  1. Thanks Stephen and Jonathan!
  2. Thanks Stephen. I sure do miss the series and both Roberts (Urich and B. Parker). They both influence my stories and I do strive to keep the story interesting. I am a better model builder than a writer, but I know there is room for improvement on both. The avatar was something I found a while ago while Googling Spenser For Hire and I decided to looks at images on a whim. I had saved the image until recently when I wanted to change avatars and thought good ol' Spenser would make an interesting avatar.
  3. Thanks guys! That's right...one quarter mile at a time!
  4. Thanks Jason! Charlie, I had noticed just how busy you were, so I decided to stay out of your way and let you get things done. Are you planning on attending one of our meetings? We would be happy to have you stop by.
  5. Thanks Stephen! I hope this thread helps you when it is time for yours to be built. If you ever have any questions, feel free to PM me and I'll help you as best as I can. The Story McNally asks Big Tommy T as to his business with Jesse and the machine shop in Brighton. Tommy says that Jesse works for him from time to time and that the machine shop is not of McNally's concern. Tommy is then told to stay clear of the machine shop and to find something a little more productive for Jesse to do...or he will turn Tommy's empire upside down. Tommy replies, "I am firmly entrenched in my affairs and there is nothing you can do to harm me." "You had better reconsider your position here. Things will change," replies McNally. He and Reuben leave Tommy's office and the nightclub. The Build I clearcoated the body this morning with two mist coats of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear and 1 wet coat of clear over an hour. I'll polish the clear in a day or two. i cleared the side mirrors and the inner fenders. I needed the inner fenders to have a little bit of a shine instead of being almost completely flat. McNally will return...
  6. You are off to a good start Liam! Looking forward to more.

  8. Thanks guys! I'm really happy with the end result. Jonathan, I am going to work on the '10 Mustang Convertible and my Dodge A100. I am undecided on a project after the Mustang. I have a feeling that it might be a Mopar...
  9. Thanks guys! I have finished my '69 Nova COPO 427 and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have viewed and commented on my build.
  10. This is my '69 Nova COPO 427 painted with Tamiya TS-20 Metallic Green with a black interior and built box stock.
  11. Thanks Darrick and Dirk! Dirk, I build mainly Mopars and Fords, but this Nova offered me something different. Until something new in a Mopar or Ford comes along, I guess I'll be branching out into unknown territory.
  12. Thanks Jonathan and Tom! Tom, thanks for posting your research on the COPO Novas. This is far more interesting than the long-winded response I got from someone on another forum. So far, I am finishing up the Nova with installation of the chrome and then decals.
  13. This sounds like a great project! This is where I disagree with you on this. The tooling is an original for Monogram and not a retooling from MPC. Model Products Corporation tooling has been 1/25 scale whereas Monogram at the time was 1/24 scale. Anyway, I look forward to your progress on this kit.
  14. Jonathan, I have always been able to clearcoat after polishing. For me, polishing was the last step in getting paint as smooth as possible for clearcoat. The smoother the surface, the better the finish. I then wash the painted body with Dawn to remove any comtaminants and let it air dry. With that said, I did not clearcoat the Nova yet, and I probably won't. The paint is quite smooth and shiny and it would be better to leave it as is. If I was to clearcoat this paint, I would use my favorite clear gloss...Tamiya TS-13. BTW, this is a process that works for me and I am sure there are those who would disagree with me. You could try it for yourself and see if it works for you or not. Don't be afraid to experiment.
  15. Karl, yes I am going to use the hub caps. I spent some time today installing the windows and gluing the chassis and interior into the body. One thing I didn't like was the way the exhaust tips hung so far below the rear fender. My solution was to enlarge the mounting holes for the rear pipes slightly enough so that the exhaust was pushed up farther. I added the hood trim and hinges. More to come...
  16. I just devoted the last few minutes to reading this entire thread and I suppose I could post my ugly mug on here. Here I am standing in front of part of my built model collection. Yeah, some are a bit dusty...umm...dirty...ahh maybe I should get to cleaning them. Oh look...another model to build...
  17. Thanks Liam and Jim! I made some progress on the Nova today. The body is polished and foiled, the interior and chassis are complete and it is time for a mockup to check for fit and stance. So far, so good! Time to insert the windows and all the trim. More to come...
  18. The Story McNally and Reuben met at Big Tommy T's place, a small restaurant and night club called Big T's. Their plan is to distract the guards in front of Big Tommy's office and force their way in and meet with the crime lord. McNally will walk near the bar and nudge the elbow of Tommy's number two man, Baylor Leighton, and spill his drink which will blame the man sitting next to him at the bar and hopefully start a brawl. Reuben will watch McNally's back as he enters the office. All goes as planned as the guards leave their post to help stop the fight and McNally and Reuben enter Big Tommy's office with their guns drawn. This is McNally's second time meeting the crime lord and Tommy is caught off-guard and staring down the barrel of McNally's .45 Smith & Wesson. The Build I feel like I have made some progress now that I have primered and painted the body. This time I have remembered to paint the rear view mirrors. The paint is Model Master Citrus Yellow Metallic, No. 28101. McNally will return...
  19. Jonathan, I can understand and sympathize with you on how a young one can zap the energy (and the life, LOL) out of you. Been there, done that! 20. Jonathan, I usually don't have as much time to build during the week as I once had and my job takes a lot out of me so I am quite tired when I get home. I try to do what I can in whatever time is allowed me during the weekend. The snap kit seems more toy-like in appearance than the glue kit is. The body is sturdier and thicker than the glue kit body and the differences between the two kits requires more engineering than just being able to swap out the two bodies and then call it a day.
  21. I once drove a B210 Honeybee from New Hampshire to Montreal, Canada and back and I swore that I never would ever drive that tin can again. The owner crashed it two weeks later and the car was totalled. Goodbye tin can!
  22. I painted the chassis from the '10 Mustang GT coupe. The snap chassis will be used under the GT coupe body at a later date.
  23. Well now...I am doing a similar job on a '10 Mustang GT convertible, just not making it into a Shelby. You are off to a great start and keep up the good work!
  24. Jonathan, it does seem like a lot of work, but the end result will be a '10 Mustang convertible with a full detail engine and chassis. And, another McNally story for those who are interested.
  25. Thanks Jonathan! The Story It is another morning for ADA Scotson as she drives to work. Caitlyn is starting to get a little nervous as she sees a silver sedan following her, several cars back. It dosen't matter if see tries to speed up or slow down...the sedan still keeps its distance. She turns into the parking lot for the District Attorneys Office and notices the sedan drives by the lot entrance and keeps on going down the street. She feels relieved and parks her car in her assigned spot, grabs her purse and briefcase and walks inside. The Build I have determined where to make my cuts on the interior platform. My original plan was to cut off the back seat and graft the convertible seat to the coupe interior platform. Instead, I have decided to cutoff the "doghouse" or inner fenders from the interior platform and glue it to the convertible interior platform. A mockup of the interior and chassis. I mocked up the chassis, interior platform, and the body to see how everything fits. The front of the chassis hits the front of the nose and even bows the crossmember. It also pushes the chassis back into the body where the front wheels will not be centered. I'll use a sanding stick on the chassis corners and round them until the chassis fits better. McNally will return...
