But something to me look strange, so I took it outside to see since the work area light was acting up. Sure enough, the one side was okay, but the other side was not, some how afew of the holes was out of linement. So I went back to the work desk, and with having the old negative yet in the desk top, I started to draw it back out. All the holes was there and also the markings. Now with the new drawing, I used a 1mm piece of no trasspassion sign that was plastic to make a new jig.

Hi you all, well I been busy at this project for a while now. I had a jig issue and took care of that. I also want to say "Thank You" to Tony for the links he took time to gather to post to help me out more with my brass work skill building. Those links will help me out a lot in due time. I'm still reading on a few of them yet. That is some very good info. Getting back to the project at hand. I am going to mix materials on this project. But first thing first. I want to get the frame of the chassis off the ground.. my main focus is really on the chassis kinda. I'll let the photos talk. I started about a month ago by cutting a strip of stainless off, to use to start making the front leaf hangers, rad support, hood hinge. Once I cut the piece off, I started to use the smallest dremel drill bit I had in my small pack.

As I been working on projects in the evenings, and as we come out of Winter, and the months are seem to be going fast now LOL. I realize last week after the mrs asked me if I knew what next week was. I look at her and ask what month it was and she said April I looked at her and said yea it's spring time LOL. Then I said to her I knew what next week was. This week, today was our 2nd anniversary. Our son got her on the radio this morning and I got her on the net. LOL

You can see the top starting to take shape now I hope you all enjoyed this update, I have more photos yet on the camera. Comments are always welcome on the project.

Here I started working on the driver side now Here is a nice shot
-
Here you can see the angle that I filed at
-
Here is a pass side view of the console Here you can see the side plate trim is now in bad shape.. don't worry. Here is a good close up Here is the new top plate trim. Now the thing is, on the the real consoles they are slightly tilted, the kit one is not. So I used a hand file, a wide one about 1/4 wide and easy filed the side all the way down at an angle until the kit trim pop off. Not, I'll be leaving the top straight in front trim piece on for the time being

I needed to drop it down more and also reshape the gear plate area as well, it's still in rough stage yet. Test fitting Yes, as you can see, I glued the shifting gear leaver hole shut. I am going to rework that area as well.

I removed the console back out of the chassis, did more filing on it
-
Well I have had an off week. Lost one friend, got some yard work done. Been working on the semi project and this one mostly. I been filing away on this console this week. It's almost there though. I had to take and redo to the console top plates as well. I even glued the console into the chassis and one seat just to see how it looks and how much more I had to file down so things with the dash in place would look. Anyways on with the photos. LOL
-
Thanks man, I have more photos coming. The console is almost done.
-
Here is a mock up to see how things was looking I hope you all enjoyed this update, I do apologize if there was alot of photos posted at one time.
-
Now after 3 front pieces was glued togother Roughing it all in now Front conture filed into the front of the console for tranny tunnel Early stages of dding the plate side rails to the to of the console for where the console top plates will rest on
-
It's starting to take shape more now Pass side now gets the outer piece as well Now the 1st piece of the front went on
-
Working now on the driver side of it on the outside piece of the shell Now on the inner pass side of it Now on this side, I got a lot of detail to add as you can see Now if you look right here at the very front of the console, you will notice that the company didn't put a drop down on the console at all. The reason is there floor tube is 1mm thick and instead of them doing like what the factorys did with the floor pans on the real cars, they decided to add to layers to the model chargers floor. one being the chassis and the 2nd being the charger interior tube. So now I'm correcting that issue on this build. I'm building the console sides up to add a front to the console before removing the console plate. Note, the pass side console trim, carpet area is in the correct spot. Sadly I still have to remove it and re-add it.

Here I used a piece of plastic beware of dog sign. Here is after I filed the original console side down with my plastic piece behind it with rough shaping cut out. Here it's starting to take shape now of how a real console looks like

Hi you all, well, as the weather around my region bounces back & fourth as in one day it's nice or afew days it's nice then wam back to either raining or snowing or both! I got back to this project once again to tackle a few things on the plastic side before turning the stuff into metal. I'm working on the floor board now, correcting the area. It's like another member said not long ago in another area of the forum about the floors in models and how the companys can mess it up. I agree with that member. In these chargers, they have slight drop down inside the doors on the floor. The floor pose to be the same as the chassis floor board impression is not like the interior floor board that is flat across. So I'm making the correctness on this one. On top of that, I'm also reworking the console and modifying it big time to be way more correct to how the real ones look. Anyways, I'm going to get onto posting the progress photos. Now here is the console, as you all can see, it started out as the original kit console. I? already moved the console lid edge up 1mm even if that. I cut the console lid out as well. Better view Here I started to mark more things out as you can see Now here you can see how far the front driver side of it bowed outwards of the original kit style

Yes I did ask for suggestions, but may I ask you two things.. what photos are you looking at the old or the new? Shelf framing? 2nd, you even told me before (last summer) to go with something that is uniform all the way and will hold. The steel is, it's uniform on all side, brass is a soft metal, the different between the two is one you can only weld to and the other you can only solder to. If I start with sheet brass, how do I know that it will be uniform all the way through plus have the drop down in the front like what this project calls for? It won't, the only way to get that in one shot would be plastic or resin, cutting the channel is the only other way to get that drop down, unless you used a machine press with a die. About the finish, the whole thing will be painted but I do understand where you are coming from though. Plus when you said rusty, you must be looking at the old photos from last fall, because the new ones doesn't have no rust on them. If your looking at the new ones the welding areas is not rust and those things have been clean up.

I hope you enjoyed this update.

Here I'm noticing areas, I used the dremel cut off wheel for the job. These notches will be use at another step. They are there so when I go to weld the lines will not vanish off the paint. If you look close, you can see what the notch lines are for really [https://scontent-b-ord.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-prn1/t1.0-9/1969361_10203690508487512_711768230_n.jpg Here you can see one hole mount drilled in the driver side of the frame rail (I still have to drill the other side), this will be a (probably) temp locations for the hood hings to ride for me to get the cab on the chassis and things all line up. Now getting down to making the whole temp to make the whole whole temp-let for the leaf, hood and radiator to hook to. These part here will make two parts that will be the circuital parts of the build to make sure everything is line up right. I just get 1/2 drawn up and fold it over half way to mirror image itself

Hi Dave, Yes I am in a away commented to this project. I think if we have a week or two of good weather, I can have the chassis done. As you can probably tell by my typing.. the whole chassis will be of steel & brass. It will be very close to R/C as I plan to make the rear ends and differentials all work along with the drive shaft. I am going to see what I can do to make the rear leafs and all functional as well.
