either. I checked my system, ran virus scans and even went through the Program folder as well looking for anything but couldn't find anything in related to the issue. I even went through my browser plug-in's and ents as well and yet nothing. What I'm talking about is I have Ad-block on my system so when I come to the site here there is no ad's at all.. well yesterday when I came to visit the site again I was hit with 3 ad's from "Ad's By Supra Savings" and I can't block them at all, I get with 3, one dead center of the top of the site and a scrolling one on your right, and then one right at the bottom of the site or page as well and the same thing in every thread I go into on here. Is anyone else having this issue as well?
