Thanks Mike and Jim. I have finished my '62 Impala 409 and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have taken the time to view and to comment on my WIP.

This is my '62 Impala 409 painted with Dupli-Color Light Blue Metallic. I raised the rear suspension, added aluminium tubing exhaust tips, wired the engine, blued the exhaust headers, and added a tach on the steering column.

I got into a discussion with a fellow about Ford Mustangs one evening and he finally said, "Someone ought to build a modern Spenser Mustang." He was referring to the Spenser For Hire TV series that he knew that I am a fan of. I took that as a challenge and sought out a Revell 2015 Ford Mustang GT kit. My grandson had built one two years ago and has long since stopped playing with it, so I took it apart, cleaned it, primered it with Tamiya Fine Surface Primer and painted it with Model Master Fathom Green Metallic body and Testors One Coat Lacquer Wet Look Clear. and Tamiya TS-29 Semi-Gloss Black interior. I lowered the suspension, added rear view side mirrors, painted the wheels with Alclad II Chrome paint over the flat black wheels, aluminium tubing for exhaust tips, and added license plates used on the '65 Ford Mustang in the TV series printed by me on my printer.

I spent some time this evening working on the '62 Impala 409. I finished the chassis by adding the hubcaps, radiator, core support, and hoses. I polished the body and hood with Mequiar's Scratch X 2.0 and Novus #2 polish. I painted the air filter element and the trim on the front and rear bumpers. More to come...

The Story McNally gets a call from Lt. Det. Troy summoning him home. When he arrives at home, he is told about Tracy and he takes it very hard and heads back out to the streets looking for answers. He stops to see his informant Zachy who says he'll keep his ears open for any information that he can pass on to McNally. Around midnight McNally stops at a drive-thru for a coffee and a couple of donuts then drives over to a closed mall parking lot to think. A police cruiser pulls up to him and he recognizes the officer driving. They chat briefly and after the cruiser drives away, McNally remembers when he met the cop and the case that they were investigating. A small-time hood that he had testified against and sent to prison may have put a hit out on the Boston PI for sending him up. At least it's a direction to go in... The Build The chassis is finished. I've started on the interior. McNally will return...

Thanks David and Curtis! Curtis, I do plan on adding some exterior mirrors if I can find some in my parts box. I haven't gotten around to doing that just yet. It looks like someone without any ears! lol

The Story After a day of renewing old contacts and many business meetings, Tracy decides to stop at McNally's house on her way home. She pulls up to the curb in front of his house in her Chevy Impala rental car and stops the engine. She reaches over to grab her purse from the passenger seat and her cellphone from the console as a dark colored sedan pulls along side and machine gun fire erupts from the sedan blowing out all the windows of the rental. When the gun fire stops, the dark colored sedan quickly pulls away down the road and the neighbors look out their windows to see what the noise was all about. One neighbor comes out of his house and walks over to the rental and sees Tracy's lifeless body. He pulls his cellphone from his pocket and calls the Police. The Build I wet sanded the Challenger today and burned through the paint in a few spots. I'll either touchup the spots or add another coat of paint to the body. The chassis and the interior are in progress. I painted the rest of the components for the Challenger. McNally will return...

I got Spenser's 2015 Mustang painted with Model Master Fathom Green Metallic. It looks a lot better than before with that big dog hair embedded in the paint on the hood. So far, this is just two mist coats of paint. I'll let this set for a bit before adding more paint. Spenser For Hire will return...

While the color may look perfect, there was a dog hair on the hood which resulted in the body being stripped and readied for new primer and paint. Snap kits are becoming a new challenge for a lot of builders. Adding detail to an otherwise plain model makes this an amazing looking model! I got about 98% of the old primer and paint off of the Mustang. I'll finish sanding and will apply a coat of primer to check my work. Spenser For Hire will return...

