Scott.... I cant believe you have a Mean Maverick funny car.......been after that one for over 20 years....just awesome! I never minded having to go with an old builder...I look at it as a challenge to bring them back to life...if for nothing else to save some model /promo history.
Welcome James...! Nice thing about building/restoring models is we get to live our dreams in a sense. I hope you find the 66 resin for your project and dreams...we all have them...
With me restoring the oldies of my dads its a matter of which one I have enough parts to....other than those its what ever I have been wanting to build or waiting for years for it to come back out so I could get one...LOL..
I have a huge batch that I need to restore...needed parts are always a issue...Modelhaus just does not make them all. Id rather use old parts but they are very hard to find and sometimes afford. I like bringing them back to life and saving them...just those old parts need to be found to do so and it can be a very rough time trying to find them or someone that is willing to part with them. Yeah I have had some that must have had 3 tubes of glue used on them before too actually had to cut the glass out of a few before.
I have been wanting to do this too but always got sidelined with other things. I thought of using a Pete Pacemaker cab for the base cab body then add a Ford Louisville grille.
Then I need to find one or parts from one...I have the original issued factory stock one from my dads old collection and it needs parts. I thought they might be compatible being they are both AMT molds.
Nice build...! I wonder if some of the parts from one of these would work on a original AMT 63 Tempest factory stock model...?...hood,bumpers,taillights,glass,etc....?
Thanks Gino......I appreciate the comments very much it was my first attempt at one like this and was a fun build. Normally a badly warped kit/model just becomes extra parts..I figured this way it would not go to waste and be something...LOL..
Thanks guys......to me all my dads oldies are gems even though they need a lot but there too cool not to repair the ones that need it. Hard part is finding the parts for them on my budget which isn't much...maybe someday.
Welcome Josh...! Yep grab all of it you can find one never knows. I have my dads old stuff too most need work, etc. but i plan to get them restored someday he had some cool old stuff too...glad you got them.
