Hi cargostar, thanks for the info! the kit would have been made back in the early 80s, he was sure about it being 1/25th or 1/24th scale with the box art that would match the early ertl blue print era. maybe it was like a one off box art sample that didnt go any further ? if they didnt produce it they should.........be a really nice addition to truck or IH guys dont you think? i also was wondering if anyone has seen the new lindburg fuel tanker trailer? if so whats it like on the inside.....i had the trailer when i was a kid and it wasnt bad back then? nice to see something a little different show-up. thanks a lot for the info.........mark -
hi guys, im having a problem trying to strip old paint from an old build-up, i usually soak everything needing striped in castrol super clean with no problems, however this ones not working....the paint started to lift but thats as far as it seems it wants to go,still firmly attached. any ideas that wont hurt it? the model has been soaking for about 1 month now and for some reason it just doesnt want to budge? stumped...........thanks mark

Hi Chuck, tell me about it....ive been trying to find a model of a IH Travelall for years,my brother was in Iowa somewhere and seen a model box on the wall behind a counter of a traveall. knowing how bad i wanted one he didnt bother to ask about it for me.........dont know if it was in the box or not, cant help but think it was most likely an opportunity lost......hes been into models for years as i have and am fairly certain that he would know what he was looking at.however i wasnt there..........maybe a rare ertl blue print kit by his description would be my guess? if anyone ever finds one or a photo of the kit please let me know...........mark -
2 new ones
disabled modeler replied to buck smallwood's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hi Buck, im thinking early 80s but not for sure, did you look for a production date on the instructions or box? thats my guess on the wrecker kit. the wrecker kit was a pretty good kit to build, ive had a few over the years. the pete semi it sets on is the same one they have used for years by itself as a semi kit....if its complete you will probably find it includes a sleeper with it. tell wife she done good by you for me?...........mark -
Hey guys, amt did make a 62 impala ht....i think it was also able to be built as an altered or stock wheel base, the ht could be used or as convertible. i have the ht part, plan to use it on a 62 impala convertible kit to build the ht. i had the rest but it really was toast that no amount of butter in the world could help, but the top was fine.......i know it was from a very old kit because it came from my dads old stuff.......so i guess you might be able to add one more to chose from?.................mark

steam or diesel power shovel
disabled modeler replied to disabled modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
hi george53, thanks for the info....id be happy to try to kit bash parts together to try to build one like i wish to build. id like it to be a 1900s to 50s style w/car type grapple or claw. like what one would see in an old salvage yard. think it would make a really cool load for a 1960s rig to pull. mark -

hi Carl, thanks for the info....we will have to check it out. i was thinking of one from the 50s or 60s era with a spider style claw head on it.even a 40s era one would look old enough for me,so it sounds like a good place to get some ideas.............thanks.mark -

steam or diesel power shovel
disabled modeler replied to disabled modeler's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
thats sweet, i seen an old scale auto mag where i guy had built a really cool old steam powered on and was thinking be cool load for a lowboy trailer, or a salvage lot diorama. article said tit was a toyish hard plastic, very simplified kit of some sort maybe a promo type deal...p & e i think is what they called it. i wonder where they got it ever since i seen the photos. would be a really cool salvage lot claw if one could find one. seeing it made me think of doing a diorama of a salvage lot with old cars ect. laying around with a few loaded on a 60s or 70s era semi with flat bed trailer. if anyone knows which one thy used and if its 1/25th or 1/24th scale and where i might be able to get my hands on one let me know..............thanks...........mark
