Curious on what I have here
disabled modeler replied to fun9c1's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I am lucky enough to have some of my dads oldies...though mine need restored and parts Id never give them up if I could keep from it...there worth much more for their sentimental value to me. Id rather have them than all the new kits out there even though my task of trying to locate needed parts so I can restore them the work will be worth it to me. Ill have them and pass them down to someone that will appreciate them for what they are and mean to me when my time is up. -

That is the spirit Carl.... Like they and i have said you will find a way around the new problems buddy...you have seen my 69 Plymouth wagon build in my photobucket here...done that one with very little feeling in my hands and fingers just took me longer--a month alone on the body work. With my spine injuries and nerve damage I have learned new ways to get passed them...you will too...just try and practice on some un-important items to see what works for you. -

I am sorry to hear that Carl buddy... I have many challenges building about 1/2 the time myself...its one of the reasons I never foil any of my builds I just simply paint in the trim seems to be easier for me to do. Ill never give up building...I cant...you shouldn't ether you have talent and can find a way around most handicaps building...me when its a bad day I do very little or none till I have a better day. As you know I have very little feeling in my hands most of the time but I figured out how to get around it for the most part...patience is the key and the build only has to make you happy...were always happy to see them and learn from them buddy. Like you my condition will never get any better only worse but you will find another route to build them..If I can anyone can. -
I have to agree...I like it and converting the fastback into a 4door roof line is not easy...cool.

Many years ago I use to drive a tow truck....seen many cars that sun out went backwards and hit things. One I got called to was a drunk driver high rate of speed hit a series of power poles and trees....I had to get within 5 foot to be able to tell what kind of car it was found a emblem from it on the ground. At one time the car was standing up on its rear bumper when it hit a tree...driver was ejected and survived..if he did not I am sure he would have died. The car actually broke in 1/2 when I hooked up the cable to pull it back to the road.

John that is great news!... Nothing like getting paid to do what you love and to work for a easy going atmosphere place too. -

At least it did not take the tow truck with it. -
I LIKE IT...!!!

LOL... Yep Bill that is the one...LOL... I have always loved the shape of these cars even before my dad owned one. Me I hate to open an old factory sealed kit just to find out what is in the box as far as building versions of it. I have the last reissue of the Cyclone stock car to use but also have my dads old factory stock build up...it needs a few parts to be complete enough to restore it...many not available in the stock car kits. My plan is to find the right parts needed and restore it as his was like...hopefully.

1961 Ranchero
disabled modeler replied to crazyjim's topic in Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Looks nice to me Jim...always liked these odd little trucks/cars. Strange as it seems my brother owns a 83 Dodge Rampage its restored but was in excellent one owner condition anyway...the title states it as a truck so it has to have truck plates on it while a ElCamino or Rancharo twice the size can have car plates here..so can a window van or Suburban...if my truck had a flat bed I could haul the Rampage on the back. -
That is true John.... I have nerve damage and it is the root of my pain problem they tell me...makes sense that meds don't help me much. Though I have 24/7 pain they can do nothing for really I am lucky to be here in the first place...by all accounts I shouldn't.

Id be happy with ether choices (but it should only show what the kit will come with)...white wall tires, decal stripes, optional building versions,etc...kind of a bummer when you buy a kit and the content does not match what is shown on the box...I have bought kits before just for what they came with or what was included before...if it does not come with it it shouldn't show it with or on the car/truck..to me its kind of like false advertising of sorts. I do like the retro box arts.

LOL... No it would not...LOL...

I once owned a mid 70s Dodge factory custom van...loved it had beautiful hand air brushed murals on both sides and a beautiful interior too. I have a old rough parts van model wanting to build it someday like mine was or close someday...the old build up is missing a few parts keeping me from it for now. I can appreciate the beautiful paint jobs done on many of the low riders though...simply stunning to look at.

---> MPC's 1971 Road Runner
disabled modeler replied to 1972coronet's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I have always liked the MPC version...had the Monogram one and just did not like it as much myself. -
Dave...LOL... I am getting old too but never got those things ether myself. I can appreciate anyone doing something to their car/truck on their own though...been to too many car shows where someone entered a new car they just bought and did nothing with. Me Id rather put the huge costs of those wheels into the engine or cleaning up the body and or painting the car/truck to cherry it out make it beautiful...beauty is in the eye of the beholder though.

Joe..they made some rare hardly heard of versions that could be special ordered...I had a 75 Pace car TA once...would love to build a replica of it someday.
