  1. Since I have the '10 GT Convertible almost done, I decided to take the leftover parts from the snap kit and add them to the remains of the GT Coupe kit. The GT Coupe will be a curbside...no engine. The paint is Model Master Citrus Yellow Metallic No. 28101. The body has been painted and will be clearcoated with Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear and polished after decals have been applied. More to come...
  2. That's pretty neat! Change the beard to a handlebar mustache and give him some tats and he'll look like Paul Teutul Sr.
  3. Thanks Jonathan. I neglected to order any Pegasus tires for this build, so I have decided to go with the kit tires for this and maybe the Coupe GT build when I get to it. The Story The silver sedan follows Caitlyn all the way home and now she is very nervous. She runs inside her condo, locks the door and goes into her bedroom closet and retrieves a metal box with four white buttons on top, punches in a combination, the lid pops open and she pulls out a Smith & Wesson Model 36 Snub Nose .38 Revolver. She loads five rounds into the cylinder, closes it and looks out the window overlooking the street below and does not see the silver sedan anywhere. She calls the Police who come and take a report, tell her they will cruise through the neighborhood more often and then leave on another call. She tries to take her mind off the silver sedan with paperwork and leafs through the Colemark file and sees McNally's business card clipped to the folder. She picks up the phone and calls his number. The Build I have applied a rear panel decal from the Coupe kit, taillights, GT emblem, and black lower panel trim. I used BMF on the horse grille emblem and added the head and driving lights. I have been test fitting the inner fenders/firewall and I had to shave the back of the headlights and trim the inner fenders to fit. The driver side inner fender has minimal mods, but the passenger side required careful removal of material without damaging the fuse and relay box. This will be painted and detailed again. McNally will return...

  5. The Story McNally anticipates Big Tommy T's next move which will be to take him and Reuben out. They arm themselves with additional weapons and wait at McNally's house, but not for very long. Reuben is watching out the front window and sees a car pull up in front of the house and two young men get out of the car and approach the house with a shotgun and a small submachine gun. It is Jesse and one of his friends who goes to the front door while Jesse goes to the side door. The front door is kicked open and the young man steps inside shooting wildly as Jesse kicks in the side door only to get hit in the stomach with McNally's Louisville Slugger that he keeps next to the side door and Reuben steps out from behind the front door and grabs the other man by the back of the neck and throws him into the wall, subduing them both. Officers from the Organized Crime Taskforce come out of the back room and arrest the two young men. Meanwhile, Caitlyn is driving home from work only to discover the silver sedan is following her again. The Build I have detailed the wheels and installed the tires. I have decided to use the kit tires this time. On the back, I have installed the pin retainer, but instead of the metal pin, I have added a short piece of round stock which will play a part in lowering the suspension later. The chassis is complete. McNally will return...

  7. Thanks Stephen and Jonathan!
  8. Thanks Stephen. I sure do miss the series and both Roberts (Urich and B. Parker). They both influence my stories and I do strive to keep the story interesting. I am a better model builder than a writer, but I know there is room for improvement on both. The avatar was something I found a while ago while Googling Spenser For Hire and I decided to looks at images on a whim. I had saved the image until recently when I wanted to change avatars and thought good ol' Spenser would make an interesting avatar.
  9. Thanks guys! That's right...one quarter mile at a time!
  10. Thanks Jason! Charlie, I had noticed just how busy you were, so I decided to stay out of your way and let you get things done. Are you planning on attending one of our meetings? We would be happy to have you stop by.
  11. Thanks Stephen! I hope this thread helps you when it is time for yours to be built. If you ever have any questions, feel free to PM me and I'll help you as best as I can. The Story McNally asks Big Tommy T as to his business with Jesse and the machine shop in Brighton. Tommy says that Jesse works for him from time to time and that the machine shop is not of McNally's concern. Tommy is then told to stay clear of the machine shop and to find something a little more productive for Jesse to do...or he will turn Tommy's empire upside down. Tommy replies, "I am firmly entrenched in my affairs and there is nothing you can do to harm me." "You had better reconsider your position here. Things will change," replies McNally. He and Reuben leave Tommy's office and the nightclub. The Build I clearcoated the body this morning with two mist coats of Tamiya TS-13 Gloss Clear and 1 wet coat of clear over an hour. I'll polish the clear in a day or two. i cleared the side mirrors and the inner fenders. I needed the inner fenders to have a little bit of a shine instead of being almost completely flat. McNally will return...
  12. You are off to a good start Liam! Looking forward to more.

