Welp, That Sucks
disabled modeler replied to Quick GMC's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
if its a possibility someone is hurt I will stop to see if I can offer any help but I have passed people walking, etc. before...feel bad about doing it but one never knows these days. I have some medical experience plus my wife is a nurse...but I never take my eyes off them just in case. All countries have good and bad people...its just something we all have to deal with. -
MPC Mack Cement Mixer Kit
disabled modeler replied to JPolli's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Id love to see that kit make a comeback....built it as a kid would love another chance at one...and others. -
Very nice work...! Look realistic to me I have seen a few tangle with trains before and loose...its not always easy to make plastic look like bent and torn metal.

Dan...the old fire truck is from the 70s for sure and a pretty cool kit but will take you awhile to build it has a ton of parts good opportunities to add detail.

Polish or not?
disabled modeler replied to Sidney Schwartz's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
How about starting off with a normal car wax...its the weakest of any polish...might just do the trick without much risk? -
Dave.... That is NICE...

Sorry to hear about your dog Joe...its never easy to loose them...real pet people there just like our kids and a member of the family to us not just a pet.
-
YES we do Charlie....besides it would be a great boost in the sales instead of the same old re-issues that have been done time and time again.

Welcome Harry... ...been building anything I can get my hands on for over 40 years here but auto related ones are my favorites. I also restore promos. I still paint my trim never had any luck with the foil myself...maybe someday Ill try it again? You being a aircraft builder you possess a skill I need to learn more about...weathering.

Potvin Blower - Why?
disabled modeler replied to chunkypeanutbutter's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
Blowers/Superchargers make power from compressing air or air and fuel into the cylinders which gives it a larger fuel/air charge to fire on and actually to a point pushes the pistons where a normally aspirated engine has to draw the fuel/air into it which is drag. In other words the blower is kind of a compressor to a point but the boost or pressure is much less in most cases...a healthy stock engine can handle around 7 pounds of boost if its compression of the engine is not too high to start with. 7 pounds of boost may not sound like a lot but it adds loads of horsepower. I wish I could find one that is like a Paxton for our truck that mounts like a alternator. -
Welcome Scott... ...Me I am a big fan of the 60s to mid 70s cars, etc. too.
