  1. Resin and dehydrators? they don't belong together, simple as that....
  2. Sorry guys, can't get this thing to work....

  4. I thought this was great, nice information to have, specially for the beginner!!! Just copy and paste the link on your browser if it doesn't come up...... http://www.fichtenfoo.com/images/tips/airbrushtutorial.swf
  5. Very cool Tommy, hope to make it next year!!!
  6. Daniel, as I told you in the PR forum, this is great! I have a very good friend of mine here in the forum who will be sending me one in return for another model and it will probably be the next build after finishing up my current project. Of course, after seeing wheelmans's, my decision just became a little easier!!! Great job mi hermano!!!
  7. Thanks Jay, I am very picky about panel lines and spend quite some time working on them, glad you noticed! Here are some interior shots, you can see a lot of the WIP at the Workbench area of the forum.... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki A lot of the emblems and details are metal transfer decals that came in the kit. It is a pretty basic kit but one that says a lot when completed. Thanks again to you and to all for your input!!!
  8. I like to use Future floor wax to glue my P/E parts in place, it's clear, transparent and very thin.....
  9. Thank you guys, your comments, good or bad are always certainly appreciated!!! For my panel lines, I like to scribe them pretty deep, it's always the first thing I do when I take the body out of the box. After scribing, right on the bare plastic, I dip some Testor's Metallizer paint right into them, the Mettalizer's consistency is very watery so capillary action really helps out a lot in this phase. When I am done with the priming, I will repeat this step again and then sand the body to get it ready for painting. Not much I have to do after that, it has always worked for me. For the valve stems, I just used a piece of wire, nothing fancy. I drilled a very small hole and inserted the wire right into it with a dab of crazy glue. For the wipers, I used Acu-Stions photo-etch detail set. This set includes the wipers and other little details I chose to use. On the wipers, there is a mall bend that has to be performed, it takes away the "flat" look that the photo-etch part usually has. I did add a small piece of plastic to pin it against the body, it's the only way to glue them without making a mess and it helps for a strong bond. Hosted on Fotki I did not use any Alclad on this build except for the brake discs which are not noticeable because of the considerably closed design of the wheel, every chrome part you see comes in the kit. I did noticed that the BMF is a little wrinkly, that is my fault for not being patient while waiting for a new sheet to arrive at the hobby store. We live and learn Anyway, I am happy with the build and I want to thank Mr. Kustov for his inspiration, it's nowhere close to his build of this kit but I tried my best I also want to thank my good friend Randy Kern again for giving me this kit and again, I owe you my friend!!!
  10. Finally got this thing done!!! Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  11. Believe me my friend, embarrasment will be the last thing in people's minds here when you get ready to attempt and work with your scratch building abilities, you can only get better when you try stuff like that. Good luck on your project and if I can be of any assistance, well, that's why we have our Private Messaging feature in this wonderful forum!!!
  12. When Gregg snapped the photo, he wanted the viewer to concentrate on the fact that you don't see too many Vegas with this sort of application, I am still happy that he published it and I thank him for that!! Anyway, here are some photos of the kit... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  13. Mike, that engine is just too sweet man!!! I used a Rotary engine myself and placed it in a Vega about 2 years or so ago. I used the engine from an old Monogram RX7 kit but mine was not a turbo, it was more of a traditional, carburated engine from that era. 14. Crazy cool!!!
  15. Very cool man!!!
  16. You can't be from this planet my friend, your work is always out of this world......
  17. I envy all that beautiful aluminum work you have there, Bob can certainly turn them out sweet.....
  18. BMF work completed...... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  19. Okay my fellow glue sniffers!!! I have been away for a little while, life kinda gets in the way and you have to deal with it. Anyways, all I did was work with the small side scoops next to the windows and have completed the BMF work on the body. Thank God there was not much BMF... I had to remove the chrome from the scoops and paint them body color, after checking my references on the real car I never saw one with this part in chrome. I added a bit of black paint to the small vents and installed them. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki I have also completed the engine and the chassis, not much detail on the engine since it will be hard to see it once the body is married to the chassis. I also Alcladed the disk brakes but these will also be hard to see once I place the tires and rims onto them. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  20. Very cool, wish I had one of these kits, I love Volkwagens.. ...
  21. Thanks Lyle and congratulations on your big win!!!! Now, go ahead and post a picture of that winner!!!!
  22. Very cool and inspiring, I don't believe in luck but in God's promise that you will get through this, my prayers for you and the family!!
  23. I can't imagine working around this hobby without an airbrush, once you learn and see how simple it is to use you will wonder why you didn't use it in the first place. Yes, invest on a spraybooth, yes, invest on a compressor with a tank and definitely start using your airbrush.
  24. I built this one about three years ago, rims are resin from originals in another kit. Paint is Testor's Lacquer Nassau Blue Metallic w/ Tamiya clear, it is a curbside model. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki
  25. Brother, you never cease to amaze me, I love this thing!!!
