As I said, there is a million parts on this thing..... Hosted on Fotki This little engine looks so good when done it deserves to be displayed properly before finally installing it in the kit.... Hosted on Fotki It's gonna be kind of a dirty and grimy engine, after all it's a Rally Car... I think the washes will give it some character.... Okay guys, have to admit that the Rally type cars and sport are not one of my favorite subjects as Muscle Cars are but after seeing the box art on this kit, I just couldn't resist on finally starting it. It has been in my stash for almost 4, probably 5 years and finally I decided to do it. Of course, I am also a big Porsche fanatic, I just wanted to polish a bit more on my modelling skills before getting this one started. Hosted on Fotki As you can see, it's a gorgeous kit and what I truly and mostly like about it is the amount of delicate but beautiful parts it has, even though I spent quite a bit of time cleaning some of the mold lines and extra plastic left by the manufacturing process on some of the parts. I did find quite a number of pictures in the internet of the real thing and will use them as reference as I go through the build. I just started on this kit and I am half way with the completion of the engine. I truly wish I could add more stuff to this already beautiful and well designed engine but, at the end, it will be pretty much hidden once installed in the kit. I will just add some pictures instead of talking and boring you guys with the building process. You will see some photos of another, probably bigger scale engine that I found, it looks to be of a lot of help as potential reference material also. If you guys have any questions, please feel free to ask me anything, I will gladly answer any questions pertaining to the ongoing build.... Real car...... Pretty unique Kerc! You know, I have always said that anyone can shoot a glossy coat of paint, not the same thing can be said about weathering a model, it's an art in itself. You would really enjoy being a member of our PA. Club if you were living close to me, there is a very good bunch of talented builders in my club who are really into these type of vintage and weathered vehicles. You did a terrific job on this one of course!!!

One thing I do love is the color, there's always something about green that attracts me when used in a model. Paintjob is smooth and well done. My advice to you, now that I see you making plans to come back to the hobby is to stick with the idea, I know how well you do and it's something that's just in our blood. At some point or the other, you will always be back to it, why not now??? -
Excellent job, love it in that color!!!

Oh man, what a great thread! Who said that the Internet is messing up our hobby? This is what it's all about, not crazy about the little insults here and there but I have learned not only how to try something new but also how to spell!!! I have always been very picky about the details on my models, you know, panel lines and making sure not to cover any details with too much paint. At the same time, I have been curious to learn how to use Urethanes, specially after seeing how many great results my friend Mike Forrester (Bluzboy66) has had on his recent models. Is it something I will try in the future? Of course? Am I against it? Of course not, I have seen great results and also terrible ones but it's not up to me to judge that. One thing I have learned here is how seriously dangerous this stuff can be and hopefully, with the proper precautions, I will succeed in the use of this medium. Will I prefer it over my usual method of painting? Well, I guess we will have to wait on that but I promise to let you guys know. I just wanted to let you guys know that this is definitely a great thread, there is so much to learn from a everyone here and for that I am greatful!!!

Excellent build Kane!!! Reminds me of mine.....

Terrific work my friend, very clean. Paint looks great also. You know, I have one of these kits in my stash but to tell you the truth, I've never been too crazy about the lines on that body. I know it's a great kit, I will probably build it some day but for now it will be in the same corner it has been for the last 4 years...

Love how you work with your engines, those nitrous oxide lines around the scoop look very cool and to scale!!!
-
Great stuff Lyle, love the engine on the blue pickup!!!

Absolutely love this thing my friend, very clean and great all around details! The turbo plumbing looks amazing!!!
-
Thank you for your input guys, Christopher will be delighted that you all enjoyed it!!!

Thank you guys for taking the time to see this and for all your comments! Kevin, I always prefer using the P/E parts in my builds if available, in this case, my friend didn't want to go for the extra cost.

Exquisito!!! Don't even have to say this in English for you to understand!!!

Hey guys, decided to post this done by a very good builder and friend of mine from Puerto Rico, Christopher Alicea. It's an original AMT kit that he painted with Dupli-Color Black and topped with Urethane Clear. He also used Pegasus rims on it. I think it looks terrific, what do you guys think??? Finally got this completed. Decided to go with some Cragars and do something a bit different but kept the basic build Factory Stock and out of box. Hope you guys like it and as always, thanks for looking!!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

Best way to store waterslide decals
cruz replied to ra7c7er's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Great idea my friend. Do you guys think that wax paper would also work to replace that protective paper film that actually comes with the decals? Isn't that the same material? -
Make sure to share your work with us please, no matter how many people are doing the same model, there is always something new to learn from everyone.
