I have started on the interior today. I purchased 2 racing harness photo-etch detail sets a long time ago and decided to use them in this interior. I had a choice of white or red and decided on the red to give this interior some contrast. The material for the actual belt is masking tape, this means that you can purchase the tape in white and have options on any color you desire. The tape has to be measured to fit the buckles and cut into pieces to be able to use it. I did this with a metal ruler an my X-Acto knife with a brand new blade of course. It's a bit of a tedious process and of course I still have to do the one for the other side but, like I always say, you get out what you put in. Again, instead of boring you guys, I will let my photos tell the story..... Thanks Rick. No, I do not seal the metallizer, either for this purpose or ever, I have never had the need to do so. I've never had any issues with leaving the metallizers unsealed. One thing I do suggest is to test fit all your parts well before finishing an engine, you really don't want to have any fit issues while having the metallizer paint on the part, it does come off a little while handling. On the other hand, I have also found out that you can seal it with a light coat of future if you are going to handle the part for any extended amount of time if need be. This means that you can still blackwash the part after sealing it with future at a later time.

I built a '67 Vette about 6 years ago and got some wire from Michael's Craft store to duplicate the ones I used on mine. You have to look closely around their bead and jewelry section, I am sure you will find something useful... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki

I have been doing a bit more work on the Porsche chassis. Took off some excess plastic to make sure that the tires didn't look incorrect in the back, this is a step that has to be corrected so they don't stick out at the end. I will let the pictures do the talking... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki The rim at the top is the spare that will be installed in the trunk at the end. It was Alcladed with Aluminum, I just had to make sure that it looks similar to the ones in the kit.... Hosted on Fotki

I like to use the back of a #11 X-Acto knife also and like Steve says, I make sure that the tip is slightly broken off, for some reason it works better this way. I like scribing my lines pretty deep and using Testor's Metallizer paints. Since these paints consistency is very watery, capillary action helps a lot when using this method. I will do this on the bare plastic first and also after my primer coats, after this, everything pretty much falls into place. Here is an ongoing project of mine, the kit plastic is yellow, this is not the actual color. Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki These are the results after painting and completion.... Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki Hosted on Fotki What I like about this method is that you can notice how deep the panel lines actually are, in my humble opinion, it looks as if you can actually open the doors or trunks on the model. You can still fill the lines at the end if need be even after going through the original process.

In my humble opinion, nothing works better than Model Master enamels for the Alclad base, I've never had any issues with it, works every time!

This is great, I have to practice and get going on my weathering techniques, there's much to learn from builds like this! Thanks for sharing!

I don't think there's a better color for that car, you did a terrific job and now I want to build one......

Terrific work, I also like the fact that the engine was kept inside the hood.

Awesome work my friend!!!!!

My advice to you? Just take your time and pace yourself, you are well in your way to become a very good modeller since you are aware of your flaws. I suggest that you attend a few model shows and if possible, become a member of a club, you will not only keep yourself motivated but you will also learn from other more experienced modelers. By the way, terrific work!
