Thank you guys but this build was completed over a year ago, I will try to resurrect the original post so that you may see it again. As a matter of fact, it was featured in the Model Cars magazine recently.

I think Edward brings a valid point, it's something I myself have noticed but definitely not anything to bash people about or to think that I am superior because of my painting method. I am very picky when it comes to panel lines and hidden details under heavy coats of paint. I also think that sometimes certain models do look toyish with way too much paint or clear on them. I have been trying to learn to use urethane clears myself but one of the reasons I have been idle about it is the fact that most of my builds are Muscle cars and factory stock builds, not much shine you should put on those. With that said, I enjoy wetsanding and rubbing out my finishes, I think it is the closest thing to simulating the paintjob on real cars. I have always believed in showing all the small details on my models and that's the main reason that I always try to put the least amount of paint on the bodies as possible. I have always said that the cars with excessive shine on them should certainly be modern custom show cars, you know, like a restored '41 Willys or Hot Rod, I have seen a lot of shine on those. Still, I would be picky about the panel lines and small details.

Thank you my friend, there are a lot of guys in here with very good painting skills also and each of them have their own way of going about doing their own finishes, I personally like to use the Micro-Mesh polishing cloths. The first thing to remember is that you have to make sure you have enough clear or paint on the body before using the cloths. I like to wetsand my finishes but if you are a begginer, I would not suggest that, just try using them dry at first until you get better at it. The Micro-Mesh system starts at grit 3200 and goes up to 3600, 4000, 6000, 8000 and finally 12000. The 3200 is the workhorse and will eliminate all the orange peel from your paint but beware, this is the tricky one, it really takes off a lot of your paint. Make sure to keep away from any sharp edges. Once done with the 3200, the following ones will take care of all the scratches left by the previously used ones. After I am done with the polishing cloths, I like to use a quality chamois and Maguiar's Cleaner Wax to finish everything off. I would dab a small amount on my index finger and spread it on the paint in a circular motion, once done I use the chamois to take off the remaining wax. The reason for the chamois? It does not leave any scratch marks on the paint like flannel and cotton tend to do. The reason for the Maguiar's wax? It's a cleaner wax and will work on the scratches left by the polishing cloths. This is the way I like to do it and it's what works for me, try it and if you like it, well, you will be a happy modeler!!! I always like to suggest painting a few extra bodies or hoods for practicing purposes, this way you will not be compromising any of your more serious builds. It's kind of a tedious process but remember, you get out what you put in....

WOW!!!! What a great surprise!!! Good to hear from you again my friend. What you really needed was a nice little vacation like the one we spent in Puerto Rico back in 2005, remember? Glad to see you will be back, probably not in the full swing of things but back nonetheless!!! Please keep us posted okay!!! -
Hi there fellas, just wanted to share a bit of this build, it is another one I am doing for a club member who loves Mopars It is based on the new Revell Dart only he wants it factory stock with some Cragars. I am painting it with Scalefinishes paint color, Dodge F Light Green. I have basically finished the engine and chassis and will soon be working with the interior which will be white and lastly the body. I added a few wires and hoses to the engine to give it a bit of more life, blackwashed it for a bit of character and placed it on the chassis for now. I will update later. Thanks for looking!!!
