  6. Cool stuff man, best of luck!!!
  7. Jameston is surely a great guy to deal with. When I decided to order the paint for my '62 Catalina which was Bristol Blue, he e-mailed me and told me to forgive him because the order would take just one more day to ship, he was uneasy about the color he mixed and was nice enough to let me know. I told him not to worry because it was at least 2 weeks before I was ready to paint the car anyway. He went ahead and corrected the color and told me that he was going to send me a free bottle of primer for the trouble anyway. Again, I insisted that he didn't have to do that but guess what? I have a brand new bottle of his fine primer with my order. You just cannot beat service like that, so Jameston, thanks again my friend, you will be doing business for a long time....
  8. Nice powerplant bro, personally I wouldn't mess with the beautiful lines of the car but if you like the engine popping out of the hood, it's your car and call..... The stance really makes it look menacing!!!
  9. You learn something new every day, thanks for sharing this Marc, I think it will be a cool undertaking. The color? One of my favorites!!! Specially coming from Scalefinishes!!!
  10. Thanks Jim, and of course, the rest of the guys!!! I personally don't use The Detailer for panel lines because it's too thick for that, it's actually better for grills and other little things but to be honest, I stopped using it completely. I was noticing that after it dries, you can actually pull it off like you would elmer's glue after using it on plastic. If you look at the engine wash on this Dart in the first few pictures of this thread, I did that with Citadel washes, the ones used by the kids that paint the small dragon type figures for those fantasy games, I think the store is called Games Workshop? They actually sell various colors to choose from but I usually just buy the Badab Black. Hosted on Fotki What I like about these washes is that they start out pretty light so it gives you options on how dark you can go if you so desire. They are very thin and are specially good on small parts. This is the engine on my Hurst Olds which I completed several months ago, I gave the engine block 2 coats and used the washes sparingly around the rest of the parts like the alternator, air conditioning hoses, carburator, battery and other areas. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I prefer using the MIG washes for the panel lines, just one coat will do for this. I have not tried it on engines or anything like that but I have had good success with the Citadel washes so I will save the MIG bottle for just the panel lines.
  11. I'm Dr. Jeckyl here and Mr. Hyde on others....
  12. Fotki seems to be down now but if you type MIC washes under google images, you will see the picture of the stuff I use for that, well stocked hobby stores usually carry it but I am sure you will be able to find it through the web. Here is a link to a page where someone is actually teaching the use of the product, I think it's absolutely great for panel lines and it comes in various shades.... http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.scalemodelguide.com/media/images/2009/10/26/MIG_wash.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.scalemodelguide.com/guide/painting/paint-washes/&usg=__qE1ZFsU6djSwS4o8GTNyZeRg4wQ=&h=1249&w=1024&sz=137&hl=en&start=2&sig2=RONveLesqYbZ6MEjuTfn2A&zoom=1&itbs=1&tbnid=ZI1tu3cuCzZ0LM:&tbnh=150&tbnw=123&prev=/images%3Fq%3DMIG%2Bwashes%26hl%3Den%26gbv%3D2%26tbs%3Disch:1&ei=Oq0PTaiXI8KqlAfD9ZT3DQ
  13. Thanks fellas! Scalefinishes paints are already thinned when you purchase them and yes, I can tell you I love them and yes, the owner is a very good person to deal with, I would recommend his services and product to anyone anytime!!!
  14. Took some pictures outside, now you can truly see the color of this thing, a lot more different than the inside photos. I have wetsanded and polished it already and went ahead and placed the rear decal. I love the contrast of the white decal and the body color!!! I think the decal is a bit too wide when compared to the 1/1 car, also, I am not too crazy about how the side stripes look, they should be completely straight instead of in an angle, something I could not do much about since that it's the way they were designed. I am sure someone makes the correct ones out there and I will get them when I am ready to do my own Dart. In the meantime, here are the photos...... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki This is a picture of the real thing so that you guys can see the issue with the rear decal, also, this is the inspiration for the color chosen Hosted on Fotki
  15. Thanks guys! Yes, I add a blackwash to the scribed panel lines after the primer coats and then just paint the body, that takes care of the panel lines!
  16. Took advantage of some time over the last few days and decided to finish painting the body, I still have to do a bit of wetsanding and polishing once the body is dry. The interior and chassis work is completed so it's not much more I have to do to complete this, just some BMFing and decals here and there and that's it!! The inside lighting is making the car look goldish but is actually more of a light green, I will try to take some shots of it outside later on, in the meantime, this is what I have done so far.... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I decided to use Testor's Lacquer Clear for the first time, I've heard good things about it so hopefully it will work well, at the moment the body is in the dehydrator until tomorrow, I should have this polished and waxed by Sunday, God permitting of course!!!
  17. Very cool Peter, if I was to choose a person to represent our love of the hobby, no doubt it would be you!!! Congratulations!!!
  18. You guys can't build for $^%%!!!!! There, I said it!!!!
  19. Love all those small and subtle details!
  20. It does look at home there though!
  21. Stick with the micro sol, not the micro set if the decal is from Scalemotorsports.
  22. I don't mind it at all even though I will not do it to someone else, the idea of this forum is just that, to share and learn....
  23. yes, it works for that also.....
  24. This is too cool man!!!
  25. I will go with normal, not shiny...... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
