  1. Real facts, before they went with the 1969 Dodge Charger as the General Lee, they did look at at few other car makes like a Camero and so on. They even had planed on having the flag on the hood and not the roof. It was then moved to the roof due to the hood area having indentations. Plus the color original was not orange.. it was confederated gray, but due to the cameras and the color they decided orange was the one. If you all say in that clip is the first time you get to see the fenders fold back under without a cutscene. You haven't really watch the episodes of the 1979 to 1985 series Dukes of Hazzard tv show. As in some of the episodes you do see the fenders crumple, buckle, fold under.. you even see the whole charger riffle and crumple on landings in quite afew of the episodes before they cut the scene. LOL
  2. I seen both versions, I have to agree. The original is better and I love the original one and also the feel behind it as well.
  3. Hi Dave, I'm thinking metal cab as well right now too, lot of work? in this hobby it's fun work I guess LOL. The cab does have sone contours in it, but I think I could pond them into the metal probably. Your right about the roof. I was looking at the kit cab the other day when I was doing the leaf mount location spot find. The roof is like a bow shape that folds down on the sides with a rise in the center.
  4. Okay, here is one more photo I still have to add more weld to the driver side, and shape that side a little more yet. I hope some of you enjoyed this update.
  5. Okay, after I cleaned up the weld. I got to the leaf mounting block That area that is notch out will have the frame rest into it. Okay later on (4 hours later) I'm still shaping it up yet Okay I got more shaping done
  6. I notch the frame a little so that the weld can have something to melt/grab into Okay, so I tried at first with high temp #3.. I think it was the wrong setting The other side..
  7. Cab & hood back on or well hold in place by hand to see The front rear leaf temp being rough drawn in
  8. Hi you all, well I been a little under the weather this week. But anyways I started out by looking at the hood and cab. Getting or trying to figure out where the front rear leaf mounts would be located at.
  9. I think your doing some very good work so far on this project man! I love watching all your wip projects when you post them. Keep up the good work!
  10. Love the updates man! also like the color combo as well.
  11. Hi Sean, you know to be honest, the thought about the hood cross my mind but after talking to my friend that is a big Mack fan of the old school rigs. He told me the hoods back then was fiberglass. I figure if they was fibderglass the plastic hood would fit right then. Now when you also mention the re-fabrication of the cab out of steel. You know that thought have indeed cross my mind quite a few times aready and to be honest I would be up to it as well. The plastic one right now is being use for mock ups and lineament deals on the chassis pieces locations. So a decision for on re-fabricating a metal is still open yet and been crossing my mind. What would you all thoughts be on a metal cab for this project? reason is because even my friend is like me. He not sure. We are planning to run interior lights by using LEDs and also cab lights.
  12. Hi Doobie, thanks for the kind comment. You are 100% right on about the steel box being cut in half for the chassis rails. Probably this weekend.
  13. Almost in the correct spot. I hope to start working on the front rear hangers tomorrow evening. I hope you enjoyed this update.
  14. Taking a good look Now with both pieces Looks straight to me
  15. Here I started to mock up the unit to see how close the holes was across from each other
  16. Okay, after a few days. I did get the hard part almost done now. Now was the fun part, cutting the scribe line to bend the parts at. The white strip is a guide line for both sides Here you can see that I have the pieces apart. Here is the first one bent into it's unit, one to go yet!
  17. Funny you say that, she for got about till 5 minutes to midnight during the end of that night! LOL
  18. Okay, it's start to shape up now. Had to make a tweak I hope you all enjoyed this update, sorry if there was alot of photos. I have not updated in a while. Feedback is always welcome on the project.
  19. Started to open up the hood temporary hinge hole. Then I got back to the front end of the frame, to work the work the front holes a little more.
  20. Cleaning up the pieces now. Drawing out the design now, still need to cut afew places out yet
  21. I glued the pieces together with superglue (Crazy Glue) to make both pieces at one time and also to get the holes all the same. Marking the bend marks all the way across The holes all look good to me now this time around.
