I've ate at two great local restaurants this week, by myself, on my lunch hour. Both require a $10 minimum to use a card, I spent nowhere near that and my cash worked just fine.

It's the same here, in the middle of the rust belt I can drive 20 miles in any direction and gas is 20 cents cheaper. We had one small chain that was always the cheapest in town until a few months ago, when the largest local chain bought them out and closed them all.

Just got home from work and the lawn service had been here, looks great and I'm free to get the Harley out.

At the stores I'm talking about 3 or 4 clerks IS the number working at peak business. As I said, if it weren't for self check out lines I'd still be in line for the stuff I bought last Friday.

Plenty of VW pervs on here (including Gregg), But I don't miss them because I still have them! Welcome.

There are 3 stores near me that have over 20 check out registers, and never have more than 3 or 4 clerks working at one time, before or after the addition of the self serve lanes. It doesn't look like anyone lost a job because it seems they wouldn't have hired enough clerks to do the needed job anyway.

That's the way I feel at a fast food joint when they hand me an empty cup. and then stand there doing nothing while I make the drink. When they charge as much as a two liter bottle cost for a single drink the least they could do is put it together.

I've heard that one! The woman had about 50 baby food jars, and when told the lane was for 12 items or less she said they were all one item, baby food!

Some more friends covering the Allman Brothers, I went to high school with the bass player and I have been known to set in with these guys.
