  1. This is my Mannix '72 'Cuda Convertible built with the AMT/ERTL Snapfast Plymouth 'Cuda. I painted the body with Duplicolor Forest Green Pearl with a Semi-Gloss Black interior. The hood and bumpers are from the Revell '70 Hemi 'Cuda and the wheels and rear view mirrors are from my parts box. And for your viewing pleasure, the Mannix theme song... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hM3vxbesg1A
  2. I was approached via PM that there are errors on certain parts in this kit. The person involved had to be told that this kit is being built the way I want it and that I didn't care if that person thought that there are errors in the kit. If that person thinks there are errors in the kit, they should take the issue to the kit manufacturer, not me. I am building this kit my way and on my time schedule. Obviously, this person has no respect for me and his agenda was to get me to build the kit his way. I will not reveal this person's identity unless an Admin asks for it and only then will it be done via PM. I want to be clear on this...this kit will be built my way and on my time schedule. Nobody elses. I do welcome any and all comments made on my builds. Thank you.
  3. Thanks Seth. If you do get this kit, just be aware of the hard plastic. I painted the body and hood again and I also painted the other body parts that I had forgotten. More Mopar to come...
  4. Thank you Oscar! I appreciate your kind words.
  5. John, I just searched my kit and looked through the instructions again and there are no headers in this particular kit. You might be thinking about the Melrose Missle Super Stock kit put out by Moebius/Model King. This particular kit has the unique "upswept" exhaust manifolds instead and the exhaust system has cutouts for racing. I believe I do have some CA in the shop here, but not exactly sure where it is, but that is something I usually leave for resin. I have started washing and scraping my parts with the hope of better adhesion and will pay closer attention to that as I proceed with this build. Now that I have retired, I will have more time for my model projects. I have worked too hard for far too long and now I am paying the price for my labor with joint damage and pain. My fatigue and pain has lead me to taking some shortcuts and just plain putting off some things I need to do. Hopefully the future will be better for me.
  6. Yesterday, I sanded the edges of the hood to remove some of the excess paint that had built up and repainted the hood with another coat of paint. I noticed some trash and a few dog hairs in the paint and threw the hood into a container with 91% alcohol. Several hours later, I removed the hood and scrubbed it with Dawn detergent and a scrub brush. In the process, the hood scoop came off which I had expected it to. I sanded the hood to removed any leftover paint and reattached the scoop. I'll repaint the hood later. I checked the body and found a small paint run on the passenger door. I'll sand this spot a bit and add another coat of Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red to the body. More Mopar to come...
  7. This morning, I got to spray the Belvedere with Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red. I got a little heavy-handed with the paint on the hood. I'll let this dry more before I decide on how to proceed. More Mopar to come...
  8. Niko, the plastic does seem to have changed. Like I said earlier, it's very hard. Not brittle, just hard. I tried using Tamiya Extra Thin Cement and that seems to be helping a bit. Let's see what happens. I haven't done anything on this build in almost a month. The day off today gave me that opportunity to get the body and hood into a coat of primer after more sanding and cleaning. Maybe if all goes well, I can get a coat of Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red on the Belvedere this weekend. More Mopar to come...
  9. Well, I glued the hood scoop to the hood and it fell off an hour later. This hard plastic is becoming to be a problem for me. Has anyone else had this problem with this plastic? I was told at my Club meeting that this is the same type of plastic Moebius uses in their figure kits and I forgot to ask if there was an adhesive that work better with this plastic. I have never built a Moebius figure kit so I don't know. Anyone have any suggestions?
  10. I thought I might try to shake up this Community Build a little bit with my 2013 Mustang Boss 302. I know it is outside the 2005-2010 parameters, but it is part of that FOMOCO build structure that is the 2005-2010 Mustang. I got a second place in class at the last MASSCAR show in 2014.
  11. The Max Wedge got painted this morning with Mopar Street Hemi Orange Engine Paint. The body has been cleaned up of mold lines and then washed in preparation for primer and paint. More Mopar to come...