  14. Thanks guys! I'm really happy with the end result. Jonathan, I am going to work on the '10 Mustang Convertible and my Dodge A100. I am undecided on a project after the Mustang. I have a feeling that it might be a Mopar...
  15. Thanks guys! I have finished my '69 Nova COPO 427 and it is posted in Under Glass. I would like to thank all those who have viewed and commented on my build.
  16. This is my '69 Nova COPO 427 painted with Tamiya TS-20 Metallic Green with a black interior and built box stock.
  17. Thanks Darrick and Dirk! Dirk, I build mainly Mopars and Fords, but this Nova offered me something different. Until something new in a Mopar or Ford comes along, I guess I'll be branching out into unknown territory.
  18. Thanks Jonathan and Tom! Tom, thanks for posting your research on the COPO Novas. This is far more interesting than the long-winded response I got from someone on another forum. So far, I am finishing up the Nova with installation of the chrome and then decals.
  19. This sounds like a great project! This is where I disagree with you on this. The tooling is an original for Monogram and not a retooling from MPC. Model Products Corporation tooling has been 1/25 scale whereas Monogram at the time was 1/24 scale. Anyway, I look forward to your progress on this kit.
  20. Jonathan, I have always been able to clearcoat after polishing. For me, polishing was the last step in getting paint as smooth as possible for clearcoat. The smoother the surface, the better the finish. I then wash the painted body with Dawn to remove any comtaminants and let it air dry. With that said, I did not clearcoat the Nova yet, and I probably won't. The paint is quite smooth and shiny and it would be better to leave it as is. If I was to clearcoat this paint, I would use my favorite clear gloss...Tamiya TS-13. BTW, this is a process that works for me and I am sure there are those who would disagree with me. You could try it for yourself and see if it works for you or not. Don't be afraid to experiment.
  21. Karl, yes I am going to use the hub caps. I spent some time today installing the windows and gluing the chassis and interior into the body. One thing I didn't like was the way the exhaust tips hung so far below the rear fender. My solution was to enlarge the mounting holes for the rear pipes slightly enough so that the exhaust was pushed up farther. I added the hood trim and hinges. More to come...
  22. I just devoted the last few minutes to reading this entire thread and I suppose I could post my ugly mug on here. Here I am standing in front of part of my built model collection. Yeah, some are a bit dusty...umm...dirty...ahh maybe I should get to cleaning them. Oh look...another model to build...
  23. Thanks Liam and Jim! I made some progress on the Nova today. The body is polished and foiled, the interior and chassis are complete and it is time for a mockup to check for fit and stance. So far, so good! Time to insert the windows and all the trim. More to come...
  24. The Story McNally and Reuben met at Big Tommy T's place, a small restaurant and night club called Big T's. Their plan is to distract the guards in front of Big Tommy's office and force their way in and meet with the crime lord. McNally will walk near the bar and nudge the elbow of Tommy's number two man, Baylor Leighton, and spill his drink which will blame the man sitting next to him at the bar and hopefully start a brawl. Reuben will watch McNally's back as he enters the office. All goes as planned as the guards leave their post to help stop the fight and McNally and Reuben enter Big Tommy's office with their guns drawn. This is McNally's second time meeting the crime lord and Tommy is caught off-guard and staring down the barrel of McNally's .45 Smith & Wesson. The Build I feel like I have made some progress now that I have primered and painted the body. This time I have remembered to paint the rear view mirrors. The paint is Model Master Citrus Yellow Metallic, No. 28101. McNally will return...
  25. Jonathan, I can understand and sympathize with you on how a young one can zap the energy (and the life, LOL) out of you. Been there, done that!
