Thank you guys! Inspite of the fact that these are old Monogram kits in 1/24 scale, they do have good crisp moldings. I think the '70 GTX was converted to the '70 Roadrunner by Revellogram at some point and I have a couple of those built on the shelf. I have been a bit leary of the molded in color scheme especially if the color is metallic. Those usually have a lot of swirls in the plastic and sometimes the metallic can be a little too large for scale. This particular build has good metallic in it.

I built this GTX many, many years ago. I built it box stock and recently rebuilt and polished it. I left it as is, but if I was to do rebuild it again, I would wire the engine and use Bare Metal Foil for the trim and moldings.

Nice Reatta! Great job, Lee! I never liked the Reatta since it looks like it is pushing its nose into the ground.
-
Looks great John! You did a great job on this!
-
Thanks John! I hope you like the technique. BTW, there should be only one ignition wire running along the top of the intake manifold on the passenger side of the engine. That is for the rear cylinder. The other three run from the front of the engine. Just one of the many things I learned from Fury3.

Thanks Larry! Jim and Ed, I remember a time when stock car racing was just that...a stock car that goes fast. I'm not talking about the cars of today with their plastic bumpers and tiny little engines, but cars that were built 30 years ago with chrome bumpers and V8 engines. 25 years ago, I was just starting to loose interest in NASCAR. February, 2001 sealed the deal with Dale Earnhardt passing away. I don't know how these drivers died or what caused their deaths. Yes, racing is dangerous...very dangerous! Today, they have cars with plastic Mustang or Camaro noses on them and they still don't look like a stock car should. With Detroit moving away from cars in favor or trucks and SUVs, will the so-called "stock cars" still be around? Will the "stock cars" be replaced with an SUV? I still wish for the 'good ol' days', but those days are long gone!

AMT '67 Mustang Fastback-Now in Under Glass Section

Great looking engine, Joe! I wouldn't worry about the fan belt too much. You just happen to be focused on it, so it does stand out to you. -
It is unfortunate that this has become a "spec" series. The body is carbon fiber, no grilles or lamps, just decals, the engine is from who knows were. There was a time when the car they had raced, you could go down to the showroom and buy an almost carbon copy of the same car. Yes, times have changed and I remember the "good ol' days" when racing was real and very dangerous!

Thank you guys! I had been thinking about not watching NASCAR long before Dale Earnhardt died and that was the reason to push me over the edge. The Car of Tomorrow seemed like a flash in the pan for me. Another reason not to watch NASCAR anymore! I might watch again if they gp back to the Body In White concept which is a stock shaped body taken from the production line and is made into a race car.

This is my Bill Elliott Dodge Intrepid. It is painted with Model Master Red with a grey interior and built OOB. I built this back in 2000 and I stopped watching NASCAR on February 18, 2001 when Dale Earnhardt died.

When I rebuilt my Volvo 760, I lowered the suspensioin the hard way by shortening the front cross member and springs. The rear required more work and a lot of shortening of the center differential and springs along with the triangular strut. The result was a Volvo 760 without the 4X4 look.
-
Looks great! Definitely different from mine. It took me a while, but I figured a way to lower mine so it didn't look like a 4X4!

I built that kit and I thought it was fine for assembly. But, the floor pan where it meets the frame needs some work to hide the mounting tabs like Tom Geiger had pointed out.

New season of Netflix Car Masters
mrmike replied to cobraman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I thought that the Delahaye was a turd! It didn't have the smoothness of the real Delahaye. He expects people to pony up big bucks for their creativity and that is a very small market which will dry up fast. Besides, I only watch it for Constance Nunes! -
Thanks Carl, Anton and David! I was starting to wonder if my can of Model Master paint would spray at all. The can had started to leak a little and I didn't notice it when I bought the can a couple of weeks ago. It sprayed and I should be happy that it did.

Tamiya TS-67 IJN Gray. It's a shade darker than what I really wanted. but I do like it.

The Story As McNally drives home, his cellphone rings and he answers a call from Sgt. Det. Bolanden of the Internal Affairs Bureau and he is investigating Det. Darvell's arrest of McNally. He tells the Sergeant that he was out of town all day and how he was treated without being told of his Miranda Rights. Bolanden asks were he was at the time of the murder and McNally was out on Route 2 having left his ex-partner's wife home out in Templeton, MA and he was headed towards Boston and that his ex-partner was deceased. Sgt. Det. Bolanden remembers the funeral for Det. Daniel Carlisle. He tells Sgt. Det. Bolanden that Det. Darvell probably didn't investigate any crime and arrested McNally because he doesn't like him since he is friends with Lt. Det. Adam Troy. McNally is asked why Det. Darvell dislikes him so much and the Boston PI suspects that it is jealously on Darvell's behalf Sgt. Det. Bolanden thanks McNally for talking with him. The Build I painted and detailed the interior and assembled it today during the Classic Plastic Model Club Build-A-Thon. While the paint booth was up and running, I painted the Impala SS body with Model Master Plymouth Prowler Purple Metallic. McNally will return...

Excellent job, Bill! Looks far better than the one I built many moons ago. Must be a good thing that I don't have any pictures of it!

I'm interested in seeing this painting process and I would like to see more. Here's a picture of my latest '68 Charger R/T painted with Tamiya TS-54 Light Blue Metallic that I recently finished. I started this build 4 years ago.

The Story Lt. Det. Troy had finally had enough of Det. Steven Darvell's poor investigative skills and he called the Internal Affairs Bureau. He knew this would make Darvell very unhappy with him, but the poor investigation or lack thereof, was more than he could take. Sgt. Det. William Bolanden arrives and asks for Lt. Det. Troy and Darvell points to Adam sitting in his office. After 10 minutes of talking, Sgt. Bolanden takes Darvell into an interview room to discuss the matter at hand...Darvell's poor performance on the job. After the interview, they walk out of the interview room and Darvell is angry, and very hungry as he had missed his supper and Lt. Det. Troy had already left for the day. He walks back to his small desk and he puts on his coat and his wants to throw the Procedure and Policy Manual in the trash that Lt. Troy had given him, but he tucks it under his arm and leaves the Squad Room heading to a chicken joint for a bucket of chicken and a package store for a rack of beer. The Build I had to stop at the local hobby shop for some paint and I found a can of Tamiya Grey that I liked for the interior and a can of Plymouth Prowler Purple Metallic that looks close to the Maroon Metallic that I want on the Impala SS. I swore that I would never buy any purple since it is not one of my favorite colors. Maybe my tastes are changing as I grow older... McNally will return...

Thanks Anton!

Just as I had suspected! The decal sheet is bigger with so much more content! I think that Revell would understand that issuing the same kit in the same areas of sales would be far less expensive than creating the same kit in different packaging with less content. Thank you Stu for the picture of the decal sheet!

I wasn't sure what color I wanted to use until i spotted this color in the paint can drawer. I'm glad I found it!
