  1. I certainly hope so, Ron! I've been wanting to do another build with a storyline and this seems to be a good one for it.
  2. With the drama that nearly drove me away gone and calm has settled over the MCM forum, I have decided to come back with a new WIP. 18 months ago I built an '06 Mustang elsewhere and added a short story to it to demonstrate what was driving my build. The Build I'm doing it again with a new build of Testors '06 Dodge Charger Daytona that I bought for $20.00 when the kit was first released. The paint is Testors Colors By Boyd Orange Pearl. The body has the front and rear bumpers added and is ready for primer. This WIP is about the model and not the story. The story is only to demonstrate what is driving this new build. The Story As a Boston Firefighter pours water upon the smouldering remains of McNally's Mustang, McNally wonders to himself, "Well, this is the second bad thing to happen to me this week." The first was his long time girlfriend, Tracy, had left him citing that she could no longer tolerate his dangerous profession. McNally decided to bury himself in his work to help ease the pain of his broken heart and now his Mustang was nothing more than a pile of twisted metal thanks to a RPG (rocket propelled grenade). McNally felt a hand on his shoulder and heard the words, "You OK, buddy?" The hand belonged to his good friend, Det. Sgt. Adam Troy. "Let's go down to my office and fill out the report." McNally looked at his friend and said, "OK, let's go." Two hours and one really bad cup of coffee later, McNally called his friend Vic, at Vic's Garage and asked him if the Mustang had arrived there yet and if Vic had any leads on another set of wheels for him. Vic told him that the Mustang had arrived and that he should have something for him when he got to the garage. After looking over the wreckage and finding nothing salvageable, McNally asked about another car. Vic said, "Come with me." In the corner of the garage was an orange '06 Charger Daytona and Vic told McNally that the car was a bank repo that he got last week and the bank wanted to sell the car fast. "And, it's got a Hemi", Vic said. "Who's got the title?" asked McNally. "Chelsea Bank And Trust", Vic said and McNally headed to the bank to buy the car. More to come.....
  3. Thank you guys! This wasa really fun kit to build! And, of course, I couldn't leave it alone without some extra detailing. I have another Zinger to build soon.
  4. This my Zingers Super Van painted with Tamiya Mica Blue paint. I wired the motor, painted the block with Mopar Hemi Orange enamel paint, painted the suspension with Alclad II chrome paint, and drilled out the exhaust headers.
  5. My sympathies Harold. In the past 25 years of owning dogs, I treasure their companionship and when it's time for them to go, it is always a difficult undertaking.
  6. Thanks guys! The paint I used was Tamiya TS-54 Light Blue Metallic. I was hoping to somewhat replicate B5 Blue Pearl that is available on the 2010 Challengers. The spray can cap is close, but the paint itself was a bit darker. Hey, I tried!
  7. Thanks Brian and Greg! With the model companies seemingly doing better, perhaps we can see more modern model cars from them in the future.
  8. Thanks guys! Yes, this is the Revell kit and I used some of the decals I had left over from the AMT kit. I don't like the carbon fiber hood stripe and chose to use the "Defender" stripes from the AMT Challenger R/T instead.
  9. Thanks guys! I have finished my Challenger and it is posted in the Under Glass section. My thanks to all who took the time to look and to comment.
  10. Just completed, my Challenger SRT8.
  11. Thanks Billy and Gary! I installed the air box and intake tube and didn't like the looks of it. I prodeeded to get out the razor saw and removed the air box from the tube and install a K&N conical air filter from Scale Dreams painted with Humbrol Polish Crimson and The Detailer black wash. Now that adds a performance flare to the underhood area! After reading elsewhere about concerns of the taillight lens fitment, I added mine with some Elmers white glue and it fit perfectly. More to come.....
  12. Thanks Mike! I know it's been a while since I added anything to this WIP and I finally was able to sit down at the bench and work on the Challenger for a little while this afternoon. I finished the interior and installed it into the body and then joined the body to the chassis. I foiled the grille surround and it looks pretty good! The rear needs the taillight lens and the exhaust tips added. I must say that the paint on this car has to be the best I have ever done with a rattlecan! The more I look at it, the more I love it! And, to remind you all.....this is all paint. No clear coat!!!!! More to come.....
  13. Thank you Declan! The motor itself came out pretty good. I just wish i could add a little more detail to it.
  14. Thank you Bruce! More progress to show! I've gotten the trim and the front spoiler painted. I now need to use some BMF on the grille surround. The dash is done using a combination of the Revell and the leftover AMT decals. The side panels are done. More to come.....
  15. I was able to finally spend some time at the bench this morning and make some progress on the Challenger. After doing some research, I noticed the the taillight lens is not completely clear and decided to scribe some lines on the inside of the lens. I have been masking and painting in steps so the model wouldn't be one massive ball of tape and to make things a little bit easier on me. The trim is mostly done and I still have to paint the side window trim and the front spoiler. I have some overspray cleanup to do. I had to partially disassemble the chassis to do some detail painting that I neglected to do and have since then reassembled the chassis. More to come.....
  16. The actual color is called Hemi Orange Pearl Coat.
  17. Thank you Steve!
  18. The motor is complete! And installed in the chassis. I sanded the center of the wheels and installed the Pegasus 245/45/18 Michelin Pilot Sport tires. I like these, really W-I-D-E! A mockup to check the stance revealed that the rear tires stuck out beyond the fenders. To get the tires inside the rear fenders, I disassembled the rear suspension and modified the rear shock mounts. I'll touchup the shock mounts with primer and reinstall the rear suspension and exhaust system. More to come.....
  19. About 45 minutes of polishing with Meguirs Scratch X has produced this amazing shine! This is just paint, no clearcoat! This has got to be my best spray can paint job yet! The interior parts have been painted dark gray and when sufficiently dried, I'll coat them with semi gloss clear. More to come.....
  20. I built a "Burn Notice" Charger last year using the AMT '71 Charger. I got the hood from Time Machine Resin and a 6 Pack hood scoop from another modeler. I posted a WIP elsewhere but here's the link to my Photobucket pictures. http://s6.photobucket.com/albums/y224/mrmike007/Burn%20Notice%20Dodge%20Charger/ If you have any questions, email me and I'll try to help you out.
  21. Thanks guys! Brian, I used Model Master Leather for the console. The instrument panel is a decal from the kit.
  22. Thank you Marty and Wayne! Well, "Little Sister" 'Cuda 340 is done and post in the "Under Glass" section. I would like to thank everyone who looked and commented on my WIP.
  23. My '71 'Cuda 340 painted in MCW Hemi Orange with a white interior. Here's "Little Sister" 'Cuda 340 with her "Big Brother" Hemi 'Cuda.
  24. I got the front bumper on after I removed the mounting studs for the driving lights and reattached the lights to the bumper. I had enlarged the exhaust ports in the valance panel prior to painting and I made new exhaust tips from some tubing. This is getting near done. I just need to add decals and final details to "little sister" and then I can proudly display her next to her "big brother" Hemi 'Cuda! More to come.....
  25. I built the AMT Challenger RT last year and it is a easy kit to build with good detailing, but as it has been mentioned, it is a promo style kit but one that you should consider getting. For a full detail kit, the Revell kit is the way to go. Ahhh.....the joy of paint! Even the motor got some paint! I have an image of a Challenger SRT8 that I found and this color is pretty close to what I have. More to come.....