I have acheived my goal with the dark green I have chosen! I wanted a color that would remind someone of the Bullitt or Spenser For Hire Mustangs. The bare plastic wheels have a dull or flat black color to them and so the finish was more of a bright silver or aluminum color that I was looking for instead of chrome. As for the dog hair, well it's history! I just removed the body from the stripper and gave it a good scrubbing. I'll do some more sanding and then give it a coat of primer to see where I am at. I find that detailing a snap kit is quite challenging as you have to think of and find a detail that can be improved upon. Shaving the dog...not going to happen! The wife would kill me!!!
-
Well, the Mustang body is in the stripper as I had found a large dog hair in the paint on the hood which is part of the one-piece body. Finding dog hair in the paint is becoming a common occurrence for me and it is frustrating! Nevertheless, I will soldier on and get the Mustang repainted. This morning, I detailed the instrument panel and interior. I used the extra '06 Mustang decals that I have accumulated over time and paint detailed the small gauges in the dash center. Spenser For Hire will return...

Any Guidance on Pegasus Wheels and Tires?
mrmike replied to oldcarfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I do believe that the Pegasus wheels without sizes are of the 19" variety or maybe a bit smaller. I have only bought the ones listed as 19" or 23" for my builds so far. -
The Story McNally hops off the T and walks the half block to Vic's Auto Sales and Service which was recently refurbished into a modern dealership for selling and servicing used cars. He sticks his head into Vic's new office and greats his old Army buddy and they both walk out to the back lot where the remains of McNally's Exhibition is stored. The burnt out hulk was totalled as McNally searches for his equipment bag which was burnt as well and the only thing inside that was salvagable was his kevlar vest. Vic helps finds McNally a new vehicle which happens to be sitting in his showroom-a 2009 Dodge Challenger SRT8 with low miles and in a gleaming dark green paint job. After a test drive, Vic starts the paperwork on the Challenger for McNally. The Build The extra tires from the Revell '65 Chevelle are a tight fit, but look a lot better than the truck tires that come in the kit. They are smaller in diameter and width. The engine is in-progress. McNally will return...

The Story As McNally drives into Boston, he notices he is being followed by a silver Ford Taurus. He zips down a back street towards the warehouse district and the occupants in the Taurus start shooting at him in his 1997 Ford Exhibition and the right rear tire explodes and goes flat followed by the left rear tire. He stops and the back of the big SUV is starting to smoke and flame heavily as he gets out and runs to the side of the road under the cover of the smoking Exhibition. The men in the Taurus get out and continue shooting at the Exhibition and McNally returns fire from his hiding spot on the side of the rode, killing both shooters. McNally sits in the visitors chair in front of Lt. Det. Troy's desk at BPD Homicide later in the afternoon and finishes writing out a report on his "incident". Adam returns to his office and says, "You seem to be cleaning up the city of some of its criminals." McNally replies, "It's a dirty job, but somebody's gotta do it." They discuss the hitmen who were from New Jersey and so far they have no leads on who hired them. McNally will start looking for answers to who put the hit out on him and Adam Troy tells him to keep in touch. The Build I got the Challenger into primer. I painted most of the engine parts with Model Master Aluminium Plate Metalizer and sealled with a good coat of Alclad II Klear Kote. The body has been painted with Dupli-Color Forest Green Pearl. Engine assembly has begun. McNally will return...

I got into a discussion about Ford Mustangs and was kind of "challenged" into building a "what-if" Mustang. This Mustang would have been the car driven by Boston private cop Spenser if the TV series, Spenser For Hire was on the air today. Since the cars used were well used local cars, I thought let's use something newer and I happen to have the model kit handy for this build. I started by blowing apart the Mustang and cleaned up the body. I searched through my extra decals and found some left over from previous Mustang builds. I decided on a color. Model Master Fathom Green Metallic. Yes, I know it's a GM color, but Ford never offered a dark green for the 2015 Mustang. I painted the wheels with Alclad II Chrome over the flat black plastic of the wheels and cleared with Alclad II Gloss Klear Kote. I got the body painted with Model Master Fathom Green Metallic. Spenser For Hire will return...

I figured that the best way for me to paint the trim with gloss white paint was like a pin striper. I loaded up a small brush with paint and ran the brush along the trim molding and then wipe off the excess with a paper towel. This worked rather well and looks better than the kit decals. More to come...

Thank you Dan! I foiled the Impala this afternoon while I watched the Daytona 500. More to come...