  12. Sorry Bruce, but no. It is a 426 Max Wedge.
  13. Last night before turning in, I assembled the engine. There something about this plastic that bothers me. It's very hard, not brittle...just hard. It took my Model Master Liquid Cement a while to cure and solidify. I clamped the engine together in several directions and checked on it this morning before going to work. This afternoon, I painted the wheels with Humbrol Metallic Grey. More Mopar to come...
  14. Thanks guys! james460, I had considered making a bench seat for this Belvedere. AFAIK, no one makes one and that did not stop me from building one for my '67 Hemi Belvedere a few years ago. I found a resin bench seat online and replaced it with that. Mark, the box art is not very inspiring as you said, but something about it enticed me to buy this and I got a good deal on it. John Shoe, long time! How've you been? I've couldn't think of any other color i wanted to use on this car, but a metallic red. I hope I won't be disappointed.
  15. Its been a while since I have done a WIP on this forum, so here goes...I bought this kit a couple of weeks ago at my Club's show and when I opened the box at home, I was really surprised by what I found in the kit. This kit is packed! I found a nicely molded body will no flash and hardly any mold lines. The kit also contained 4 regular radial tires and 2 wide radial tires, unfortunately with no side markings, 6 steel wheels with 4 hubcaps and 6 American Torq Thrust wheels. Two versions of the 426 Wedge engine can be built...the standard Wedge or the 426 Max Wedge. The exhaust system has cutouts molded into the pipes. I have another project I wanted to build, but thinking about this kit so much has forced that project behind this one instead. I started thinking about what colors and which wheels I wanted to use, so off to Google Images I went looking for inspiration and ideas. I usually like to have an image of something close to what I'm building on my computer desktop and I found this... This Belvedere was photographed for Mopar Muscle Magazine and it's gorgeous and now it's my inspiration for my new WIP. I'll paint this with Tamiya TS-18 Metallic Red with a Model Master Insignia Red interior. The hood scoop is from the Revell '67 Dodge Charger and I'll use the wide rear tires with the Torq Thrust wheels and build the 426 Max Wedge engine. I haven't been this enthused about a project in a very long time!!! More Mopar to come...
  16. Thank you guys! This '66 Fairlane came out better than I had hoped for, even if I did compromise on a couple of details that I didn't have time for.
  17. Thank you guys! This came out better than I had hoped for. As i was building this, I keep finding little details that I could add along the way. Truly a nice kit!
  18. This was my project for the Classic Plastic Model Club Challenge for our show Oct. 2, 2016. It is painted with Tamiya TS-92 Metallic Orange with a Tamiya TS-29 Semi Gloss Black and Metallic Orange interior. Lowered suspension, scripts removed, scratch made tachometer, wheels and tires from the Revell '72 Olds Cutlass Convertible.
  19. Thanks guys! I couldn't find the correct color ignition wire here in the shop, the correct wheels (nobody makes them), nor did I replicate the bracing under the dash. Overall, the end result is just how it looked in the episode. While the chassis can be a bit spindly to build and the headers might not line up perfectly, this is a neat kit to build as this has been my third Revellogram Cobra built in the last few years.
  20. Thank you everyone!
  21. This is my version of the "Cobra In A Barn" that was found by Wayne Carini of TV's Chasing Classic Cars. I have even replicated the broken drivers side vent wing and the rusted knockoffs of the original car.
  22. Thank you Ron and Dan!
  23. Thank you guys! peekay, yes I did clear coat the wood using the same gloss clear that I used on the rest of the model. I used Testors Wet Look Clear.
  24. Super nice build Jim! Reminds me of my '64 Dodge and '64 Plymouth builds. Great job!!!
  25. This is my Revell '49 Merc Woody painted with Testors Mythical Maroon and Model Master Wood on the body with Model Master Dark Tan for the interior. The front suspension has been lowered. I used chrome bumperettes for the visor supports, changed the wheels to chrome reverse wheels from the Monogram '69 Charger Daytona, changed the rear taillights, and added a license plate frame.
