  1. Alclad is addicting. Great product with great results - and easy. CA glues have come a long way since the 60s too. I use them a lot. Tamiya primers - now available at Hobby Lobby - are excellent products. Micro Mesh sanding products for polishing paint jobs.
  2. More pixels won't help. The lens is the most important piece of the puzzle. Depth of field is the most troubling part for me - stepping down far enough to get all the parts crisp but those small apertures aren't always the sharpest setting. I would experiment with you lens - different focal lengths, distances to subject, apertures, etc - take notes, and find the "sweet" spot for your particular set up.
  3. You know why Fred Flintstone only has three toes? He wore the other two off starting the car! That's a cool model. Nice paint work.
  4. Alclad II paints for metal finishes.
  5. That turned out great. Nice chop, paint, and details.

  7. I believe they will be next year - every year there is no GSL...
  8. Great looking little model. I really like those ARII 1/32 kits - well, most of them. They are great subjects and can be finished up nice with a little work. Great job. I like the color choice.
  9. You can get very good - if not excellent - results with rattle cans. Surface prep is paramount to a good finish. Fish eyes are generally caused by contaminant on the surface which causes the paint to "avoid" the area. I am not a big fan if the Testors paints - try Tamiya or Duplicolor paints.
  10. You can also design it yourself and have it printed out... A custom, one-off job from a resin caster or model maker will be quite expensive. If you have 3D computer skills, or willing to learn, the print your route will be the ticket.
  11. Porsche should give the whole idea of the Cayenne a funeral.
  12. Nice work. Great looking model. I like those over-the-top 70's designs.
  13. Great looking model! Very nice paint job. One small suggestion - sand the copyright off the gas tank. Minor, but... Overall very clean.
  14. Actually, just painting masking tape give a better, more scale appearance than medical tape. The medical tape would work for 1/12 and larger scales, but just doesn't look that good in 1/25. I have never looked at the liner on a model, though, so I might have missed some...
  15. I use Klean Strip - it's available at most hardware and one-stop shopping stores. It's about $7 for a quart.
  16. The same reason they make you use special tools - or ANY tools, really - to access the AIR CLEANER!! Why do you need four star screws, located in realtively inaccessible areas, to hold the plastic cover on the air cleaner? So you don't check it, so the Auto Tech can charge to look at it.
  17. It's weird how hard it is to look at a car upside down.
  18. Yes. I agree. Going through seven hundred NASCAR decals to find a model...ugh.
  19. If idiots payed less, they would still be idiots. This guy pops up on "oh my eBay" posts a lot. He could sell the parts for less, but why? If somebody walked up to you and offered $75 for your Revell 1990 Mustang LX, would you say "no, it's only worth $20"? I would sell it for $75.
  20. Man, those do look nice. I might have to start building trucks.
  21. My iPhone tried to backup for about 5 hours yesterday with no success - so, no 7 for me yet. I did order a new 5S!
  22. Seems quirky to me as well. It's not like HTUSA advertises a lot or, obviously, has enough pull with wholesales to get a price break (based on MSRP selling points), to make the franchise thing worthwhile. I also wouldn't say the models are a "courtesy". Yes, they may make more money on RC products, but a retail store will never fill valuable shelf space with products that either don't sell or don't generate profit. There is no room for goodwill in a for profit enterprise, really. The HT in Spokane has a very good paint selection - the only place in a metro area of 600,000 people that sells Tamiya paints - decent tools, and okay model selection. They are constantly busy with role and card playing tourneys as well as Kendama displays/shows/or whatever you call it. In fact, it's usually so busy with annoying card type games it's hard to hear yourself think, or talk to yourself.
  23. Cool...and nice paint. Is that legal, though?
  24. Rarely. I have found some decently priced items, but most are at MSRP.
