  1. I agree. I'll work on that when I get back on my computer (on my phone now)
  2. Almost too obvious! Thanks for the reminder - probably the nicest wagon kit made.
  3. Listed the Monaco as a "70s" - ya, let's not go there. It is a four door though. Missing link's 68 ltd? Didn't see it on their website...?
  4. Isn't that the Police Interceptor kit I listed? Also, more interested in four door versions - not two door. Thanks though.
  5. Johan 1961 Buick wagon? - fixed in the OP There was a 61 Olds wagon.
  6. I went and looked at my box to see what was blacked out.
  7. Nice work. The model probably runs as well as the real thing.
  8. I have been compiling a mental list of four door car and wagon kits - mainly from 1960 to 1979 or 80. I would love to get it in print. If this topic has been tackled before and you have a link, let me know. Otherwise, please help with any kits (resin or plastic) and pictures (if you have them). Kits in my limited mental knowledge bank: 1960 to 1980 AMT 1961 to 1969 Lincoln Continentals AMT 1965 Chevelle wagon Revell 1966 Chevelle wagon AMT 1970 Ford Galaxie (Police Interceptor) AMT 1970 Ford LTD Johan (1968?) 9. It not only looks cool, but is so practical. The extra set of bullets on the back would be really easy to grab in a high speed chase.
  10. 1972 Chrysler Imperial
  11. That doesn't work - neither the sandable primer or primer sealer will block underlying plastic. Sorry if I pulled only part of the quote and makes it look like you only mentioned duplicolor!
  12. I will like seeing the work covering that red plastic. I have one of the old red ones too.
  13. I have to admit, I think you are right. I was born in 1971. I road in cars through the 70s and 80s. My first car was a 1981 Caprice Classic. Then a 78 Toyota. And so on. I have decent memories of these cars but I have zero desire to build them or the cars I saw and grew up with.
  14. Thread is a few weeks old, I see, but... Alclad chrome requires an enamel base (I believe it's an enamel) - they make their own gloss black base. The chrome paint will not "bite" into Tamiya gloss black - I have tried. It will look good until light handling - then the chrome will rub off.
  15. Is is etching the plastic (showing mold lines, joints, etc. after you fix/remove them)? Or are the defects just evident after you prime? I have not had issues with DC etching - some posts indicate it will etch some plastics. Are you using sandable primer? Their primer sealer is hotter and will etch plastic. You can block affected areas with Future to keep hot paints from etching. If you need another primer, try PlastiKote - find a retailer near you here, as it is not as widely distributed as Duplicolor.
  16. I would have to agree. The model companies are not a bunch of people sitting around in closed off rooms and dreaming up model kits to make*. They invest huge amounts of money into research, making molds, molding, marketing, etc. and they decide based on what the market tells them they will profit on. They do market research. They listen to builders - ALL of them - then decide which will bring back the most money for the investment. There are tons of cars I would love to see - and just as many "what would you want" posts - but I completely understand they are to mundane or obscure to ever be made into a large market styrene kit. *The exception would be Model Factory Hiro. I watched a video about Hiro and the interviewer asked him how he decided what cars to make. Hiro basically said "I make a car I like". Of course MFH kits are quite expensive. I am 40 (close enough) and find interest in cars from all eras. I built through the 90s when the kit makers seemed unstoppable. Now I see a shift from massive quantities of kits (how many kits was MPC pumping out through the 80s?) to higher quality, lower volume kits - and multiple purchases by a smaller market.
  17. Yes. a lot of the same kits - but also a lot of kits that would not have a chance in today's market (and maybe weren't such a good investment in the mid-nineties either) such as the Ford Explorer and Tauras, Chevy S-10s, etc. I would say I see a definite rise in modeling. A little over two years ago when I get back into models, one of the shops I purchased from had gone out of business and the other had only a handful of car kits. Now, they have enlarged and greatly expanded their car section - and I don't think I am the only one buying. I hope we continue to see more kits and that the makers are financially successful going forward.
  18. Rat ROASTER - as in roast. Not roadster.
  19. This is a great opportunity - lots of great parts and a cool car built as is. This looks like it could be a win-win-win for Revell, OOB builders and kit bashers. Let's keep our fingers crossed for another quality kit!
  20. A closer look at the 62 vette, 50 Olds, and 57 Ford - those all look like great kits - separate frames, extra parts (two front ends in the vette kit?) - looking forward to any/all. I have to say, regardless of subject, I really enjoy building new tool kits.
  21. One of the hobby shops near me still has AM kits on the shelf - 29 bucks - so not sure a Revell reissue is needed. I do like the kit though. 50 olds? Where'd that come from? That will be nice addition. The 57 looks promising as well.
  22. Yes. They have some Skyline kits and Fairlady (Z) kits with engines. They are not real good kits though as the hoods are molded shut and there is no under hood detail other than the engine - not to mention some accuracy issues.
  23. I actually like this Full size toy.
